High Hopes Sneak Peek Day 2

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a fine start! Yesterday I showed you a sneak peek of one of the soon to be released stamps from High Hopes Stamps. We have a wonderful new illustrator and she has created wonderful country primitive images for the seasons of Halloween and Christmas. Today I am showing you one of my favorites: Snow Angel with Banner.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 165

I knew from the start that I wanted to color this one in these warm country tones and I had some left over paper in my scrap drawer that was the perfect match. After coloring with my Copic Sketch markers I lightly sponged around the paper with Vintage photo distress ink and then stamped around the edges with a small flourish stamp. I pulled out this new ribbon that Lacey is stocking at Stamp & Create and used my bow-easy to create the perfect bow. BTW…this ribbon is to die for! It feels like taffeta and has just the right amount of stiffness to create a crisp bow yet is still luxurious to the touch. Okay….I know you are thinking it is only ribbon but honestly………it makes a BIG difference!

This amazing image and many other beauties will be available to purchase as of September 1st. You can see more sneak peekies if you visit the other HH divas!

Tomorrow we will be having a fabulous blog hop so I hope you will join in on the fun!

High Hopes Sneak Peek & Stamp & Create Product Spotlight

Happy Monday! I am so happy that I can finally start showing you some sneak peeks from the upcoming High Hopes release. We have a wonderful new artist on board: Laurie Furnell. Her illustrations are whimsical and have a real primitive country feel that I find so charming.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 168

My first sneak peek is off this amazing image called Witchy Poo & Cat. I love the fact that they are in this wood frame. There are a few other images with frames and I LOVE the look. I am sure you will be seeing a few of these on the other Diva’s blogs.

The image fit perfectly in my square nestie die and I just added some white dots with my gel pen to make it pop and match my yummy gingham ribbon! The paper is just a scrap piece from my drawer left over from last Halloween.

I have created a little treat box and as you can see when you untie the ribbon:

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 167

…..it opens up to show you a fun little verse and some yummy jelly beans. Mmmmmmm they are my secret weakness and I regret to inform you that quite a few never made it from the bag to the box! LOL!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 166

Here is a better angle for you to see the sentiment. Easy to color up with copics and so sweet.

I hope you enjoyed this little HH sneak peekie. As I said , the other Divas have more peeks on their blogs. The stamps will be available as of September 1st. I will show you another peek tomorrow.

The Stamp & Create product spotlight this week is Nestabilities. They will be 25% off just until this Friday so hurry up and nab them before someone else does. They are one of my favorite tools and so simple to use! As you can see in this project, they are the perfect way to give your card or project a professional and finished touch.

Before I leave you, I must extend my thanks to two super sweet and supportive ladies  Bets and Danielle who nominated me for this award:

Thank you so much my dear friends! It is always so heartwarming to know that others appreciate my work. When I get such encouragement it really motivates me!

There are little steps that you should follow when posting your award but my time is still scarce so I will simply give a grateful and heartfelt “thank-you” to these two ladies and ask that you might visit their delightful blogs!

Sailor Edwin ~ Sketch Saturday #118

Happy Saturday! As you read this, I am probably sweltering on a soccer field watching one of my boys in a play-off game! LOL! I am scheduling this post Friday night in anticipation of a very early and frantic morning! My eldest is volunteering at the luncheon stand, my hubby is the coach for both of the younger boys’ teams and me…….I am a Soccer mum. I get to do all the running around in between the fields!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 163

My card for this week’s Sketch Saturday features the very sweet if somewhat sad looking Edwin Sailor. Looks like he had to be rescued! Originally this was to be for my eldest son as he was going to sit his Blanche 3 levels in sailing. The theory was going to be a piece of cake for him but because he did two levels last year and is quite a skinny little guy it wasn’t likely that he could pass one part of the practical. He theoretically needed to be 75lbs in order to flip the size of sailboat that is for this level. Meaning he had to tip the boat, fall out, get back in and flip it back by himself. Soaking wet with bricks in his two pockets he doesn’t weigh 75lbs so I had made this card to hopefully cheer him up. Well, we didn’t count on his determination and perhaps a little help from a strong breeze………he did it! The instructors were so surprised but delighted for him and he had the biggest smile on his face when he told us his news! So this card is for sale over on Ebay! I don’t need it! LOL!

