Copic Color Combos ~ Skin, Hair, Clothing

Happy Wednesday Everyone! WOW! The kids and I have been taking advantage of school being finished by sleeping in! LOVE IT!

Before I get to my post content today I wanted to share a wee bit of news with you. I have stepped down from both the High Hopes and Wags & Whiskers Design teams. It was a tough decision to make as I have been with these teams almost 2 years but it was time for me. It was getting hard to devote enough time to all of the stamp companies that I design for and I felt that it was better for me to step aside and let someone else fill my spot :) I have loved being part of each team and will truly miss my fellow team-mates.

I will stay on my remaining teams as well have more time for videos that you all have been asking for :) As well, I have been working with some lovely fellow blogging friends on a little fun something new……maybe you have seen the news? If not, I’ll announce it soon ;)

By far, the question I get asked the most is what a my favorite color combos and what are good colors for skin and hair. I worked on some charts that I used to teach with and have decided to share it with all my blogging friends too. I am sorry that I had to place my watermarks all over them but, as I have sadly learnt, there are some naughty people out there that sometime take things not their own and sell them. I can’t get over the cheek of some people. So sorry for the the watermark.

Hope this inspires you to try out some new combos! Enjoy!

Reach for the Stars

Happy very late Sunday night or very early Monday morning…depending on where you live! LOL! We had a busy day today and now is the first chance I have had to get this posted!

As I mentioned in my Saturday post, Katharina, has a brand new Whiff of Joy digital image that is a tribute to the late Michael Jackson. I really think that Alison Acton has captured his spirit in her illustration. I thought I would alter a note-book for my middle son. He loved the image when he saw it. He loves to dance and is quite good at it. We never knew this until last summer when we brought him to a wedding reception after the dinner. He hit the dance floor and was dancing like you wouldn’t believe whilst we were standing watching with our mouths gaping open. Our friends thought he must have been taking lessons! Little monkey!

2011 - Page 193

I added the glitter red paper onto the notebook using Scor-tape. I know that it will stay put with this strong adhesive. I found a little scrap of this note paper and it was perfect to wrap around the spine.

To create Henry’s spotlight I just measured a piece of silver metallic paper to the same length of the book and cut it at an angle on each side. I then took a  circle nestie die and used it to trace the arc on the spotlight using a paper piercer. I then colored that section in with Oyster Twinkling H20.

Henry was colored using the following Copic Sketch Markers:

E00, E07, E50, E51, E53, E93, E95, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, R05, R08, R17, colorless blender

I then added Twinkling H20’s to his glove, t-shirt, shirt and hat. These are the ones I used:

Siam White, Poppy Red, China Black

2011 - Page 192

The sentiment is from one of Whiff of Joy’s new sentiment sets. It is such a wonderful set full of heartfelt and inspirational quotes. I embossed the sentiment with black powder on the same metallic cardstock I had used earlier.

Here are some links for you:

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great day.

Sketch Saturday Week # 161

Happy Saturday Everyone! We are having a wee bit of a rainy spell here. Tough for the kids as they are just starting their Summer Break and would rather be running wild outside! So instead, they are running wild inside! LOL! I’m just kidding!

Today’s card is for this week’s Sketch Saturday Challenge and features a sweet image by Wee Stamps. I love the sweetness of her images. I broke out some of my new Bo Bunny paper and colored her up to match.

June 2011 - Page 005

I added some shading with a black prismacolor pencil and softened it up by using OMS to blend it out. As you can see, I used tons of dies to create borders, banners and flowers! The banners are from Papertrey Ink and the rest are MFT. I don’t remember where I pulled the little sentiment out from. I made this card a few weeks ago.

I hope that if you get the chance you will want to play along with us over at Sketch Saturday. We are being sponsored by the lovely  Craft Barn. Here is the sketch:

As well, I wanted to let you know that Katharina has such a wonderful Whiff of Joy digital stamp released in honor of Michael Jackson. You will find it at the store by clicking on the banner below. I hope to get the chance to create with this one today! Stay tuned!

Have a great day!

La~La Land Friday Inspiration ~Pearls, Lace, Punches

Happy Friday Everyone! Sorry for being so quiet here this last week. It has been a really busy and crazy few weeks at our house. Sometimes my crafting needs to take a back seat while I take care of the family!

The kids are officially on Summer Vacation now and we all look forward to some relaxing and fun times together. I am happy to have a respite from making lunches! LOL! I will be blogging for sure but there may be gaps here and there. I have worked a bit in advance with DT projects and videos so hopefully I won’t go too long without posts.

Today’s card is for this week’s Inspiration Friday and our theme is PEARLS, LACE AND PUNCHES.

 LALA2011 - Page 184

I have used Roller skate Marci who is a new release from La-La Land Craft’s Sport collection. She was colored up with copics and I added some pearls to her helmet! A pretty simple layout and made with bits and pieces from my never-emptying scrap drawer.

Smile

Happy Sunday and Happy Father’s Day  to all the wonderful dads out there. I have already posted the card that I made for my hubby so I don’t have a Father’s day themed card for you today :)

Instead, I was able to ink up a Magnolia stamp and create this fun step card.

2011 - Page 123

The window frame is from Alota Stamps and I paper pieced the curtains. I added some shadows with my C1 copic marker. I cut out the window panes and adhered this partial stamped image of a Magnolia tree to the back with some foam dimensional tape. I don’t use my Magnolia accessory stamps nearly enough and I love how they help create little scenes. Here is a close-up:

2011 - Page 119

and here is a side-view:

2011 - Page 121

The sentiment is from Verve stamps and I used a Stampin’Up frame stamp and punch. the paper is all from MME Stella Rose 6x6 paper pack. The flowers are all from my stash.

