Sketch Saturday ~ Halloween

Happy Saturday! My children are beyond excited about Halloween! I am hoping that tomorrow will be a “spooktacular” night to go Trick or Treating! The weather forecast keeps changing! My eldest feels that he is to “old” to go out this year. He is after all 12 years old! LOL! He will stay with my hubbie and hand out the treats and I will take Darth Vader and Buzz Lightyear to collect treats around our neighbourhood.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 132

This is my card for this week’s Sketch Saturday challenge. I have had this sweet Motivet image “Bat on a Pumpkin” colored up for a while now but finally the right sketch came around to showcase it! I am still using up all my bits of Hallowe’en scrap paper. It never seems to end! The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up set.

I hope you can play along with us over at Sketch Saturday this week. This week’s challenge is sponsored by our generous regular sponsor: The Craft Barn

Friday Sketchers & Wags ‘n Whiskers Challenges

Happy Friday! Sorry for so many days between postings. It has been a busy week for me and I just didn’t have too much time to devote to my blog, but I do have two cards to share with you today!

This week Friday Sketchers is being hosted by my good friend Claudia and as usual, her sketch is a gorgeous one.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 228

This is one of the new Christmas Magnolias. I think she is absolutely the sweetest little thing. I paired her up with some gorgeous Christmas DP. I love how muted and rich the colors are. I decided to add just a touch of ribbon and this sparkly slider and found that I didn’t need anything else!

  • Stamps: Magnolia 2010 Christmas Collection
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Sahara Sand Cardstock, Basic Grey Wassail Collection
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Stickles ~ Diamond
  • Embellies: Oval Ribbon Slider, May Arts Ribbon

Be sure to check out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.

Aud, Bea, Claudia, Tanja, Jacque, Janneke, Jorunn Inge

We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog. We are being hosted this week by Lauretta’s Digital Stamps.

My next card is for this week’s Wags ‘n Whiskers Challenge which is Black & White. We have changed the challenge rules. You can now use any stamp you wish although we would still love to see your Wags creations!

I was inspired by the Cute Card Thursday challenge which was to used acetate as well as the A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge which is to “get punchy”.  My patterned paper is on the inside of the card and the colored image is on the front acetate panel.

This image “He Loves Mewas what came to mind when I saw this particular challenge. I thought she would look perfect as an old-fashioned “snapshot”.

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 136

I think you can see it better in this picture:

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 135

    here is another view:

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 134

and a close up of the colored image. I used Copics C00, C1, C3, C5,C7,C9 and sponged with Brushed Corduroy distress ink. And because I know that I will be asked (LOL!) the fancy lace is from Stamp & Create and can be found ~here~. It is gorgeous!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 133

Don’t be afraid to try out a black & white palette. It is not as hard as you may think and you will end up loving the results!

You can see more Black & White creations created by the talented Divas on the Wags ‘n Whiskers Blog.

Thanks for stopping by and once again, sorry about my lack of postings this week!

    Stamp & Create Product Spotlight

Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was a great one! I have a couple of cards to show you today!

The first one is a Hallowe’en card that I created to showcase one of the stamps that are on sale for another week over at Stamp & Create!  All stamps in the "Halloween" category are on sale for the next two weeks for 25% off!!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 242

The image is the adorable Sweet November Trick or Treat Witch . I have used this image before but I just had to ink it up one more time! I colored it up with Copic Markers to match my DP which is basically just odds and ends left over from my Hallowe’en paper stash. I used the bow easy to create this huge bow with luxurious checked ribbon. The pumpkin was a little stamp I found for a $1. The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up and the spider web is from Magnolia. I am entering this card in the Our Creative Corner challenge. This week they have a color challenge and I have all the colors on my card!

    *****

My next card features one of the new Whiff of Joy stamps featuring the sweetest pair of penguin! I had a blast coloring these cuties up.

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 239

I used the sketch from this week’s Papertake Challenge and followed the challenge from this week’s WOJ challenge which was “distressing”. I used some of the fabulous new WoJ paper! Such a perfect match for this stamp collection.

    * stamp and sentiments are also available at Stamp & Create

Well, that is it for me today! Hope you have a great day.

My next card is for this week’s Wags’nWhiskers Challenge which is “Merry & Bright”. I pulled out this stamp Sweet Danni & Bella from our first collection. It has been too long since I inked this sweetie up!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 240

I found this wonderful card sketch over at Card Patterns Challenge and thought it showcased this cutie wonderfully. The paper is Basic Grey Eskimos Kisses and the ribbon is May Arts taffeta. I added a little liquid applique to the kitten’s hat. Such a fun effect.

    Chef Tilda Apron Card

Happy Wednesday! I am scheduling this post the night before as I have a Cardio-Tone class tomorrow morning. I have no idea what this really entails. I take Celtic dancing classes but aside from that, the last time I took a group exercise class at a gym was BK…before kids and it was just called “Aerobics”! LOL!  So I have fingers crossed that I can make it through the whole class!

