Sweet Gretchen ~ The Sweet Stop #23

Sweet N Sassy - Page 120

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I know things have been pretty quiet these past few days but I haven’t spent a whole lot of time on the computer. So many things to do around the house and organizing the family’s busy schedule! Whew! I love the hustle and bustle and the feeling of change! The markets are full of harvest vegetables & fruits and I went a little crazy yesterday. I bought a box, yes BOX of fruits & veggies and have been busy making soups and purees, casseroles and pies. If you had seen my hubby’s face yesterday when I arrived home! Of course, with 3 growing boys, I feel like I actually AM feeding an army these days!

I also have been busy working on a whole bunch of DT cards but I can’t show them to you…….YET!!  But I promise that I will soon be able to share and I can’t wait.

Today I have my card for the Sweet Stop to show you. It is such a great sketch and I seized the opportunity to use the Sweet Gretchen set. She is one of the older sets but she is new to me and I just love her sweet little expression and she is also on SALE!

She is the perfect image to paper piece as well. I stamped her once on my Neenah Solar crest and then another time on the patterned paper. I used a brown prismacolor pencil & OMS to shade a little bit on the dress and then my copics to color the collar and the belt. Then I cut it out and adhered it to the Neenah image. I love the look it gives to the card with the same patterned paper as the background!

  • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Sweet Gretchen –image and sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Cardstock, Basic Grey Porcelain
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Prismacolors & OMS
  • Embellies: K&Co Adhesive Gems, Papertrey Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by and tomorrow it is the Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog Hop and we will be showing you our newest releases plus there will be a chance to win them.

A Perfect Day ~ Sketch Saturday #70

Sketch Saturdays - Page 124

Happy Saturday! Today I have my Sketch Saturday DT card to show you. Our sponsor for this week is The Craft Barn.

The Craft Barn is nominated for Best Independent store for South of England in the Craft Awards 2009. With so much available in store it's not hard to see why!
They have been such generous sponsors of SS so………PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
To vote for The Craft Barn, please click HERE .

Today is also the last week for my friend and fellow DT Sandra. She needs to step down and I am going to miss her like crazy. She has such a great artistic flair and I love her style! So, today is a little bit sad for me.

I really like creating little scenes with combinations of stamps. These two I have had for a little while now and they hadn’t been inked up yet. I had to move some of the elements of the sketch around because my house image is quite large. The first thing I did was stamp out the houses and then airbrushed the sky around them. I didn’t mask them because frankly that was going to be way too much cutting! I then colored the houses with my copics and then I airbrushed over that coloring with E31. I didn’t try to be too precise and what happened is that I have cool shadows and such in the sky and around the houses. What do you think? Tilda was stamped and colored and then cut out. I think she looks very elegant with her little hat! I duplicated the airbrushing for the sentiment and then added my embellies.

  • Stamps: Magnolia, WoJ Sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Chocolate Chip for sentiment
  • Paper: Bazzill, SU Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
  • Coloring: Copic Markers & Airbrushing
  • Embellies: SU Ribbon, Button, Pearls from Pretties Kit

Here is the sketch and I hope you get the opportunity to give it a go. I love seeing your work!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

My fellow DT sisters took my simple little sketch and did wondrous things with it so you really have to check out the FS Challenge this week. Our own dear Bea is sponsoring our week with 3 gorgeous new Motivet stamps from her store megahobby! I am jealous! I want a chance to win these ones. They are wonderful!

I had planned on using one of the new WOJ Henry Stamps but my DT package still hasn’t arrived. I am worried it has been lost. BOO! So in the end I decided to use this cute ATS image instead and make a Hallowe’en card. I really love this cutie and had a create time coloring her up.

Copic Creations Challenge

Magnolias - Page 073

Happy Thursday Everyone! I happen to love Thursdays. The anticipation for the weekend begins and tonight one of my favorite shows – Grey’s Anatomy begins a new season. I have to admit to being totally hooked. I have watched since the very first episode and I think part of why I love it  is because I did work for so many years at a hospital and I know the craziness that goes on first hand!