  • Stamps: Magnolia 2010 Summer Kit
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Whiff of Joy Sneak Peek #3 ~ Friday Sketchers Challenge

Happy Friday! I have another Whiff of Joy sneak peekie for you today! I am sure that you have seen peeks of most of the new stamps! Aren’t they wonderful? Remember they will be available starting September 1st!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 161

This is a new Alison Action character inspired by her own little guy Sam! Isn’t he sweet? I used the wonderful sketch from this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge that was created by my sweet friend Claudia! I am going to be the first to admit that I was extremely daunted by the shape and the layers but I really love the final result. It is good to push outside your own boundries. Thanks Claudia!

The card-base and matting are all down with Kraft cardstock (love the look) and the DP is all odds and ends from my scrap drawer! The white layer was embossed with one of my new SU! folders and then I paper-pierced around the edges. Little Sam was colored with Copic Sketch markers and then masked and lightly air-brushed!

Hope you enjoyed this sneak peek! My fellow DT are continuing the sneak peeks so get a cup of coffee and settle in for some inspiration!

Be sure to check also out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.  We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog . We are being sponsored this week with a voucher from Simon Says Stamp!

Special Delivery ~ Whiff of Joy Sneak Peek #2

Happy Thursday! I had some trouble with my posts! Seems like yesterday’s disappeared. I think everything is fixed! Today is the second day of the WoJ sneak peeks of the upcoming September 1st release! They really have put me in the Christmas mood! I was even singing Christmas carols as I was coloring and working on my cards. My kids thought I was crazy! LOL!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 160

I fell totally in love with this image! My boys adore anything to do with trains so I know that this stamp is going to get a lot of mileage. I have some ideas of some cute altered projects up my sleeve! But for now, I just had to turn this into a card! It is quite a large stamp so I stuck to a pretty basic card layout and let this adorable image take center-stage! I added so stickles to the head-lights as well along the bottom. I think it looks really sweet! I stamped this new sentiment right onto my stamped panel. I like that fresh clean look!

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Su Olive, Choclate Chip, SU! Retired Christmas DP

Whiff of Joy Sneak Peak #1

Today is the day that the WoJ Design Team can start showing sneak peeks of the upcoming September 1st release! You are going to love them! Katharina has out-done herself with this one. That is for sure! If you are a big fan of sweet Henry mouse then you will be delighted to know that he has a sweet little girlfriend: Betty! I thought I would start off my peeks using this lovely image:

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 153

Awwww! I absolutely love the expressions on both of their faces and this new sentiment was just perfect to add to my card! Look at the way their tales are curled together in the shape of a heart! LOVE IT!

Just Magnolia Challenge

Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a good start. I think slowly all the kids are heading off back to school! Which means that Summer is over :( It is always too short.  My kids  start the beginning of next week! I will miss them but on the up side, it will be quieter, I can record more video tutorials (next to impossible with my noisy crew here) and I will get back into my routine!

Today I have a card featuring one of the sweetiest Magnolia stamps in my collection. I can’t believe it took me so long to be able to ink her up!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 159

I used the sketch from this week’s Double Dutch challenge (slightly modified) and it also  fits the challenge for Just Magnolia which is “let’s get sentimental” ~ to add words to your card.

Heidi is having a sale at the moment at the Stamp Shoppe. With a deal like this, now is the time to get those little Magnolias that have been on your wish-list!

Stamp & Create Product Spotlight ~ High Hopes Challenge

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend :) Today I have two projects to show you! The first one is for the Stamp & Create Spotlight which for the second week is the High Hopes Dustin Pike images. I said it last week and I will say it again this week; they are quirky, humorous and cute and my go-to stamps when I have to make a card for a “boy” no matter what age!

