Thank-You ~ Friday Sketchers Challenge #54

Friday Sketchers Week #54

Hi Everyone! It is Friday and that means I have my card from this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge to show you. It is a sketch by sweet Jacqueline this week! Now don’t be alarmed by the shape of my card, if you go over to FS and see the other DT cards, you will see all kinds of different ways to interpret the sketch ;) Our wonderful sponsor this week is Crafts4Eternity. They are generously offering a wonderful prize.

I used one of my shapes from my Creative Memories cutting system to create my card’s shape. Although it is slightly different from the sketch shape, I really wanted to use it so that I could quickly create the different matting layers.

The image is from Magnolia’s Chasing Butterflies collection and I am soooo in love with it. I took my color hues from my beautiful Bella Bleu paper. I am going to have to get another package of this. I added a lot of different things to this card but I kept everything to the same 2 colors so I think it doesn’t look too fussy. What do you think?

  • Stamps: Magnolia Chasing Butterflies Collection, SU sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Sahara Sand, Navy, Bella Bleu DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Hero Arts Pearls, Prima Flowers, SU Brads
  • Tools: CM Cutting System, Oval Nesties, EK Success Punch, Martha Stewart Punch, Crop-a-dile, SU Word Window Punch

Hope you will find time to join in this week’s challenge! I love looking at all your gorgeous cards! Don’t forget to stop by the FS blog to see the beautiful creations of  the rest of the team! They are stunning once again!

Whiff of Joy ~ SOA Post-It Holder

Whiff Of Joy - Page 089

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by today! This is the post-it holder that I made for the Whiff of Joy challenge over at the Stampin’ Out Alzheimer’s event.  If you haven’t already joined up, it is not too late. Katharina is offering a summer kit stamp to the lucky winner of our challenge and there are lots of other challenges there as well. One of my other DT companies, Sweet ‘n Sassy is offering a free digital set. You can see the card that I created with that set here.

To create my holder, I cut two pieces of cardboard and four pieces of designer paper to 3.5” x 3.5”. I glued the DP to each side of the cardboard pieces and then used my bind-it-all to cut the notches and add the wire. I just adhered the backing paper of the post-it to the inside back cover and the holder is done. I forgot to take a picture of what it looks like inside but you can see another one that I have made here.

Little Oakley was colored with copic markers and I just wrote directly onto his little wooden panel with a fine sharpie pen. The squares were made using my nestabilities. It is a quick little project and makes a nice little gift!

That is it for today. I have to finish up my cards for Friday Sketchers and Sketch Saturday and get organized for the coming week.  Just also want to remind you that it is Sketch Saturday’s birthday bash and we are organizing something special for all of our lovely crafters who support us!

Sweet ’n Sassy Blog Hop ~ Day 1 ~ Stop #2

Blog Hop Owl - Page 079

Hi Everyone! Yes, it is already time for the Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog Hop! The hop started this morning at the SNSS blog and I am the second stop of the day!

For my card, I chose one of my all time favorite SNSS images: Owl Occasions. It is actually one of the first stamp sets (other than SU) that I purchased a year ago when I started stamping! It remains one of my favorites because it is so versatile. It is pretty hard to resist these big innocent eyes!

I used the sketch from The Sweet Stop Challenge for this card. I colored Olivia Owl with my copics and if you look at her tummy, you will see that I tried to make it look “fluffy”. To achieve this effect, after you have colored the image, take your colorless blender pen and make tiny little strokes over the area. It will “lift” the color out of these parts. Be careful not to get too carried away or you will end up removing too much color.

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Tempting Turquoise, My Mind’s Eye DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Ribbon from stash, Hero Arts adhesive pearls

Thanks for stopping by and your next stop for the hop is Sarah! Hop on over to see her sweet creation!

Sweet Friend ~ Stamp with Fun

Whiff Of Joy - Page 091

This week’s Stamp with Fun challenge is a sketch by the very talented Nikki a.ka. Bunny Zoe’s Blog. I couldn’t resist such a fun sketch and I decided to use this sweet stamp from the WOJ Summer Collection. I hadn’t had a chance to ink her up yet! I love her bare little toes and thought she would look perfect sitting on this little dock. I added another little swirl in the water below her feet and airbrushed the background. I also added a little sparkle to the swirls with an Atyou Spica Pen. The sentiment is also from the summer collection and I airbrushed that as well to match the image background. I am loving my new Label Nesities as you can see!

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Summer Collection, Magnolia Dock
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Green Tea DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers and Airbrushing
  • Embellies: Flower from Stash, May Arts Ribbon, Leaves made with SU die

Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by!