Today I have a card that I made for the Copics Creation Challenge which is to use both prismacolors and copic markers to color your image. This is something that I have done a few times and I really love the result. The thing you have to remember is: color with your copics FIRST and then the prismacolors & OMS. If you do it the other way around you are going to ruin your copics.

Claudia sent me the stamped image of the Hanglar (I love these babies, I wish I could get them here) and she also gave me the fancy pearl brad. Thanks sweetie!

I also have to tell you that I am super excited that I am registered for a Copic Certification course in November! Yippee! I couldn’t believe it when I saw that they were coming to MontrĂ©al!

  • Stamps: Stamped Hanglar Image from Claudia
  • Paper: SU Sahara Sand, Brocade Blue, Bella Bleue
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Prismacolors & OMS
  • Embellies: SU Brocade Blue Ribbon, Brad from Claudia

Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow it is my turn to host Friday Sketchers and I’ll have my card and sketch to show you.

I also have some fun news to share but I have to wait a little bit longer to tell you all…………

Sweet Stop #22

Sweet N Sassy - Page 118

Happy Wednesday! Already the middle of the week! Today I am showing you my card for this week’s Sweet Stop. This week involves an added challenge which is to use tan, black & red along with the sketch on your card. There is also an amazing prize up for grabs! You can win these two sets: Waddle I Do? and You Light up My Life. I really love both these sets. They are super fun to color and perfect for Christmas.

I have used the new digi image that was drawn by our very own Chris. It is called Shepherd Boy. The minute I saw it, I knew that I would have to get it. It is  perfect for a traditional Christmas card. I printed it out twice. I colored the shepherd and his sheep and then cut them out. With the second image, I cut it out with a Spellbinder’s circle die and then airbrushed over it with black and green. Then I adhered the colored image right onto it.

Here’s the sketch. Remember, if you don’t have any Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps, you can still play along! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! I have more fun stuff and maybe an announcement or two for you in the coming days, so stay tuned!!!!!

I don’t know which one is my favorite! I have used the wonderful sketch by Bev which is for the Just Magnolia challenge this week. Again, I have used blue…..what can I say? It is my favorite color and I just always gravitate toward it. If you looked in my closet you would see that I have so much blue…..can’t help myself!

Chef Tilda ~ CCT Challenge

Magnolias - Page 071Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! We had a very fun & relaxing one. I can’t believe how gorgeous the weather has been all month! I planted a whole bunch of tulip, daffodil and crocus bulbs in the new garden bed in the backyard. It will be so nice next Spring to see them come up! We also went on our annual Apple Picking trip. We have been going to the same place even before we had the kids so it is a real tradition. The weather was perfect and so were the apples. My little guy was so funny. He keeps calling it the “Applesauce Forest”!  We went on a tractor pull ride and the older boys climbed ladders to get the apples at the very top of the trees. Of course tonight we had a yummy Apple Crisp for dessert and tomorrow I think I’ll make a pie. Can you tell I love apples?

I also had the chance to play with more of the cute Tildas from the Fall Kit. They just keep getting sweeter and sweeter. I decided to use this Chef Tilda  and create a card. I saw a tutorial for it on Split-coasters and I thought it would be perfect for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge which was to have a hidden message. You can find the instructions here. This is how it looks when you open it up. The little tab pops up with your message! Cute eh?

I think I might have to buy some of these images myself! Just click on the picture below and it will take you there! I know, I know, I am such an enabler.

This week I came across Kirsten’s blog and she had made the loveliest little box with four little drawers.  She also had a really well-done tutorial to go along. I just had to give it a go and although mine is not as gorgeous as hers, I really love how it turned out!   I think I am going to make more of these for sure!

