Freesia Easter Bunny–Creating Backgrounds with Prismacolors

Happy Monday morning. I hope that your week is starting off well! I have a fun new card to share with you plus a how-to video. This is just in time for Easter and would make the perfect card to send out to a loved one!  This would even look great in a picture frame as part of your Easter decor. Which reminds me……I think it is time to get some of my decorations out from storage and start decorating for Easter. It still looks like winter outside my window but at least I can make it look like Spring inside!

The image that I used is Freesia and is illustrated by the fabulous Sylzia Zet. I adore her sweet and whimsical images. They have such personality. I colored the bunny with copics and in my video I share how I achieved this fuzzy look. It is super easy and fun to do.

I colored the back ground using Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. I created depth my layering different shades over top of each other. I love the look that it gives. I even used Prismacolors to color up the die-cut letters so that they perfectly match in tone to my background. I think that these new Brush Script Uppercase die cut letters are amazing. They are whimsical and sweet and perfect for adding words to your cards and album pages! There are Brush Script Lowercase dies as well as Numbers available as well! Everything that you need!

Happy Tuesday! I have a few cards to show you today!

I have made a video showing you how I created these cards and hopefully will have it edited and uploaded this week!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 143

I created these simple cards using Whiff of Joy's new Christmas stamps and sentiments. I used the Let us Adore Him stamp kit, Mary,  and Baby Jesus. The sentiments are part of the stamp kit. The ovals were made by embossing the cardstock with dies from the Classic Large Oval and Classic Small Oval Nestabilities sets and adding Stickles.

This week the High Hopes Challenge is to create a stair step card. I had such a fun time creating this happy winter scene:

Double Post and a New Video

Happy Thursday! I can’t believe that the week is almost over. In fact the last few weeks have been flying by………….we are so busy at the moment. I am finding it difficult to fit in time for my card-making.

Just to let you know that I have a new video -->here<—. In this one, I just go over the different copic marker styles and the advantages/disadvantages of each. I am basing these tutorials on the most common questions that I receive. I will cover paper and inks next and then I will start the coloring videos using my favorite marker combos.

Here is my first card for you. It is one of the new images from Whiff of Joy’s 1001 Nights Stamp Kit. I was totally taken with this image and had a blast coloring him up in rich and vibrant colors!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 112

My second card features another Whiff of Joy image. This time from the Norma Fickel series of Spring Gnomes. I was inspired by these beautiful crocuses that opened up in my garden on Easter Sunday. What perfect timing and so special because it was my children that discovered them and it made me smile to see them so excited!

(I used my Copic ABS to color the thin ribbon that is woven into the lace ribbon…now it is a perfect match!)

This week the Product spotlight is "Easter”.  For the next two weeks any Easter-themed stamp will be on sale for 25% off. Make sure to check out the full listing in the Stamp and Create Store.

High Hopes Challenge ~ Orange & Brown and a Circle!

High Hopes Stamps - Page 025

Happy Sunday! Thanks for stopping by! This week the High Hopes Challenge was picked by Amy who wants us to use orange & brown and a circle on our card! I decided to use this cute Tidy up Tillie stamp that has sat uninked for far too long! She is colored with copic markers and then prismacolor pencils & OMS. I added a little bit of Polar White flower soft on the ground and on her dust-pan. She is working hard to clean up all that dust!

The DP is by Cosmo Cricket and the raffia lace is from Bunny-Zoes store. The brown gingham ribbon and the charm are from Stamp & Create.  I did a little paper piercing along the edges for some extra interest.

If you are looking to purchase High Hopes stamps why not check out our Diva's stores.

I hope you can join us this week! Check out our very cool prize! Isn’t he too much!

Well today is the last day of the Olympics and I must say we have been spending a lot of time watching it. Wow! It has been amazing. I have a friend over there right now. He is part of the staff helping the athletes to their different venues and he just emailed a picture of himself with Wayne Gretzky! Can you imagine! We were actually out celebrating a friend’s birthday when he sent it to his sister who was also with us. So we were all passing around her phone to have a look. Too much!

Have a great day!

Friday Sketchers & Wags Challenges

Happy Friday! Today I have two cards to show you! The other day when I was working on my cards, I was just……stuck. I just couldn’t seem to get the cards together. The images were colored and waiting but my Mojo must have taken a break. Then the mail arrived and along with it, my DT package from Stamp & Create and Lacey had sent me the most exquisite ribbon and lace! OMGosh, they are so luxurious I think it is almost sinful! LOL! I instantly set to work incorporating them into my cards and now I get to show them to you!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 072

This first card is for the Friday Sketchers challenge. It is the wonderful Carole’s turn to host this week and her sketch is just fantastic. I am using one of the stamps that is in the Whiff of Joy’s February Stamp kit and the image is also from the kit. Isn’t this such a sweet image? She is colored with a combo of copic markers and twinkling H20s and I airbrushed the background with my Copic ABS. For this card, I used the crochet and satin lace from Stamp & Create. I love that you can still see a little bit through it to the DP which is a scrap from K&Co. The finishing touches are the prima flower and the fancy tag for the sentiment! In this next picture you can see the Twinkling H20s a little better.

This next card is for the Wags ‘n Whiskers challenge. This week it is “Freestyle”! I have used one of our newly release stamps. This one is called Snuzzle Love. What a cutie she is and a dream to color! She is colored with copic markers and I added the shading around the image with a prismacolor pencil & OMS. On this card I used the antique gold silk ribbon from Stamp & Create. Look at it! There are a whole bunch of other gorgeous colors and it feels so light and soft and makes the most beautiful bows. I used my Bow-Easy of course! I added a few prima flowers and the little pearls are from the bridal department at a craft store.

High Hopes Challenge ~ It seemed like a good idea….

High Hopes Stamps - Page 024

Happy Sunday! Here is my card for this week’s High Hopes challenge. Our guest diva Melanie has asked us to add some texture to your card!

I just had to ink up this funny little dragon. He is one of the new Dustin Pike images and is called “Troubled Travis”. The sentiment is so perfect to go along with the image and isn’t so true. To add texture I embossed some of my cardstock and I distressed the edges of my two inner panels. They look just about as roughed up as poor little Travis! I found the sketch for my card from this week’s Mojo Monday.

High Hopes Stamps - Page 024

  • Stamps: High Hopes Troubled Travis, HH Sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Bashful Blue, Papertrey Perfect Plum
  • Coloring: Copic Markers and Prismacolors with OMS
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon, brads from stash

If you are looking to purchase High Hopes stamps why not check out our Diva's stores.

I really hope you can join in the challenge this week! I have been trying to get around to all the entrants of the challenge to check out your cards!

Be Mine ~ High Hopes Challenge

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 048

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Sending you very happy wishes for a wonderful day! I am pre-scheduling my post….I am going to be watching the Olympics tonight. Once the kiddies are in bed, I can set the table for breakfast and then put their Valentine Chocolate gifts at their places. They will for sure sneak down in the morning to take a peek! Hubby also gets one…..their favorite is Lindor Chocolates!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 048

This week the challenge at High Hopes was set by Sirpa and she chose a fun recipe:

3 buttons, 3 flowers, 3 patterned papers

I love this type of challenge because I create a card I wouldn’t have dreamt of without the recipe! This one is for my hubby for Valentine’s day! We have a thing for anything with moose ever since our encounter with one while we were camping. This was ages ago, before the kids even. All I can tell you is that boy, they are BIG and they have a very distinct odor!

If you are looking to purchase High Hopes stamps why not check out our Diva's stores.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you can join us in the challenge! We have a fabulous HH stamp up for grabs every week!