Whimsy Sneak Peek

Whimsy Cards - Page 040

Happy Monday Everyone! We had fantastic weather so we were all outdoors most of the weekend! Today I am so excited to be able to show you a sneak peek of one of Whimsy Stamp’s new June Release. This stamp is called Princess Emma and she is so much fun to color! I pulled out some of my Papertrey Plum cardstock and designer paper and then colored in Emma’s dress with my copics to match. I sponged around the edges of the oval with matching ink and then used some of my WOJ swirls around the edges too. I went over the swirls with a glitter pen but it is not showing that well in the photo. Trust me, IRL it is very shimmery.

The rest of the Whimsy DT will be sharing other sneak peeks all this week. All their links are in my side-bar. You don’t want to miss out!

Whimsy Cards - Page 039

I have another Whimsy card to show you. This is Baseball Connor and he is from a previous release. I created this card using the Papertake Weekly Sketch and the Cute Card Thursday challenge which was sports. I have colored the image with Prismacolors and OMS for a little change of pace from the Copics. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Sketch Saturday # 52

Sketch Saturday Week #52

Hi Everyone! Today I am showing you my card for this week’s Sketch Saturday Challenge. Our sponsor this week is Victoria Case Art Design and she is offering a wonderful prize.

I had a blast working on this sketch. I used these stamps that I had received as part of the Magnolia Spring Kit and just never had the time to ink up. I have a chart that I printed on Neenah Solar crest and I have all the copic marker numbers and each one has a little box that I have colored with the appropriate marker. It is like a color swatch and to choose my colors, I just match what is already on my DP! If you love the color combo on your DP, you’ll love it on your image as well!

  • Stamp: Magnolia Butterfly Collection
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Tempting Turquoise, PaperTrey Aqua, MME DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Copic Airbrushing
  • Embellies: SU Button, Misc ribbon from stash

Here is Jo’s wonderful sketch. I hope you find the time this week to play along. We love to see all your creations and you inspire US!  Special thanks to Janneke who has been our guest DT for the last two weeks and shared her stunning creations with us. Please visit the SS blog to see all the cards that the DT have created!

Next week is our Anniversary Celebration and we have some special things planned to thank all of you lovely crafters who support us!  I can’t wait to share them with all of you!

I also want to mention that my friend Anki is celebrating with an amazing blog candy. Stop by her fantastic blog to see all the details.

Friday Sketchers Challenge #53

Fridays Sketchers Week #53

Hi Everyone! Here is my card for this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge. The sketch was created by the very talented and very sweet Heidi.  Isn’t it great?

Of course, I just had to use one of my new stamps from the Whiff of Joy Summer Collection! By now, you must know my MO….colored with copics, masked and then airbrushed! I also airbrushed the flowers and for the centers I added some flower soft. I just received some this week and it is a lot of fun. I was a little scared to use it on the image because I really didn’t want to muck it up, but it is pretty easy to use. The flower in Willow’s hair as well as her little bouquet are covered in flower soft.

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Summer Collection  (available May 24th as individual stamps)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Kraft, Sahara Sand, Basic Grey Porcelain
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Flower Soft, Flowers from SU Pretties Kit, Leaves made with Martha Stewart punch

Thanks for stopping by and head on over to the FS blog to see what the other DT girls have made. WOW! They are super talented…..I still can’t believe that they asked me to join them! Also, last week, I forgot to announce that the GDT for the next 3 months is Tanya from Stampin’ Piper! She is so gifted and one of loveliest girls in blog-land. What a treat to be working with her!

Have a super day everyone. We are having the most delicious weather. I hope you are too!

Whiff of Joy ~ Gate Fold Card

Whiff Of Joy - Page 085 Hi Everyone!

I have another Whiff of Joy card to show you! I think most people have received their stamps now! Are you all having as much fun as I am? There is so much detail on these stamps and all that yummy fruit!

I have made a Gate Fold card this time. You can find the instructions here. I have modified it slightly to create a 6x6 card. All coloring is done with copic markers and I have airbrushed the background. I LOVE my airbrush system as I am sure you can tell!

Here is the inside of the card. I have used one of the sentiments and the larger strawberry.

The Sweet Stop Week #4

Image removed for publication

Today it is once more time to show you my card for this week’s Sweet Stop Challenge. What a fantastic sketch this is and the theme is to create a masculine card. Typically this is harder for me: No flowers or bling, Oh My!

There is a really fun prize to be won! Korin will be generously giving this stamp set to one of the lucky participants:

I decided to use the new Sweet ‘n Sassy Sea Turtle Digi Stamp. I feel in love with this little guy the moment I saw him and after seeing this card that my fellow DT sister Chris created, I was inspired! I get a lot of questions pertaining to smearing when printing digi stamps and then coloring them with copics. What I do is I just go over the printed image with my heat embossing tool for about 20 seconds or so and then I have no bleeding or smearing at all.

