Tiddly Inks WinterLight Scene + Video

Happy Friday! It is getting pretty close to Christmas! It is time for Tiddly Inks Fab Friday and I have another page insert for my December Daily to share with you :)

Last year I used WinterLight Wryn for a card and when I saw that there was a new one featuring Ricky, I just knew that I wanted to merge them together to create a large 6x8” scene for my December Daily album. I filmed a video sharing the process from start to finish. You will find it below :)

I used a wee bit of a different technique to color in the Polar Bears. In fact, this is what I generally do when I am coloring in something that is mainly “white”. It works out every time:) Just start with your blender pen and get the area to be colored wet before applying color. It starts to blend right away!

I used a total of 4 inks from 2 different companies to achieve this background. I love how it turned out.

This had to be a starry sky so I used a white sharpie poster paint pen as well as an embossed star to create the effect.

Stamp & Create ~ Final Magnolia Advent Tag

Happy Tuesday! I have my final Christmas tag to show you from the set that I made for my December Daily album. I plan to use them for each Sunday of Advent and with the variety of Nativity stamps that Stamp & Create carries from Magnolia, I was able to completely capture the look I was going for.

Here is the final tag:

I created this tag using images from last year's Magnolia Nativity Collection. I used Tilda with Holy Baby, and  Holy Edwin. I masked the images together, added the background and colored the images. I also used some Frantage around the edges. To the top, Iadded red ivory checked ribbon and an angel charm.

Here are the tags all together. Each with a charm that goes along with the image and the “special” scene has the same checked ribbon but in a striking red.

Here is the video showing how I masked and airbrushed the backgrounds. I later sponged with Tumbled glass Distress ink and added Frantage. Love how it made the cards look.

This is the third tag in a set of 4 that I made using images from last year's Magnolia Nativity Collection. For this one, I  used Edwin as Wiseman and Jacob the Camel. I masked the images together, added the background and colored the images.  I also used some Frantage around the edges and added brown gingham ribbon and a star charm.

Here is my creation….another December Daily Page!

After coloring my image, I used a circle spellbinders die to cut it out and then whilst still in the die, I sponged the edges lightly with Tumbled glass distress ink. The paper is from last year’s Winter Park line from Echo Park. I have used it quite a bit for my album. I guess I just love this color combo!

I cut a piece of Soft Sky cardstock from Stampin’Up to size at 6x8”. I then adhered my 6x6” patterned paper onto the bottom of the page. I cut a thin bands of glitter paper to lay over the top edges of the patterned paper and added tiny pearl adhesives to it. Love it!

I cut some tiny snowflakes using the same glitter paper and a tiny die-light that comes in a set. Just enough sparkle!

Whiff of Joy December Digi Release Preview #1

Happy, happy Thursday my peeps and a Happy Thanksgiving to my lovely friends south of the border! Enjoy your turkey day and if you are not of the faint of heart….enjoy shopping on Black Friday :) I am certainly not hardy enough to go out and battle the crowds….plus there are a lot of internet sales now…..why not shop in your pyjamas in the comfort of home?!

Speaking of which…….

Before I share my project today, I just want to give a shout out to all my dear friends at the Royal Vic. It was so much fun to re-connect with you all and catch up on all your news. We haven’t aged a bit but funnily enough, our kids sure seem to have! HaHa!

Happy Retirement Mary! Now you will finally have time to teach me how to make homemade pasta and pizzelles!

Now back to paper-crafting :)

Whiff of Joy is releasing a few more awesome images in digital form for December! Loving that they are digital because there is no wait on shipping and you can get straight to playing!

Of course, this image was a must-have for my 2013 December Daily album! Cute little Maya skating with a penguin? Yes please!

The paper is from last year’s Winter Park line from Echo Park. I keep gravitating to these left over sheets instead of using all the brand new papers I bought recently. Go figure.

I cut thin bands of glitter paper to lay over the top and bottom edges of the patterned paper. I find this gives it a more finished look! For another layer, I added tiny pearl adhesives. Love, love the way this looks.

The amazing snowflakes are from a brand new die-light. I used some waxed paper between the die and the cardstock to make it cut cleanly and pop right of the die with no fuss. Not a big fan of fuss! I then cut it up into 4 sections so that it surrounds my image!

I adding some skates die-cut from more glitter paper and then added some pearls and decorative brads before calling this page…DONE!

Happy late Tuesday evening my peeps!

Oh my. I have been a very busy girl getting all my Christmas shopping done. I have 2 more things to get and then I am done….shopping that is. I have mounds to wrap, cards to write, goodies to bake and gifts to craft. ACK!

Whiff of Joy Challenge # 169 ~ Christmas

Happy Wednesday! How the week is flying by. We started slowly pulling out our Christmas Decoration boxes. We decided to start early and take it slow. We’ll see how it works out :)

There is a new challenge up over at the Whiff of Joy blog and this time around the theme is Christmas. Perfect for what I wanted to do which was to create another insert page for my December Daily album. I even videotaped the process for you. I get asked a lot to film my projects from start to finish. So, I did. Except I ended up speeding it up and adding a little festive music to it. Much better than listened me mumble!

Stamp & Create ~ Magnolia Christmas Tag

Happy Tuesday my lovelies! November is a busy month for us here. It means end of term exams, report cards. It also means pediatrician check-ups for all 3 boys and with them all being in different schools…..I really couldn’t combine the 3 to one morning so that means 3 trips this month. It also means that I am starting to get ready for Christmas and planning a little trip. Which means I have to kick my already organized ways up a notch!

Today I wanted to share a Christmas tag that I made to go into my December Daily album. I plan on making one for each Sunday of Advent! While making the tag, I video taped the masking and airbrushing that I did prior to coloring :) I have had some requests on those particular crafty techniques.

 

I used images from last year's Magnolia Nativity Collection. I had bought these last year but I ended up not having time to use them for last Christmas. I definitely wanted to use them this year. I used Holy Edwin and Holy Sheep and another sitting sheep. I don’t see that one in the Stamp & Create store.  I masked the images together, added the background and colored the images. I also added some Frantage around the edges and then sponged them with Broken China distress ink. To the top, I added brown gingham ribbon and a star charm.

Stamp & Create ~ Winter Tags

Happy Wednesday! I am playing catch-up these days. I went away with a group of girl-friends for a weekend shopping trip in Albany! It has become somewhat of an annual tradition and I look forward to it every year.  It was a blast and I got a head start on my Christmas shopping as well as catching up with the girls! I may or may not have splurged on myself at the Coach Factory outlet…….so hard to resist :)  Today I am sharing a couple of insert tags that I made. I am not sure whether they will be going in my December Daily album for this year or my Project Life album. Either way they will dress up my pages for sure.  

I used two of the new images from Magnolia's Winter Wonderland Collection to create inserts for an album: Merry Christmas Tilda and Noel Tilda. I stamped and masked them so that I could stamp backgrounds on them. I used Hero Arts Snow dots on the first one and Whimsy’s Music on the second one. The ink was Hero Arts Soft Pool and Soft Sand.

After coloring the images, I added some ribbon trim and a Snowflake charm  and a Christmas tree charm. All done and ready to be used whenever I need them :)