Once again this week, Stamp & Create will be offering the Dustin Pike stamps at 25% off.  What a great time to add the couple that have been on your wish-list! Please check the challenge blog to see the other wonderful creations made by the other DT members. They are sure to bring a smile to your face!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 157

This week I used a stamp that I having been wanting to use for some time. This one is called “Birthday Fish” and for a change of pace, I colored him up with my Koh-i-noor pencils and OMS. Whenever I use Dustin Pike images I go with a clean and simple layout and today is no exception. Just to keep the card from being too plain, I added this sweet mini pom-pom ribbon in ivory! I added a little bit of stickles to the bubbles in the balloon. You can see it better in this photo.

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 156

*****

My second project is actually my creation for the High Hopes Challenge. I should have had it posted yesterday but my day got away from me! LOL! I think it is a good thing )blog-wise) that Summer is drawing to a close. I promise to be more dependable!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 158

The challenge was to make “anything but a card” and so I immediately thought that I could use this cutie “Little Reader” and make a bookmark for my middle son! He is onto his second book in the series of “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”.  He is enjoying reading and is laughing while he does so I am not going to complain.

The bookmark was easy-peasy to make. I just used my nesties to create the circles and and cut two of the red scalloped ones. I then used the score-pal tape to adhere the giant paperclip in between the two scallops. It will be sure to stay secure if you use score-pal tape!

The image took very little time to color and I added some glossy accents to the lenses in his glasses! The smile on my little guy’s face when I gave it to him made my day!

Happy Saturday! Do you have big plans for this week-end or are you just going to relax? We have a few small plans and I also hope to just relax a little at home too!

Today my card for Sketch Saturday features the cutest little mouse ~ It is Henry and he looks like he is totally relaxed! The sketch has more embellishment elements than I added to my card. It just looked too busy with this particular DP. Not to mention Henry’s shirt! LOL!

Wags ‘n Whiskers Blog Hop ~ Friday Sketchers

Happy Friday! This is it! the Wags ‘n Whiskers Blog Hop! If you have been following the hop, then you should have come here from our wonderful Tina’s blog. If not, why not start at the beginning ~here~ at the Wags Challenge Blog. 3 random Divas’ blogs will be drawing winners from their commenters so don’t forget to comment at each stop! You might just win some free stamps!

For my card, I have used the dazzlingly beautiful fairy Angelica! She was a pure joy to color. I have used the sketch that dear Bea has created for us for this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge blog. I did change it slightly by changing the circle for this decorative die-cut shape and foregoing the sentiment :) I hope you can join in this week. We have a wonderful sponsor this week: KLM Stamps. And my super-talented DT sisters have some gorgeous creations to inspire you: Aud, Bea, Carole, Claudia, Tanja, Jacque, Janneke, Inge

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 151

Instead of cutting an oval shape around my little fairy, I thought it would look sweet to cut her out and adhere her to the side with her wings and ribbon lying outside the border. I also used this gorgeous May Arts ribbon that I just received. OMGosh!  I just love the texture and feel of this ribbon! I am going to NEED a whole lot more of this! LOL!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 151

So, this lovely fairy Angelica and the other 3 equally sweet fairies will be available for purchase as of 7:00 am EST.

The next stop on our hop is: Mina!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Sneak Peek ~ Hannah~

Happy Thursday! Time is flying and I can sense the end of Summer approaching. Already it is getting darker earlier and there is a little bit of a chill in the air in the evenings! My cardmaking thoughts are leaving behind the sweet bright colors of summer and are starting to turn to autumnal themes and yes……..Christmas too! I have another sneak peek of the phenomenal new Wags ‘n Whiskers Fairy Release.

Introducing….. Hannah!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 149

What I love about this release is that these stamps can be used all year long for any occasion. I thought sweet impish Hannah would be perfect on a traditional red, white and green Christmas card. What do you think? I added different colored sparkles to her wings and to her bodice. I then pulled out the Fun Flock and added that to her collar and parts of her skirt.