    Mini Folder ~ Magnolia-licious Challenge

    Magnolias - Page 069

Hi Everyone! Sorry for my lack of posting. I was so busy this weekend and pretty exhausted from canning all those tomatoes! My neighbour and I prepared 194 two-litre jars of tomato sauce. Whew. My two older kids helped out as did my neighbor’s daughter and they really worked as hard as the adults!

I had a lot of paperwork and such to catch up on and the of course the never-ending laundry to do.

They have a tremendous challenge over at Magnolia-licious High-Lites Challenge to create this cute little folder. They even give you the instructions. It was too hard to resist so here is mine! I used this cute little Tilda from the Fall kit and some yummy Bo Bunny paper.

    Here are some other views:

So, a short post today. I am having one of those days when you just cannot seem to get anything accomplished!

I love how the leaves are falling all around her. So pretty! The background was airbrushed with YR21 and then lightly sponged around the sides with a brown ink. I was going for a bit of a  glow around Charlotte!

    Wedgewood ~ Friday Sketchers # 69

    Friday Sketchers Week #69

Happy Friday! This week on Friday Sketchers, it is Jacqueline who is hosting the challenge with this fabulous sketch. This one made me think a little! Last week was dear Heidi’s last week with the challenge (sniff) and we now welcome the lovely Aud to the team. She will replace Heidi. Our sponsor this week is Scrapbook News and Review, great chance to a grab a great prize!

I decided to put create a whole plate with the stamp of the half one that I received in the Magnolia Fall Kit. They two pieces did not match together exactly so I stamped them a little apart and then filled in the missing lines with my Copic Multi-liner. I don’t think you can tell unless you look really closely!

I love blue & white china like Blue Willow and Wedgewood and so this was the inspiration for the color palette that I used.

    • Stamps: Magnolia Fall Kit 2009, Papertrey Sentiment
    • Ink: Tuxedo Black, SU Brilliant Blue
    • Paper: SU Blue Bayou, Bashful Blue, DP from Stash
    • Coloring: Copic Markers
    • Embellies: Hero Arts Pearls, May Arts ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today! Tonight we start the process of canning tomatoes. Once a year my neighbour (who is Italian) and I can about 12 bushels together so that we each have sauce for the whole year. It is HARD work but now the kids are able to help more so we get it done faster. Tonight we will wash them all and let them dry overnight!

    For You ~ ATS Card

    Jeanette GDT -1

Happy Thursday! I have a quick post today to show you one of the cards I created last month when I was the ATS Guest Designer.  I wanted to create a soft and elegant card and so I used a tone on tone with a little punch of the black. I paper pierced around the image which was stamped and then airbrushed with a final touch of sponging along the sides. I did some stitching along the sides (please don’t look to carefully)!

    • Stamps: All That Scraps AmyR Stamps Fresh Flowers
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Blue Bayou
    • Paper: SU Basic Black, Blue Bayou, Retired DP
    • Coloring: Copic Airbrusing, Sponging
    • Embellies: SU Hodge Podge Set, May Arts Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by! I will have my DT card for Friday Sketchers tomorrow and all I can say is that I spent A LOT of time on this one!

    Sweet Stop & CPS Challenges

Sweet N Sassy - Page 114 Happy Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by! I have two cards to show you today. This first one is for The Sweet Stop Challenge. I used the Autumn blessings set from Sweet ‘n Sassy. The papers are all from my never-empty scrap drawer. I colored the leaf with a combination of copic airbrushing and twinkling H20s.  One of the neat things about acrylic stamps is that you can shape them a little when you place them on your stamping block. I like how I was able to mimic the oval with the sentiment.

    Sweet N Sassy - Page 113

This card is my entry to the CPS challenge this week. I have used Sweet ‘n Sassy’s Funny Farm set. It is so cute and I love the little words that come with it. Again, I used paper from stash and the coloring is Copic Markers.

Have a great day! I hope you might get the chance to participate in these fun challenges as well!
