Asherah and Inky - New Sweet November Digital Images

Happy Sunday my lovely crafting friends!  I am back  again today to share another card I made as a guest designer for the new Sweet November digital Mermaid release! They are "mer-mazing"!

These are Asherah and Inky and I think that they are playing a fabulous game of hide and seek!  From Asherah's face, I think that Inky thinks he is a better hider than he actually is!

I used several older Sweet November digital images to "build" my scene.  I just resized them and arranged them until I had the scene that I wanted.  I thought it would be so cute to have Inky hiding in the cave and Asherah finding him!  I will list everything I used below.

Image was printed onto Copic paper and then colored with copics.  When the coloration was all done, I added some Blue Ribbon Distress ink to the edges to create some depth.

I am back just in time for MerMay!

 Hello my lovelies,

Yes, I am back. When I first decided to take a break, I did not intend for it to last this long.  I thought that I would take a few months off and then I would be back but life was so busy that I just kept putting it off.  Finally, it was MerMay and more specifically this new Sweet November digital image from the May newsletter that spurred me into action.  Now I am endeavoring to remember how to post this to blogger, tag and upload to my social media.  If you are reading this then I guess I succeeded!

I absolutely had the best time coloring up this cutie.  I didn't realize how much I had missed doing this.

The background is a patterned paper from Whimsy Stamps, it is actually supposed to be a sky but I turned it upside down and now it is the bottom of the ocean! The sentiment was heat embossed with white powder and is from a Sweet November clear stamp set and the "bubbles" are adhesive gems from my stash.  I used a white gel pen to add highlights to her eyes and her hair.

Rejoice

Happy Tuesday my dear friends! The countdown to Christmas is very rapidly ticking away, is it not?  I am in full Christmas mode.  I am trying to get my cards sorted and mailed out, making batches of cookies and working on my December Daily album for this year.

Every year, I try to make an extra special full 6x8 page for the very first page of the album. I usually use digital images as I can super-size them to exactly fit the page and if I am a little last minute, digital images are almost instantly available!

Here is this year's first page:

I used digital images from Sweet November along with some older digital papers from Whimsy Stamps to create this page.  While the digital papers that I used are now retired, I did find currents ones that would give a very similar look.  They are all linked below.  By using digital images for the backgrounds, the only part of the page that I colored was the angel, the stone archway as the manger.

Queen Amunet ~ Sweet November Ladies of All Hallow's Eve

 Happy Tuesday! I hope that you are having a great day so far! We are preparing for the boys' starting school again. It will look a lot different from years past.

I was very excited to be asked by Amy Young to guest design for her latest Sweet November  release.  Here images are always so much fun to create with. I am so inspired by the amazing scenes that Amy creates for her images and so when I saw this new image: Queen Amunet from the Ladies of All Hallow's Eve Collection, I knew that I wanted to build a scene around her to tell her story!

Queen Amunet was young and beautiful when she was placed into her tomb but she wasn't ready to be laid to rest forever.  I pictured Queen Amunet awakening in her tomb.  Right outside, you can see the pyramids against the backdrop of a starry night sky. The starlight shines through the opening in the tomb as Queen Amunet sits up, holding her royal sceptres and wearing her crown.  She looks a little frightening and you can tell that she will be a force to reckon with, so beware!

  

This image comes in two different versions.  There is this one that I have used and then the other versions shows Amunet with some of the wrappings over the lower part of her face.  Which, in my opinion makes her look even more spooky!

This image was printed onto Copic X-Pressit paper and then colored with Copic Markers.  Here is the list...it is a long one!

Make A Splash!

Happy Saturday! I hope that wherever you may be, you are happy and safe and enjoying some fine weather!

Today I wanted to share a fun card that I made for a special little someone using one of the mermaid images from Sweet November Stamps!  As this is a digital image, I was able to crop it to be quite large and I love how it changes the look up!  The image is called Splash Seasong.

Everything was colored using Copic markers on Neenah Solar Crest White paper.  The sentiment was computer generated by myself.  I added some white to the water using a white Posca pen (linked below). This is by far my favorite pen to add white highlights.