I embossed white cardstock with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder and then cut it out with my oval nesties. The gorgeous paper is Kaiser Craft’s “Be Merry” and the sentiment is one of several gorgeous die-cuts that are included in the pack. The card was still a bit plain so I added the gingham ribbon and the felt snowflakes to finish it off. I am going to enter this card in the challenge which is to add some glitter.

  • Stamps: Wags ‘n Whiskers Fairy Release: Hannah ~available ~here~ as of Friday the 20th 7:00 am EST
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Black, White, Kaiser Craft “Be Merry” available ~here~
  • Coloring; Copic Markers, Stickles
  • Embellies: Papertrey Gingham ribbon, SU! Felt Snowflakes (these are from 2 years ago)

There are more sneak peeks by my fellow WnW divas…just check my side-bar for the list. Tomorrow we have a tremendous blog hop planned for you. It will start at 12:01 am EST and the stamps will go on sale as of 7:00 am. I have a sneaking suspicion they are going to go quickly!

You can win a full release set….just click ~here~ for the details!

Thanks for stopping by today! I wish you a happy, fulfilling and “inky” day!

Wags ‘n Whiskers Sneak Peek

Happy Wednesday! Already the middle of the week, time is sure flying. Yesterday, I had to take the boys for a dental check-up in Montreal. Since we were already there, we decided to spend the day downtown. We went to go see Toy Story 3 in 3D. It was my youngest son’s turn to choose and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Today I get to show you a sneak peek of the new and soon to be released Fairy Line from Wags ‘n Whiskers! OMGosh! They are really gorgeous!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 145

This gorgeous fairy is Nicola. Her face is so calm and serene and I just know that I will be using her over and over again!  I am already thinking of Christmas cards. I remember last year and how far behind I got and I DO NOT want to have a repeat of that this year. This also fits the challenge over at A Spoonful of Sugar!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 150

I decided to create an aperture card and have my fairy sitting along the front. My coloring choices came from the gorgeous Basic Grey paper from last Christmas. I created the snowflakes using Sizzix dies.

  • Stamps: Wags ‘n Whiskers Angelica ~will be available Friday 20th ~here~, SU! Sentiment Snow Swirled
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Black, Basic Grey Eskimo kisses
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Stickles
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon,SU! brad

My fantastic fellow divas have peeks on their blogs too. The list is on my side-bar! See you tomorrow with another sneak peek.

Stamp & Create Product Spotlight & Whiff of Joy Project

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend :) Today I have two projects to show you! The first one is for the Stamp & Create Spotlight which this week is the High Hopes Dustin Pike images. They are quirky, humorous and cute and my go-to stamps when I have to make a card for a “boy” no matter what age!

whiff of joy 2010 - page 143

I was drawn to this cute image called “ Stunt Dragon” maybe because my two older boys have been skateboarding a lot this summer :) I try not to watch. Really. I just don’t.

Now, has this ever happened to you? I thought that the dragon in this image had spots. In my mind there were spots. Well, I figured out why. The colorized image was colored with spots! So, I thought I would be inspired by that great idea and just add them myself. I colored the image and then went back to it with my colorless blender to add the spots.

The paper is Cosmo Cricket’s Joyride and was the inspiration for my color palette. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps and is a favorite of mine. I went with a simple layout and embellished with just the simple gingham ribbon. I love how it makes everything just pop!

For this week, Stamp & Create will be offering the Dustin Pike stamps at 25% off.  What a great time to add the couple that have been on your wish-list! Please check the challenge blog to see the other wonderful creations made by the other DT members. They are sure to bring a smile to your face!