The project that I have to show you today is one I made to enter in the Magnolia-liscious Highlites challenge which is “We’re Cooking”. Basically you are to create something food related and/or contains a recipe. My “recipe” is actually the supplies that I needed to whip up this little apron! Here is what I came up with!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 231

I remembered seeing apron cards a long while ago but where? I could not remember where! So I googled it and found a wonderful template ~here~.

    • Stamp: Magnolia Chef Tilda from 2009 Yummy Tummy Collection
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: Bazzill Cardstock, Fancy Pants Happy Together Designer Paper
    • Coloring: Copic Sketch Markers
    • Other Supplies: Diamond Stickles, Brown Grosgrain Ribbon, Prima Flower,                Martha Stewart Lattice Punch, Jumbo Brads

Most of the supplies came from Scrapbook Centrale so if you are in the Montreal area you can pick them all up there! You will also be able to see this project in person as I am creating some samples for the store and will be offering some Copic Coloring classes there as well! Stay tuned for the dets!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 230

This was such a fun project to do and I hope it inspires you to try a little something new!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by!

High Hopes Challenge ~ A Recipe

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Thanks for stopping by today! I have my card for this week’s High Hopes Challenge to show you today. We were given a recipe by Amy and her challenge is:

1 Circle, 2 Squares, and a Scalloped Edge

Here is what I came up with:

    whiff of joy 2010 - page 237

I used this incredibly sweet stamp: Snowy Portrait. I know that I will be using this one for my personal Christmas cards this year! I used Kraft cardstock to form an A2 base and then ran the front through my Cuttlebug using a snowflakes embossing folder. I then lightly sponged white ink over the panel which high-lighted the raised areas.

I am going to enter this into A Spoonful of Sugar’s Challenge. The theme this week is “Boo”.

Hope you can join in our challenge this week! The prize is 3 High Hopes stamps! Can’t wait to see how you interpret the recipe!

If you upload your card to Splitcoast stampers, please use keyword HHC93:(which stands for High Hopes Challenge 93).

If you need a High Hopes stamp, why not check out the Diva Stores:

    Celebrating the Season!

Happy Monday Everyone! I just returned from working out at the gym and let me tell you, my legs feel like jell-o. I have a lot of work ahead of me!

Today I have two cards to show you and they both celebrate different holiday seasons!

The first one is a card I created for Stamp & Create’s Product Spotlight which this week is “Hallowe’en” All Hallowe’en themed stamps will be at a 25% discount! That is a phenomenal deal!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 238

I used the whimsical "Boo Family in Frame"  and "Boo" sentiment by High Hopes Stamps. I used Nestabilities dies to create my card base. Lacey doesn’t have this one in stock but Labels 16 would give a very similar effect! I added some gorgeous brown & ivory check ribbon to finish the card off! I will enter this into the Magical Monday Challenge and Stamp with Fun challenges both whose theme this week is Hallowe’en.

My second card features one of the newly released Whiff of Joy Stamps! Isn’t he the sweetest. A must have if you love sweet cuddly bears ~ Ice-Beary Greetings! (can also be found at Stamp & Create ~here~)

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 225

My fellow DT member Nichol had created some snow-globe cards using her Silhouette. Now I am not in possession of one of these lovelies but I loved the effect so much that I figured out how to create one myself using circle nestabilities and a little free-hand drawing! There is an acetate circle covering the colored image and it gives a fun effect. I created the snow-cap by adding liquid appliquĂ© and some crystal stickles. The paper is by Best Creations and the image is colored with Copic Sketch markers! The tag is made with a Fancy Tags spellbinders die and the sentiment is also WOJ from one of the new sentiment sets!

That is it for me! I have more laundry to fold (it is neverending) and the groceries to do before my kiddies are home!

    Sketch Saturday # 125

Happy Saturday! Thanks for stopping by today! I have my card for this week’s Sketch Saturday to show you. I have used one of the adorable new Magnolia stamps from the Cozy Autumn collection but I think that she looks perfect on a Christmas card too!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 234

The “Christmas” sentiment is also Magnolia and the DP is Basic Grey’s Wassail. The “Happy Holidays” tag is made using Spellbinder’s Fancy Tag die and the new Whiff of Joy sentiments and fancy die. I will be working on a video for you all to show you how easy and fun it is to work with these new products! Look for it next week.

Here is a close up of sweet Tilda who was colored with my Copic Markers. Sorry I haven’t been listing the numbers but lately I have been coloring my images in batches. It is more time efficient for me. I am working on a list of my favorite color combos and hopefully I will get this posted soon for you.

I hope you can join in the Sketch Saturday Challenge this week! We are being sponsored by Digital Delights.