Sweet November ~ Mermaid at Heart

Happy Tuesday! I know.  Three postings, three days in a row! I don't beleive it either.  I think my days are a little more predictable and so I can fit in times to get crafty in my studio.

  As you might realize if you have followed my blog for a certain amount of time, I have a huge soft spot for mermaid images.  Some might call it an addiction. I just seem to gravitate towards them. I purchased a few from Sweet November Stamps and have been  coloring them up whenever I have a wee pocket of time.

Today I have used Sandy Breakwater and Mamma Crabby who has been released from the Sweet November vault and I believe has been given a bit of a refresh! I purchased her as a rubber cling stamp many years ago and she has always been one of my favorite.

I cropped and resized her, adjusted her head to make it a bit bigger, and then I added the tail from The Lookout image.  The sentiment was computer generated by myself :)

 After all the coloring was completed, I blended some Distress Oxide inks onto the edges of the card.  I feel in love with now it ended up looking....it was quite by accident!!

Sweet November ~ Mertot

Happy Monday! I do hope that you all had a good weekend wherever you may be in this world of ours.  These past few days I have been enjoying coloring up the Mermaids that I purchased from Sweet November Stamps.  I see that Amy has added a few more cuties to the mermaid section! I am going to color up what I have first but it sure is tempting!

I love digital images because I can create different and unique scenes by resizing, cropping and mixing sets. Today I used the  January Mertot paired with the fish from Tide Mayfin image set. I loved the look of wonder on this little Mertot's face and it reminded me of my youngest the first time that we went snorkelling with him and all the fish were surrounding him.  I think they liked his bright blue and yellow swimsuit!  He was amazed and I wanted to capture that feeling here in this card.

Image was printed on Neenah White Solarcrest paper using my (very old) Epson Artisan 835 printer.  I then colored the image using Copic markers (unfortunately I forgot to take note of all the numbers).  I tried to create some depth with the background and give a sense of some light filtering down.  It took A LOT of blending!!!

Sweet November Mermaid–Coral Reefwater

Happy Monday my friends.It was an extremely tough week for our family last week and by the weekend, I was feeling completly drained.  Last night, there was finally a quiet pocket of time when I wasn’t needed and so I treated myself to a few of the new mermaid stamps from Sweet November Stamps.  Amy is one of my all-time favorite artists and I am so happy that she has started up a digital store!

I picked this one: Coral Reefwater and Moki to start with. I also used the free digital image Mermaid Rock and they work perfectly together.  Before I started coloring, I could picture her sitting on top of some rocks in the ocean just at the beautiful time in the early morning when the sky is stunningly full of light and color.  I am a night owl and so I rarely see the dawn, but when I do, I am always so amazed and feel so peaceful.

I sized my image to fit an A2 sized card (4.25” x 5.5”) and printed it off onto some Neenah Cardstock.  I then used an embarassingly large number of copic markers to color the scene in! It was very therapeutic and calming and I enjoyed the whole process immensely.

Wee Witches

Happy Tuesday! I have a new Halloween scene to share with you that I created using AMy Young’s fabulous Sweet November digital images.  I used a few of the new images from this Spetember’s release as well as the fence image that was released last year. I will link them all in the bottom for you.  I love, creating scenes and using digital images is by far the easiest way!

Everything was colored using Copic Markers…..so many markers! This was a weekend project that I colored as I had wee pockets of time.  After coloring the sky, I used the Colorless Blender to create those lightened areas that you see.  I also used a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen and then a gold Uniball pen.

Ocean Deep Mermaid Scene

Happy Friday! Thanks for stopping by! I have a new post today to share another of my projects using Amy Young’s Sweet November Mermaids.  These were a digital vault release and I don’t think this specific mermaid is available now but she does have a ton of new mermaid images that are just gorgeous. I am sure you will find a few that you will adore!  BTW this is not sponsored.  I just truly love all the Sweet November images!   You can find them all here over at 7kids Crafting Store.

Here is another Sweet November Mermaid that I just shared a few weeks ago!  It features another lovely mermaid and some of the other digital ocean backgrounds from Amy!

