Whiff of Joy Shaker Card

Happy Thursday! I hope that your day is off to an amazing start. I have to go in to Montreal today for a dental check-up…I actually love my dentist and all the staff at the clinic…so it is good thing! I plan to do a little early Christmas shopping since I will be downtown and I hope get a few more people on my list taken care of at the same time!

Today I have something a little different (for me) to share with you. This is the first time that I have ever made a shaker card if you can believe it. It has always been a style that I have wanted to try but never got around too. I am quite pleased with the outcome.

I used one of the older Henry Christmas stamps. I think this one is from two years ago. Her is such a sweetheart and needed to be inked up again. I colored him with a combination of distress markers and inks and Twinkling H20s. Love, love the versatility of water-coloring.

I used Martha Stewart coarse glitter for inside the shaker. You can see how it looks when it covers the image in the picture above.

Whiff of Joy Challenge ~ Brown & White

Happy Wednesday everyone. I am having one of those weeks….I have a computer virus that is just not going away. I am pretty clueless about how to fix this, so my hubby and his tech guy are working on it. It is contained and quarantined at the moment, they just can’t get rid of it. I am using my son’s computer at the moment. My coffee cup decided to break off at the handle this morning….while I was holding it! ACK! I had coffee all down my hand, my left-side and over the whole floor. I actually had quick enough reflexes to catch the cup as it was falling….so no broken ceramic to add to the mess! I made an apple-cake and the entire top half remained stuck to the cake pan….looked awful. I pried it out, stuck it all back on and drenched it in icing. The crew were too busy scoffing it down to notice how horrible it looked! Oh….and I spilt an entire box of  lasagne noodles on the floor. They pretty much all broke. What a silly, silly day.

Anyhoo…..here is my card for the Whiff of Joy challenge which is to use a color palette of brown & white.

I colored up this sweet image Christmas Light with Distress Inks using both the inkpads and the markers. I used Twinkling H20 in buttercup to color the glow of the candle as well as the background. I am soooo happy with how the coloration turned out. Since switching to a smaller brush for the more detailed coloring, I am finally achieving the look that I have been wanting.

The paper is from MME Lost & Found Christmas (how did I end up with 3 packs?), the silk ribbon is from Whiff of Joy as is the brad. I used the Whiff of Joy snowflake trio and some felt to create the snowflakes. I love the soft texture of the felt! The lace ribbon is from Stampin’ Up.

Stamp & Create DT Card

Happy Monday Everyone!

Sorry for the late post. I got caught up in finishing a sewing project last night and I burned the midnight oil to get it done. Which means I have been running since my feet hit the floor this morning! Hopefully I will get a chance to take some pictures to share with you!

Today’s card is for Stamp & Create.

I used Little Tilda from Magnolia's new Little Christmas Collection 2012. These images are really so sweet and I hope to get more colored up soon. I colored this  image with Distress inks using both the markers and the re-inkers.  The dot details were made with Rangers Liquid Pearls. I really like how this little touch makes everything pop! I used a bunch of Spellbinder dies to create all the intricate shapes. I think it is really clever of them to create these ornate frames for some of the Labels sets. A little bit of ribbon and some adhesive pearls and this card is done!

Pretty in Pink

Happy Thursday! Hope your week is going well….the weekend is not far away now! For my card today, I took a break from my Copic Markers and used my Distress Inkpads. I have to start using them more because it took me awhile to get this one colored up!

 

The Just Magnolia Challenge this week is to use acetate on your card so I thought I would give it a try. I am also going to submit it to the  Creative Crew challenge which is Cute & Girly.

I stamped the center of the acetate with the Medallion Stamp by SU! using Stazon White ink. I was happy that it dried well and did not smear. Directly behind this, I adhered a paper doily that I stamped with a sentiment.

For some reason, the pink on my colored image and the pink on my DP look very different but IRL they are a much better match! Really!

I received this totally sweet CC Designs Cupcake Kiki stamp from Lacey the other day and she did not stay un-inked for very long! I colored her with Distress inks and paired her up with my favorite Basic Grey DP! Then I added a little bit of stickles to her yummy treat. On the sketch the two panels are bare but I just couldn’t resist adding some ribbon and two cute bows! Iused my favorite tag dies – fancy tags to create the sentiment.

Sketch Saturday

 

Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is off to a lovely start! We have not major outings planned and I hope to relax and enjoy playing some board games with the kidlets. It is rainy and cold and the perfect day for just taking things slow. Something we have not had the chance to do in awhile. I also have some DT work that I would love to get to as well.

Today I have my card for Sketch Saturday to show you. I have used this gorgeous new Tilda and I broke out the distress inks for a little change from my copic markers.

 

The designer paper is actually felted so it has an amazing texture to it. Yummy. I distressed the edges of all my papers with vintage photo and also distressed the doily as it was too white and didn’t look right!I added tons of shimmerz to the dress and gloves and even the socks and shoes. I just love how that one simple step just adds the “wow” factor!

Wags n Whiskers Challenge

High Hopes Challenge

Happy Sunday! I am still running around and am bone tired. What a crazy month! I am sorry for the short posts and lack of commenting but right now the only time I am able to devote is to actually making the cards to post! I hope it will calm down soon.

The High Hopes challenge this week is flutterbies (basically anything with wings) and the HH Divas are taking this to a whole new level. We were being quite silly this week as we chatted and so you NEED to visit all of them to see what (or whom) I mean!

My image is one of the older HH ones but really one of the first “cute” stamps that I ever bought and it still remains a favorite. I changed things up and water-colored it with a mix of H20s and distress inks.

Again, I will come back and edit and provide more detailed info once this crazy weekend is over….fundraisers, hockey finals, etc, etc