    Friday Sketchers # 124 & Spooktacular Wags

Happy Friday! Whew! This has been a week! I feel like I have been on the go all week long! Today I go for my fitness evaluation at the gym and the trainer will created a work-out for me.  I bet I will be sore later on today but you know the old saying “No pain, no gain” LOL!

My first card for today is for this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge. We are being hosted by the very sweet and super talented Aud this week.

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 218

I have used one of my very favorite Tilda images for this one. I was inspired by the gorgeous My Mind’s Eye paper that I picked up at Scrapbook Centrale which is an amazing store to visit if you love scrapbooking or card-making! If you live in or around Montreal you NEED to check it out.

    • Stamps: Magnolia 2010 Fairytale Collection
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: Bazzill Cardstock, MME Lost & Found Collection
    • Coloring: Copic Markers, Sakura Stardust glitter pen
    • Embellies: MME Lost & Found Brad, SU! Crochet ribbon
    • SU! Tag punches ~ small & medium

Be sure to check out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.

Aud, Bea, Claudia, Tanja, Jacque, Janneke, Inge

We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog. Our generous sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp.

    *****

My second card for today is for the Wags ‘n Whiskers challenge and this week it was my turn to pick the theme. I have challenged everyone to create a “Spooktacular” card with a Wags image. I have been wanting to try coloring an image in a monochromatic grey tone for a while now and I must say it really changes how an image looks!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 235

It was a whim to color her eyes green. Then I decided to add some pops of orange and then I added some green stickles and that led to some sponging with green ink but other than that…it is monochromatic! LOL!

The edge is made with the Martha Stewart drippy goo punch!

I am looking forward to seeing how you change your Wags stamps into something spooktacular. Check out our blog to see the fantastic interpretations by the rest of the Divas!

    High Hopes Challenge

Happy Wednesday! I am a little late posting my High Hopes Card for this week’s challenge! Life is busy. I thought that with the little one starting school, I would have loads of time on my hands but it just doesn’t seem that way at all!

Yesterday I joined a new fitness gym that has opened up near where I live. One thing that I have noticed since I started blogging is that I have gained some weight :( I don’t want to stop blogging but I need to do something before it gets out of control. YKWIM? Now that I have my days free I have committed to getting myself back to where I should be. In the mornings after I drop the boys off at school, I will go straight to the gym! I go on Friday for my assessment and then they will create my training schedule.  I’ll keep you posted! This is going to mean that I will be blogging more in the evenings as opposed to the mornings.

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 227

This week the challenge is to use “red and green”. I know that the first thought that comes to mind is Christmas but I am still getting things prepared for Halloween so that is my theme.

I made a little folded bag and added this sweet little ghost: Angel Bear Ghost.  So cute! The sentiment is also from High Hopes. I filled the bag with some yummy Lindor chocolates and these little goody bags will be for my kids and their school friends!

If you are in need of any High Hopes stamps, there are many retailers who carry HH stamps as well as the following Design Diva Stores:

Nikki Fairbairn - Bunny Zoe's Crafts based out of the UK/Europe
Lacey Stephens - Stamp and Create based out of the US
Amy Leggate - Paper Romance based out of Canada
Karen Goguen/Cathy Siroski - The Rubber Room based out of Canada
Amy Wegener - Stampin' Stuff based out of Australia

I hope you can join in our challenge this week. Last week we had so many fabulous entries ands of course there is always a wonderful prize of a stamp (sometimes more than one)!

    Have a great day!

    Stamp & Create Product Spotlight

This week the product spotlight over at Stamp & Create is the whimsical Wags 'n Whiskers "Wee Ones" and they will be on sale up to 40% off!!

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 222

I used the very sweet Bedtime Story Image for my card. The image is colored with copic markers that match the colors from Kaiser Crafts Hippy Girl collection. The scallop shape that runs along the side of the card is a die shape that is part of the paper pack. How cool is that? I also used American crafts mini brads and some gorgeous Prima flowers.

Wishing you a wonderful day and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Canadian Bloggers!

    Sketch Saturday # 124

Happy Sunday! I am here with my Sketch Saturday card. I used the new digital images from Motivet stamps.

    Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 220

Isn’t this background gorgeous? After coloring it up I added a ton of stickles to the snowy areas. I thought that these caroling kittens were perfect to add to the scene!

The paper is once again pieces from my scrap drawer. These ones were part of an  old Cosmo Cricket pad.

Motivet also has amazing digital personalized stamps! I forgot to photograph mine on the back of this card but here are a few samples:

    Aren’t these amazing?

Thanks for stopping by and heartfelt wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends! I have a lot of cooking prep to do today so that tomorrow I will have more time to spend with the family! Of course we will be having roasted turkey and stuffing with yummy mashed potatoes and gravy! I also will be serving a baked cauliflower dish, fresh corn and home-made dinner rolls. The rolls I will make today along with a pumpkin pie and an apple pie! Yummy!

Before I forget, Sketch Saturday is generously being hosted by:

I hope you will find the time to play along!