The leaf that you see on my card is actually a fossilized leaf that came in a little package. I picked it up a few years ago at a little shop called "Dix Mille Villages" which means Ten Thousand Villages. All the goods are fair trade and are made by artisans (mainly woman) that are paid fair wages for their creations. This was made in the Philippines and they take fresh leaves and soak them for weeks and then brush, clean, dye them and then they are dried. I had no real purpose for them but I found the leaves so beautiful and felt that it was money going to a good cause, so I bought them. I finally was able to use one to add a special little touch to this card.

My middle son loves it so much (he adores nature) and has asked if he might give it to his Daddy for Father's Day! That is the ultimate compliment for me!

My fellow DT sisters have all outdone themselves this week. Go take a look over at The Sweet Stop! I also want to let you know that Sweet ‘n Sassy is having a design team call to replace the Jr Team as our term is over. Wow! It sure went by quickly. If you think you might be interested, please read more here.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you to all who commiserated with me over the BROKEN TOE! It hurts like the dickens BUT I am relieved that I can still walk around outside if I wear my big ugly Crocs and I can still drive. So, really it won’t disrupt our lives too much and I might take your suggestions and tell my husband that all I can bear to do is sit in my craft room! LOL!

Friend ~ A Whiff of Joy Challenge

Whiff Of Joy - Page 082 (1)

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was Victoria Day in Canada which is a holiday. It was sunny but pretty cold and I was determined to finish washing the rest of the windows in the house. My hubbie was working in the backyard and the kids were running around trying to be helpful. Now many of you don’t know that I am a klutz. So long story short, I stumbled on the bottom step, smashed my foot and BROKE MY LITTLE TOE! Who knew that it could hurt so much? So there is nothing that can be done except to wait for it to heal and admire the lovely shades of purple bruises! And no, the kids weren’t even around…..I stumbled all by myself…at least I had finished all the windows!

I have another of the new WOJ Summer Kit images to show you today. Once again, Elisabeth Bell has captured such a sweet expression! Don’t worry if you didn’t get the kit. They will be available as individual stamps starting May 24th. I made this card for the Whiff of Joy challenge. The theme this week is Friendship.

I made a different kind of card today. This style of card I saw on my friend Claudia’s blog a long time ago. You can find her tutorial on how to do it here.

IMG_8576 (1)

As you can see, you can pull out the sentiment part of the card. I have used a SU sentiment and stamped it in Baja breeze ink. I then airbrushed the center with E51 and around the edges with BG75 which is a pretty close match to the ink.

IMG_8577 (1)

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Summer Kit , Swirls Collection, SU All Holidays for sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Baja Breeze
  • Paper: SU Baja Breeze, Parisien Breeze
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: May Arts Sheer ribbon, SU Button, K&CO lace adhesive ribbon

Hope you enjoy your day everyone! I have to dig out my pair of crocs as it is too painful to wear shoes!

Sunshine

Whiff Of Joy - Page 080

Hi Everyone. I have another WOJ card to show you today! I am loving this whole kit. The images are all so sweet and every single one of them has a lovely expressive face. This sweet girl that I have used today seems to be enjoying the feel of warm sunshine on her face. I was inspired to use bright and happy colors to color her! After coloring her, I masked and then airbrushed the background and used a warm yellow and then a rose color around the edges.

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Summer Kit
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Wild Wasabi, Papertrey Berry, DP Making Memories Flower Patch
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: PaperTrey Ribbon, Roses from Dollarama

I also want to tell you about

SOA - Stampin' Out Alzheimers

Papercraft Planet is hosting a charitable event called SOA (Stampin out Alzheimers) to raise money to fight this horrible disease. This huge event will take place from May 25th - June 1st.

Here is what Susanna says about SOA:
"I, along with a group of generous sponsors and challenge hostesses, have teamed up to create a temporary online community where members can take part in a variety of challenges, contests, classes and workshops, and download several free products (a special digital kit, a printable 3-d template, tutorials, etc) in different papercrafting categories (stamping, cardmaking, paperscrapbooking, digi scrapping, hybrid, etc). All this for a suggested donation of $5. 100% of these funds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association to help with their efforts to provide and enhance care and support for all those affected by this heartbreaking disease."

Whiff of Joy will also sponsor this wonderful event and our event coordinator Jacqui will host a challenge with the chance to win a great prize.
Please visit Papercraft planet for further information. I will participate and I am looking forward to see you there!

Hope you enjoy your day and get the chance to have a little sunshine to warm your face!

The new Whiff of Joy Summer Stamp Kits are landing on doormats all around the world and now the DT are able to share their cards with you. If yours haven’t arrived yet, they soon will! The stamps are ALL wonderful and the kit also includes sentiments, and accessory stamps. Don’t be sad if you didn’t preorder the kit. The stamps will be coming out for individual purchase.