I actually have this mermaid as a rubber stamp. It is named Fathom Calmsea and perhaps you already have it!   I got it way back when it was released by CC Designs and because it is rubber, I was limited by its size as well as the facility to merge it with my other digital background images.  So, I decided to purchase the image as a digi so that I could re-size it to be larger and be able to easily create a scene using Amy’s ocean background images.

This project was sized at 5x7” so that I could add it to a frame for my craft studio. I purchased a few frames from Ikea and I have started to create seasonal art for them.  I like how polished they look once they are in the frames!

There is not much more to tell you!  This was a project that I worked on over the course of a weekend. I would go and do a little coloring when I had a pocket of time and took a very relaxed approach to it.  I would have my laptop playing a show and a nice cuppa handy as I progressed.

Everything was colored with copic markers (which I will have listed at the bottom of the post) with the exception of the the schools of fish. These are from a Whimsy Stamps clear stamp set and were stamped using Mermaid Lagoon ink! The only other additon was to add some Nuvo glitter to the stars.

Mermaid Sweet November

Happy Monday!  I have yet another mermaid project to share with you.  I hope that you adore mermaids as much as I do, if not, I apologize for the number of projects that are mermaid themed.  Also, fair warning, I have more to come!  I was thrilled to see that Amy Young had created more mermaid images as well as some background components so that we can mix and match and create awesome scenes.

I was again inspired to create a scene including a cave in my scene. This one was hand-drawn, but there is one that is included in the Ocean Background Builder set and I am tempted to purchase the other one of her background digis which includes another really well-done cave!  I tried to create a scene where this little mermaid,  Sparkle Moondrifter seems to be frolicking and playing with her ray friends inside of a cave.  One of the rays looks like he might just dart out of the cave and into the big ocean, hoping that his friends will follow!

All the images are digital, which means that I was able to choose where I wanted them in the scene as well as how large or small I wanted them.  Once I was happy with how it all looked, I printed it out onto some Copic friendly paper – in my case – Neenah cardstock.  I sized the scene to be 5 x 7” because I knew that I wanted to frame the image in an IKEA frame that I have in my craft studio.  This way, I can see it everyday!

Sweet November Fairy

Happy Saturday afternoon. I thought I would pop in quickly and share this new card that I just finished coloring.  I have used one of Amy Young’s new Sweet November January release images.  This one is called Willa Wintersnight and she is a digital image.

  I decided to size her quite large and make her face and glorious hair the real focus. I printed the image and decresed the opacity of the lines so that they were a light grey.  I like how this looks once it is all colored in.  It is somewhere between the “no-line” look and a crisply stamped image.

  I tried out creating a “knitted” look after seeing how awesome it looked on Amy’s cards and I also tried out her trick to create the steam : a white Prismacolor pencil applied after all copic coloring is done!  I added some clear shimmer to the wings. IRL it looks so pretty but it was difficult to capture the shimmer with my camera.

That is it for me!  It is super mild out and so my youngest and I are going to take a peaceful walk down by the river!  Have a great rest of the day!

Merry Christmas

Happy December 23rd my lovelies!  I wanted to send you all the very warmest of holdiay wishes to you and your loved ones.  This time of the year holds a special place in my heart and I always reflect on Christamas past as we approach the 25th.  I am always filled with gratitude, hope and a profond sense of love for all those who are in my life or have been part of my life.  Merry Christmas to you all.

This lovely angel makes my heart happy. It was a special digital availabe from 7kidscraftstore and is part of the Amy Young Sweet November line.  I believe it was a one day event and may no longer be avaiable.  I sized her quite large as to fit onto my 6x8 December Daily album page.  I used digital patterned paper (now retired) and a sentiment diecut with some rose-gold metallic paper.  A few sequins were added for a little dimensional interest and to pick up the colors in her halo and her wings.

Reindeer Love - Sweet November Digital Stamps

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are all having a good week and if you aren’t; hang in there. It will get better! Maybe try a little craft therapy!

