Happy Sunday! As promised, I am here with a sneak peek of some of the new Whiff of Joy digital (yes, I said digital) images that will be released on April 1st.
A few months ago, I saw an amazing Hallowe’en banner on Nichol Magourik’s blog. I fell in love with it and knew that I wanted to create a birthday one for our boys. When I saw the new WoJ release, I realized that they were perfect to accent my banner. I also added the Henry Spidermouse image that is a freebie that you can get ~here~.
This did take a long time to make but the look on the boys’ faces when they saw it was worth every hour I put into making it….then the older one said…..are you going to make a Christmas one and an Easter one…how about a Halloween one? ACK! What have I started?!
I used my Silhouette to cut out the each banner and scalloped mat. I {heart} how easy it was to do and how perfect they all came out. I machine-stitched each one and it just finished them off perfectly. I followed Nichol’s video tutorial which you can find ~here~. If you don’t have a Silhouette, I am sure you could still create the banner by cutting out triangles and using a border punch to create a decorate edge to add around it. All my papers were old Stampin’ Up that I have had in my stash for ages. It felt great to use them up. The letters were cut with my Silhouette as well. I ended up adding little dots at a few of the edges with my white gel pen just to make them pop a little.
I printed out the digi images after re-sizing them to be 4” long. That seemed to be the right proportion for the pennants. I colored the images with Copic markers and cut them out all out, leaving a thin white border around them. I had planned at the beginning to add an image to each pennant but as I progressed I realized that it would detract from the images if there were too many. Instead I created a matted star for some of them using left-over paper scraps. Again, so pleased to be making good use of my stash. I strung the banner on some brown taffeta ribbon and then because it looked too plain like that, I added some red and white hemp twine from Whiff of Joy. That was the perfect touch!
Here are close-ups of each pennant:
So, there you have what has been taking up so much of my time :) All the images will be available as of April 1st so you don’t have long to wait to get them. There are 4 more images in the release that I haven’t used yet so look for them in the next few days!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope I inspire you to make one of these cute banners yourself!
Hugs Jeanette xxo
