Whiff of Joy Shaker Card

Happy Thursday! I hope that your day is off to an amazing start. I have to go in to Montreal today for a dental check-up…I actually love my dentist and all the staff at the clinic…so it is good thing! I plan to do a little early Christmas shopping since I will be downtown and I hope get a few more people on my list taken care of at the same time!

Today I have something a little different (for me) to share with you. This is the first time that I have ever made a shaker card if you can believe it. It has always been a style that I have wanted to try but never got around too. I am quite pleased with the outcome.

033 copy

I used one of the older Henry Christmas stamps. I think this one is from two years ago. Her is such a sweetheart and needed to be inked up again. I colored him with a combination of distress markers and inks and Twinkling H20s. Love, love the versatility of water-coloring.

I used Martha Stewart coarse glitter for inside the shaker. You can see how it looks when it covers the image in the picture above.

Coloring with Twinkling H20s ~ Video Tutorial

Happy Thursday Everyone! I have a two part video for you today. I show you my method for coloring with Twinkling H20s….those delicious little pots of color and shimmer!

As I say in the video, I am by no means an expert. I am just sharing the technique I use. I have broken the video up into two so that I could load them in HD for you. I have been asked NOT to speed up the videos as I have done in the past. Hope it is not too long now :) Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have enjoyed watching and you get inspired to color with Twinkling H20s as well!

Sketch Saturday # 106

Happy Saturday! The winner of my Paper Bag Candy for Sketch Saturday can be found one post down! This week it is the lovely and extremely talented Paula who is hosting the challenge. Her sketch is super fun to work with and  is perfect for using up your paper scraps. If you are anything like me…………you have a lot of those!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 014

I used this lovely image from Whiff of Joy’s Aladin store kit. I pulled my colors from the DP. I wasn’t happy with how the veil looked. It just didn’t look transparent so I added some Pink Cloud Twinkling H2os to it and then used my white gel pen to cover up the black ink lines. I think it looks more realistic. Then, of course, I decided to go over more of the ink lines within her dress!

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Aladin Store Kit (available at Stamp & Create)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Pomegranite
  • Paper: SU Whisper White, Pomegranite, MME DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, H20s in Pink Cloud
  • Embellies: Adhesive Gem stones, SU Satin Ribbon

I hope you can join us this week. We have a fabulous prize this week from our Sponsor:

Please also stop by the Sketch Saturday Blog to see the lovely creations by my fellow DT sisters!

High Hopes Challenge

Happy Sunday! This week the High Hope challenge is to use two different images (sentiments not included) on your creation. What a great challenge! I love when a challenge invites us to do that “little” extra on our card.

I decided to use Diver Dan and this cute sea turtle and found this scrap of paper in my drawer that worked so perfectly! Don’t you love when that happens?

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 120

The glass in Diver Dan’s scuba mask has been filled in with Glossy Accents to make it look like glass and I used twinkling H20s on the turtle as well as the diver’s suit.

Thanks for stopping by. Today we have a End-of-the-Season Hockey party put on my my middle son’s team. The whole family is invited and we are all looking forward to that. Then the next few weeks are relatively quieter on the social scene so I hope I will have some time to spend in my craft room and for blog hopping too!

If you are looking to purchase High Hopes stamps why not check out our Diva's stores.

Double Challenge Day

Happy Friday! I am so happy that the weekend is here. We will be very busy once again but after this, I will have a couple of weeks that are NOT action-packed.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 118

My first card today is for the Friday Sketchers Challenge and was designed by wonderful Bea. I will admit that I panicked a little when I first saw it. I did not know what to do with the extra panels but then I decided to use this opportunity to create a Confirmation card for my oldest son. He will be Confirmed tomorrow at our church by the Bishop, along with his friends in his Cathechism class.