Earlier this month, I was very fortunate to win the entire October digital release from Amy Young’s line: Sweet November. It is carried by 7kidscraftstore and is absolutely lovely, whimsical and full of possibilites for Christmas!  I was so shocked when I saw that my name had been pulled but so, so grateful that I had won! I have been so busy these last days but still try to color a little bit each day.  This card front is a result of many short coloring sessions! I am so happy that I finally can share this with you guys!

I merged two different stamps together to create this scene.  The first one is the wee elf boy hugging the reindeer. The wooden posts are part of the digital image.  The wee elf girl is actually holding a doll in her arms but I decided to remove the doll and have her hands hidden under all that lovely fur of the reindeer aa she pets him.  I love how joyful they all look together.

I did not note the marker numbers that I used. A very sweet elf of my own decided to help Mum out by putting away all her markers!!! If you take a look at older posts with images colored in reds, green and golds etc, you will get a good idea of what I used.

Sweet November | Pumpkin Pru

Happy Thursday! This week is just whizzing by for us!  I have been working a wee bit in my craft studio and am finishing up my Halloween cards and starting to think about my December Daily album! If you have been following me, you may know that I love to add my stamped creations to my album.  I like to create 6x8” pages that truly reflect my crafting style and add those to the album! Those pages will start to show up here…along with some how-to videos.

For today, I have a new card featuring some of the new Sweet November Halloween set of digital stamps illustrated by the very talented Amy Young and that 7 Kids Craft store are carrying.  I bought all four of her images and also got a background bundle of 4 other images. If you scroll down, you will see the two other cards that I have already made.

This image is called Pumpkin Pru and once again, I did not use the full image. Instead, I enlarged it and cropped away quite a bit of it, leaving just her head and a bit of her torso.  I love doing this as I get to color and work more on the skin and hair! I really changes up how the image looks.

Since I had copic colored the background on my other two Sweet November cards, I decided to do the same with this one. I had a bit of a think about which color I wanted and was a wee bit worried that this green wouldn’t work but in the end, I really love it.  The sentiment was computer generated at the same time as I was cropping the image with my photo editing software.

Sweet November | Black Cat Bess

Happy Thursday! After an outrageously hot day yesterday, the temperature is more moderate and it looks like it will be raining very soon.  No worries, I am cozy in my craft room, working away at editing a video for tomorrow! It has been a bit since I was able to get a proper video tutorial done…it was hard to work in the Summer with the kids and their friends over constantly!

Today I wanted to share another card that I made with the marvelous new digital stamps illustrated by the very talented Amy Young and carried by 7 Kids Craft store.  I love this Halloween set of digital stamps.  I bought all four of her images and also got a background bundle of 4 other images. This is the second image that I colored and again, I went ahead and cropped the image and zoomed it in.  I love when Amy herself does this and she refers to it as “big-head”!

I wanted to stick to a more or less Halloween color palette and was a little scared to start the orange background but I really am happy I was brave and tried it because I love how it looks!  The ony embellisment was to add a die-cut spider web onto the upper left corner.  The die is an old one from La La Land Crafts.  I am not sure if it is available any more!

Sweet November | Spider Web Sylvia

Happy Monday Everyone! If you have been following me for a while, you may remember how much I loved the Sweet November line of images illustrated by the very talented Amy Young. A few years ago, she stopped releasing new images for Sweet November and I have always, always missed them.  I was so happy and delighted when I saw her announcement that she was returning to the land of Sweet November and that 7 Kids Craft store would be releasing a Halloween set of digital stamps.  I bought all four of her images and also got a background bundle of 4 other images.  I was so excited that I already have created a card!

I decided to start with this image; Spider Web Sylvia but I sized her quite big and cropped out a lot of the image.  I wanted a close-up of her face.  At the same time, I added this sentiment.  I thought it went well with the image. I think that she looks to intent in her spell casting! This is why I love digital images. You can really change their size and add you own sentiments and/or combine them effortlessly with other images.

I also set the opacity of the image to quite low (14%) so that the lines were very, very faint.  I haven’t used this “no-line” coloring technique in a while as it is a bit more challenging and requires a lot more time.  Since it was the long weekend and I did find myself with some “me” time, I took the opportunity to really enjoy and relax and color this image up.  I am super happy with how it all turned out!