2011 - Page 122

I am entering this in the Just Magnolia & Hanglar challenge: paper piecing.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.

Sketch Saturday Week # 160

Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start! Today my card is for this week’s Sketch Saturday Challenge. I have been itching to use another of MFT’s à la modes and this one is just perfect to send to someone that you have not seen in a while to invite them out for a coffee!

The image was quickly colored in with Copic Sketch markers.. The paper is from MME and I used felt and metal dies to create my embellies. I will link them all at the end of this post for you.

June 2011 - Page 024

I added some machine stitching for a little more interest and the sentiment is one of a few that comes with the image. The swirls around the focal image were made with a Stempelgelde stamp.

Whiff of Joy Fall Stamp Kit Pre-order

****my La-La Friday Inspirational Card is one blog down***

I am back again because I cannot contain my excitement about the Whiff of Joy Fall Kit which is pre-ordering right now! I often have people tell me how much they regret not ordering the kit ahead of time so this is for all of you my dear friends. You save money when you order the images as a group and they are all always “must-haves”. Plus, you get them first!

I saw this sneak peek and almost fainted with happiness:

Is it a bit crazy that I am already picking out the copic marker combos that I will be using and am designing a card in my mind? Please tell me you are doing the same thing!

Just click on this image and it will take you directly to where you can pre-order this “magical” kit!

Have a great day everyone!

La~La Land Inspiration Friday ~ Touch of Red

Happy Friday Everyone! Whew! It has been quite the week for me. First of all, Canada Post is on strike….has been for the last 2 weeks but at first they were rotating cities so we were still getting our mail, just not every day. Now the whole service has ground to a halt. Not great for someone who gets almost all her supplies and all her DT packages by mail :( and I can’t post any cards on ebay.

Air Canada is out on strike …and now our bridge which is the closest access to Montreal has had one span shut down because it is structurally unsound.  That means it is going to be a major head-ache to get anywhere. Then, the final blow was when my computer totally stopped working. ACK! Although we have a good anti-virus service, it seems something got into my system. No mail, no bridge and then no computer. I was feeling desperately cut off yesterday! Thankfully, my hubbie’s cousin is a computer geek…er I mean hero and he was able to get everything all working. Breathing a little easier now.

Okay enough of my sob story or I will have to re-name my blog LOL!

This week our La-La Land Inspiration is all about A Splash of Red!

I decided to use the cutie patootie Fishing Luka for my card. My splash of red is on the fishing rod, his shoe-laces and that one button. The fish was a download from Silhouette and the polaroid frame was a free download from Lilypad.

I created the lettering myself and cut it out with my Silhouette. I always tease my hubbie and his friend when they come back from their fishing trips about their tales about the number and size of the fishes they say they catch! LOL!

Copic Sketch Markers used:

  • Pail & socks: C00, C1, C3

You are more than welcome to play along as we would love to see your creations with La-La Land Crafts stamps. Please link your projects to our Customer Gallery.

That is it for me. I will be posting again tomorrow with a fun girly card!

An Apple for Teacher ~ Whiff of Joy DT Card

Happy Tuesday. Hope your day is off to a wonderful start. We are having more rain today. OMGosh, the garden is growing like crazy with all this rain. We have a clematis plant that has now grown all the way up our deck and it is still going. My little guy keeps calling it the “beanstalk” and I am starting to think he is right! Anyway, at least the garden is doing well :)

My card today features another image and sentiment from Whiff of Joy’s new Back 2 School collection. It is such a fabulous release and I am really enjoying playing with it!

dsc_6650

This fun apple shape was a free download over at the Silhouette store a couple of weeks ago. I knew for sure I could use it with this new stamp collection. I played around with it in the software and created a card base as well. I wanted to keep it clean and simple so I only added a little sponging and some white dots with my gel pen. I stamped this wonderful sentiment onto this banner shape that also comes with apple. A little sponging and some sweet little buttons complete it. Here is another view:

sc2011 - Page 178

I used the lovely Sarah Kay stamp: Juliet in the garden of nasturtiums to create this criss-cross pocket card. You can find my video ~here~ showing you how to do it.

I also added a small heart charm underneath the satin bow. I used a MFT border die to create the sweet scalloped edges. It adds such a romantic look, don’t you think?

Here you can see the inside. I decided to machine stitch two wonky lines around the edges for a touch of whimsy.

sc2011 - Page 177

The pull tags on the top were made with a Spellbinders fancy tag die and the sentiment and stamped flower are from Verve Stamps.

Have a great rest of the day!

MFTGIFTCERTBLANK

2011 - Page 176

I used one of the MFT à la modes stamps. I am seriously addicted to this line of cuties and you’ll be seeing more on my blog in the weeks to come! This one is called All Star. She was a piece of cake to color up with my copic markers. I added some blue shading around her and stamped the sides with my new Stemplegelde corner stamp. These are two things that I often see my friend Inge doing on her cards and I totally {heart} this effect so I decided to give it a try.

2011 - Page 175

The sentiment is one of a few that come with the image and I just used my corner rounder around the edges and lightly sponged it to soften it up. The flowers and leaves were all made with felt using MFT dies. These are so much fun to make. I love making my own embellishments!

2011 - Page 174

Just click on the pictures, they are linked right to the products!

Here is the sketch. Have fun and I can’t wait to see all of your creations! You can enter at the Sketch Saturday Challenge blog!