Once I had that idea, all the components fell into place. I picked the beautiful Confirmand Oakley and Dove images by Whiff of Joy and added the Magnolia Easter 2009 stained glass window as a background. I tried to capture the look of our stone walls in our church by adding dots in different shades and then going over them with my colorless blender pen. I have been seeing this look on different blogs recently and decided to try it out. I also added twinkling H20s in Buttercup  to the window and vest and some Shimmerz in Angel wings to the dove.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 118 Since this card was created specifically for my son, every component has a special meaning. Of course the little angel boy is my son and the dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. The window and his vest have been colored in his favorite color and I tried to make the background look like our church wall. The musical DP is because he loves music and plays the violin beautifully. The bell symbolizes the bells that he rings at mass when he is altar server…….he always adds that one extra little shake because he thinks it sounds better!  I hope he likes it :)

Be sure to check out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.  We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog. Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights

This week the Wags ‘n Whiskers challenge was picked by Sharon and she has asked us to have scallops on our card.  I know, you are thinking I bombed this challenge bit look closely…….see the clouds? There are my scallops! I can be so tricky sometimes! LOL! I had it in my mind to use this Alota sand castle image with this cutie-pie and the clouds were just perfect! These new Wags images by Cris de Lara are such fun to color up and they are so unique! You can get them -->here<--  . I paired the images up with some Basic Grey Lime Rickey DP and just a little band of Papertrey ribbon and a couple of hat-pins to finish it off!

High Hopes Challenge

High Hopes Stamps - Page 027

Happy Sunday! I am still running around and am bone tired. What a crazy month! I am sorry for the short posts and lack of commenting but right now the only time I am able to devote is to actually making the cards to post! I hope it will calm down soon.

The High Hopes challenge this week is flutterbies (basically anything with wings) and the HH Divas are taking this to a whole new level. We were being quite silly this week as we chatted and so you NEED to visit all of them to see what (or whom) I mean!

My image is one of the older HH ones but really one of the first “cute” stamps that I ever bought and it still remains a favorite. I changed things up and water-colored it with a mix of H20s and distress inks.

Again, I will come back and edit and provide more detailed info once this crazy weekend is over….fundraisers, hockey finals, etc, etc

Hugs Jeanette

Stamp & Create Spotlight & WOJ Store Kit

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 080 Happy Monday! Well, March break is over and the kidlets are back at school now. Time to get back into a routine!

This week the product spotlight over at Stamp & Create is RIBBON! Have you seen the stock that Lacey is carrying now?!  I used up everything she sent me in my DT package and had to order MORE! It is one of the most luxurious items you can add to your card! Since it is our spot-light…that means it is also on special! You can save 25% this week! That is an amazing deal!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 081

For this card, I used my Bow Easy and this gorgeous blue silk ribbon. This is so light and soft and I just LOVE working with it (if you look at my last few projects I have used silk ribbon on almost all of them!) Oh, and I know I will get tons of emails about this…. the frame is actually two Nellie circular die cuts that I stuck together and hid the joint with the ribbon.

The image is from the WOJ Retail Stamp kit. This kit will only be available through certain retail stores. There is a list of these stores at the WOJ site.I am happy to tell you that Stamp & Create is taking pre-orders for it! Honestly, it is really a great bargain and the images are super sweet and they can be mixed and matched with other WOJ images so easily. (Check out my card tomorrow!)

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 080Be sure to check out all the samples that are on the Stamp & Create Blog. I want to extend a warm welcome to Chris and Niki who have joined the team. Their work is so inspiring. I am sure you will love their creations. I know I do!

Thanks also to everyone for their wonderful and encouraging comments re my first video. I am working on bringing you a lot more and I have listened to your requests and I will do an extensive series on Copic coloring, H20s, & Prismacolors.  I am also going to show you how I color my images from different stamps companies as well as some small “how-to” videos! I hope to get some up soon! Stay tuned.

Friday Double Challenge Day

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 079

Happy Friday! This week over at Friday Sketchers, Claudia has created a wonderful sketch for us all to play with! Thanks Sweetie!

I have used one of the images that is in the Whiff of Joy Retail Store kit. This will not be sold through the WOJ online store, but rather by retail stores. The stores carrying them are listed here but I already know where you can get it!  Lacey from Stamp & Create is currently taking pre-orders for the kit.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 079

I had my distress inks  and H20s still out from my last project so I decided to give them a go with this cutie. It gives such a different look, doesn’t it?

Here is a look at the kit! Aren’t they gorgeous? What I love the most is that these can be mixed and matched with images from the other collections! I already have a few ideas in mind.

Be sure to check out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.  We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog. Our sponsor this week is wonderful Motivet Stamps!