*****

My friend Claudia has challenged myself and Jorunn to “decorate a jar”. She has created a tutorial and it will be posted at the Whiff of Joy Tutorial & Inspiration Blog today. Now I haven’t seen it and at first I was stumped. Then I remember something that I do at Christmas time. I fill pretty jars with the dry ingredients for cookies or muffins and then print out the recipe. Then the recipient can make something homemade by following the  recipe and adding the wet ingredients. I thought it would be fun to add the recipe to a very pretty tag and of course the first image that came to mind was Willow with Cookies! One of my all-time favorite WoJ images. I love her sweet face and flowing hair!whiff of joy 2010 - page 147

The tag was easily made with my SU! Top Note die. I cut out two in chocolate chip cardstock and two in Neenah cardstock. On these last two I trimmed away the small border at the perforations lines and then adhered them to the chocolate chip ones. Willow was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with copics. I sponged the sides with Chocolate Chip ink and stamped the decorative swirls that are also from Whiff of Joy. I punched a couple of holes on the tops of each little tag and threaded ribbon through.

whiff of joy 2010 - page 148

The recipe is on the other white tag. It is for Chocolate Chip Cookies…..and is no secret :) It is the exact one on the back of the Chipits package!

Thanks for stopping by. Please visit by friends Jorunn and Claudia to see how they have decorated their jar. Claudia will have a nice prize to offer as well!

One card and a notebook

Happy Sunday! Whew! We had a great fun-packed day yesterday! The Narnia exhibit was wonderful. I won’t spoil any surprises for you but it was delightful. We all had our favorite parts of the exhibit!

We also went to the outdoor market I was talking about. I had a few emails asking my which one. It was the Atwater Market :) We bought so much yummy goodness and came home and prepared a gourmet feast! Which reminds me, I bought some yummy raspberries and tiny blueberries to make some muffins……..I better do it quick before they disappear!

This week the theme for the High Hopes Challenge is WATER! I pulled out my HH stamps and found this cutie who had yet to see ink! Then I searched for a sentiment to go with him. HH had the BEST little sentiments and sure enough, I found this one! Now I have the perfect little card to send to cheer someone up!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 146

I went with a clean and simple layout but couldn’t resist adding the 4 little cross-stitches at the top. It just made that space a little less empty!

  • Stamps: High Hopes “ Finnigan”
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Kraft, White, Black,  DP Cosmo Cricket Joyride
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: DMC black floss

I also have a little post-it holder to show you! The ATS Wednesday challenge is “die-cuts” so I thought I would take the opportunity to create this little holder. I used one of the GORGEOUS Sweet November mermaids! I added a ton of little gemstones to her hair…. I couldn’t resist!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 001

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 144

These little holders are perfect for using up scraps of designer paper. You know….the little pieces that you can’t bear to throw away? I added a top cover of acetate to protect by cute image. You can see it folded back in the second picture.

  • Stamps: Sweet November Bubbles Lostlagoon available ~here~ at Stamp & Create

Celebrate ~ Sketch Saturday Challenge

Happy Saturday! Yippee! It is the week-end! What do you have planned for your-selves? My son has a small little do at the Nautical Center at 11am. He has passed another level in his sailing courses and will be getting his certificate! Then we are going into Montreal to see the Narnia Exhibit. I can’t wait. That series of books was my favorite when I was growing up and I have read the whole lot to my kids. In fact I am starting up again (round 2) with my last son. We loved the two movies that came out and I can’t wait for the next one! After that we plan to go to a wonderful outdoor market and buy yummy fresh produce! They have so much there and the kids love to visit too!

Today I have my card for this week’s Sketch Saturday to show you and I want to welcome the three new members to our team! All very talented ladies and a wonderful addition to our team! Please head over to see who they are AND droll over all the DT’s creations!

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 130

I used one of the Magnolia images from their 2010 Summer kit and paired it up with some of their yummy paper. The anchor charms have been in my stash for awhile so I can’t tell you where I got them. I was just happy that I had a pair of them! LOL! They are tied with some linen thread from SU! The sentiment is from a Paptertrey set: Out on a Limb.

I hope you can join in the Sketch Saturday challenge this week. As you can see, the sketch is fabulous and so is our wonderful regular sponsor this week:

Thanks again for stopping by! Have a great day!
