Ready for some Fun!

Happy Saturday and Happy August!  I am equal parts amazed that is already August and equal parts amazed that it is still 2020!  It does seem to have been the longest year ever but I am also genuinely surprised that we are in August already and the loom of a new, strange and unknown school year is almost upon us.

Once again, Whimsy Stamps new mini release does not disappoint! This trio of flamingo pals from the Flamingo Fun Stamp Set were so much fun to create with.

I stamped the penguins using Bristol Smooth Cardstock and colored them up using Zig Real Brush Clean Color markers.  I really enjoy the vibrancy of color that I can achieve when I use this markers.

The sentiment was white heat embossed onto black cardstock, the background was achieved used a cloud stencil and some distress oxide inks.  In addition I used the Slimline Five Frames Die.

UGH! - A new Slimline Card

Happy Tuesday! I have been meaning to share this slimline card for a while now!
Love all the slimline dies from Whimsy Stamps because you are able to create a story on the front of your card!

This sentiment just makes me laugh! Haven't we all thought this at one time or another?
Sentiment and image are from the Just UGH! Clear Stamp set.  I also used the UHG! Word and Shadow Die Set, the Slimline Windows Die , and paper from the 6x6 Cosmic Paper Pack.

Image was colored with copic markers.

UGH! Whimsy Stamps

Happy Sunday! I have a fun little card to share with you today.  You can mix and match so many of the Whimsy Stamps products to create fun cards and the limit is only your own imagination! This card just makes me smile and reminds me of various mishaps at the ocean-side.  I may have never emerged from the ocean with an octopus on my head, but myself and other members of my family have had some adventures with ocean life!

The images are from the Hippo Beach Fun Clear Stamp Set and were colored up with Copic Markers and then fussy cut.

I cut a mat using one of the fabulous papers in the Cosmic Paper Pack.  I then die cut the word out of the card-stock using the UGH Word and Shadow Die I then used the same die and cut out the word using some red card-stock.  Once I had adhered the mat, I could add the die-cut words as an inset and this creates just one single layer.  I love how this looks!

I created the sand using some Kraft card-stock and one the dies in the Stitched Border Die TrioThis is one of my tried and true sets that I reach for almost every time I create a card. I did blend a little sand coloured ink to the bottom portion to add a little depth.

Whimsy Stamps Mini Release

Happy Monday! A brand new week and a new card from a new release!  I am really liking having these mini releases instead of one big one once a month.

I love Whimsy Stamps line of Slimline Dies and this new one: the Slimline Wonky Window 1 Die is so reminiscent of comic strips that I know that I can create many cards with a story! I used it with the new Super Cats Clear Stamp Set as well as the Kitty Cat Extras Die Set I thought that they would work well together.

I did a little ink blending on the inside panels and then die cut the different elements using a rainbow of colored paper. The cat itself was inked up with Versamark Fine Black Onyx ink and then fussy cut.

Friend

Happy Sunday my friends! I cannot believe that this is the last day of May. It has been a difficult month for us personally. We lost my father-in-law who has been ill for many years and on a constant and steady decline in health.  Now, we wait for our province to open up so that we might have a funeral mass for him.  I keep a lot of my life private but  felt that this was something that I should share with you. Many of you have been my followers for such a long time and I feel connected to you. Not saying anything at all has been weighing on my mind.

One thing that has uplifted us and helped us has been our friends.  Friends that were immediately there for us, offering simple kindness, help and words of love.  The outpouring of support has been extraordinary. I will be sending out a lot of cards of thanks in the coming weeks.

I made this card several weeks ago.  It was created by using the Layered Dahlia Clear Stamp SetI used various shade of Distress Oxide ink to create this look.  It is very simple.  Stamp the largest stamp with your lightest ink, your mid-size stamp with a medium ink and the smallest stamp with your darkest shade.  I used my Misti to make sure that the stamps were all lined up perfectly at each step.

I very much like the look of inks of kraft paper and you can see how well the ink looks.  I cut a vellum strip so that the sentiment was a little more prominent.  I used the Friend Word and Shadow Die Set and the You're Too Kind Clear Stamp Set to create that white embossed word.

Rainbow Fish

Happy Friday my lovelies! Hoping that you are all okay and keeping yourselves safe and occupied!  I have spent the week wearing many different hats.  I have cleaned all the windows (inside and out and with a little help from my youngest), I am helping the youngest with his online learning, cooking and baking, giving the boys a wee bit of a hair trim (very much needed) and making masks for our family, my sister’s as well and my in-laws. I also had a wee bit of a play in my craft room and created this card witch just cheers me up everytime that I see it! I have it on disply on a shelf in my craft room and it just lifts my spirit!

Whimsy Stamps have another mini release this week and it is all cat related.  When I saw this Kitty Cat Extras Die Set I thought that it would be sweet if I had a rainbow shining into the fishbowl and turning all the little fish into rainbow fish and so I got to work to create what I saw in my mind!

The Array of Rainbows Die Set has 3 different rainbow shapes and this one was just the right fit for what I had in mind.  I die cut it as well as the little fishes from the Kitty Cat Extras Die Set and then colored them with my copic markers.  Here is what I used:
Blue: B24 + BG13, Green: GI4, Yellow: Y15 + YR16, Red: R27 + R14

I used one of the dies in the Rounded Rectangles Die Set to and cut out several mats and then cut out the fishbowl from the Kitty Cat Extras Die Set.  I adhered all the mats together so that I had a bit of dimension to my card.  One of the mats I did not die cut with the fishbowl die and instead added some Distress Oxide inks in Peacock Feathers and Salty ocean. I spritzed the whole surface with water using my Distress Sprayer and patted the excess dry using a paper towel.

I created another full sized mat for my card base using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and then adhered everything together. The sentiment is from the Beaver Birthday Clear Stamps but you can change it up for another sentiment from another set!

Mermaid Escape ~ Fresh Friday

Happy Saturday Everyone!  This post should have gone up yesterday (Friday) but I mixed my days up and it is going up today instead.  I am having the hardest time keeping track of what day it is.  Anyone else?

This card was made for this week’s Whimsy Stamps Fresh Friday where we take a look at a collection of products that change out every two weeks and give you some fresh inspiration.

And what's even more fabulous is that these 6 products are 20% off. No coupon code is needed.

My card features two of these products: the Mermaid Escape Clear Stamp Set and the Build and Ocean Die Set.  The stamp set has a coordinating die set (I didn’t use because I wanted to mask) the Mermaid Escape Die set.

Additionally, I used the Peekaboo Window 3 Window die and the  Quick Strips Die set. (these are not included in the 20% sale)

I stamped the images using Memento London Fog ink.  This let me create an “almost” no-line coloring look.  I used Copic Markers for the images and the background water.

The addtional components were all die cut using various colored papers.  I did add some dots to the starfish for a little bit more detail.

The sentiment is from the Mermaid Escape set and was white heat embossed onto black cardstock and then diecut using one of the dies in the Quick Strips Die set.