I used the sketch SC228 on Splitcoasters for this card. I just received my new Nesties and I couldn’t wait to try them out. This one is Labels 4 and the orange tree and this lovely sentiment are a perfect fit. Don’t you love when that happens?

I thought these two images would go together well and I tried to create a Victorian feel to my card!

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Summer Kit
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Sage Shadow, Kraft, DP from Imaginisce
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Satin ribbon from local sewing supply store, leaves made with SU Sizzix die

Thank you to everyone who wished my son well with the Feis today. There were 700 competitors and 30 in his category. He placed extremely well in all his categories and won two 3rd place medals! We were very proud of him and it was quite an experience. There were dancers from all over Canada and the States. For those who asked why Celtic Dancing….well I am half Irish! The other half is Scottish and my parents immigrated here from the UK before I was born!

Swimtastic ~ Sketch Saturday #51

Sketch Saturday Week #51 - Page 103

Good Saturday to you! This week we have a fabulous sketch and a fabulous sponsor! All That Scraps is one of my favorite companies and they have the cutest stamps sets and amazing paper and embellies for your every crafty desire!

This cute little guy that I have used on my card is one that I bought from ATS last year. I colored him with copics and masked him so that I could airbrush the background. I then covered the “wave” with Glossy Accents to make it shine and I used some clear gemstones to give the impression of water drops!

  • Stamps: All That Scraps Summertime Fun Image & Sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Tempting Turquoise, Pumkin Pie, DP is from stash…I don’t know the name
  • Coloring: Copic markers

Sweet ‘n Sassy May Round Up

May Round Up

This is my second post for today! My card for the Friday Sketcher’s Challenge is one post below! Right now I am showing you what I made for the Sweet ‘n Sassy May Round Up. This month we are all showcasing Summer Sets. It is just around the corner…and SNSS is offering some pretty nice deals on these fun sets.

For this month's Round Up, I wanted to showcase the Holiday Road stamp set. Family Road-trips can be long and my Mum & Dad always tried to have little activities for my sister and I so that we wouldn't be too bored (or too annoying!) Rie, if you are reading this….do you remember “THE LINE” that we had that divided the backseat into my place and yours! LOL! I try to do the same with my children and am always trying to think of new activities that will make the trip fun.

I made a little paper back-pack from a tutorial I found on here on Split-coasters and decorated it with some of the Holiday Road stamps. Then I created little cards that I can slip inside using more the of stamps. On the flip side, I will write some text that will pertain to our next road trip. Things like important landmarks to look out for, where we are heading to and planned activities....you get the gist! So the kids can take turns opening their own little back-packs and read to us. And just to cover all bases, I think I will slip some candies in there as well!

  • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Holiday Road
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Only Orange
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Stickles, Liquid Applique on the mountain tops
  • Embellies: SU Ribbon, Making Memories Brads & Magnets

My fellow Sassy Sisters have all created some pretty amazing cards and projects so hop on over to the SNSS blog for a little Summer Inspiration.

The current DT term is almost over. The months have just whizzed by and now it is almost time for the Junior Team to leave. Korin is holding a Design Team Call for the next 6 month term which will start July 1st. I can only add that Korin is a lovely, warm person whose extreme kindness and support make serving on her team a tremendous pleasure. If you are interested in applying for a DT position please go here for the specifics!

Have a good day everyone! I thank you for persevering through another long posting! I have so much to tell you all!

Friday Sketchers #52

Week #52 - Whiff of Joy

Hi Everyone! Wow, what a tremendous response there was to last Friday Sketchers Challenge. You all certainly showed your love for this tremendous challenge and it was a treat to go and visit your blogs. Thank you to all who so warmly welcomed me on board for my first week. I really appreciated it as I am still awestruck that I am part of this wonderful team! Makes me a little less nervous when I have such support!

Please visit the FS blog to see who who the prize for the challenge and to see if maybe you were lucky enough to win one of the gorgeous DT RAKs.

My RAK was won by Tonya of Olde Country Creations. Please contact me Tonya with your mailing address so I can get your package out to you!

This week, the sketch was created by wonderful Claudia. She is so gifted and guess what? She is such a lovely person too! I used my favorite stamp from Whiff of Joy’s Spring Kit. Isn’t she coy? I love her expression. She is now on sale at WOJ. She was colored with Copic Markers, masked and then the background was airbrushed with my copic system, I added little pearls and gems on her bracelet and pants. I also airbrushed the flowers that I used. They are the ones that you get in the SU Hodge Podge kit. With the airbrusher, it is so easy to have flowers that perfectly match your image coloring.

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Spring 2009 Collection
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Basic Grey Porcelain
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Flowers and large pearls – SU Hodge Podge, Small Pearls and Gems – Hero Arts, May Arts Ribbon

Friends

Whimsy Cards - Page 038

I am running a little behind with my post today! Yesterday my hubbie surprised me by taking me out for lunch! It was amazing. We went to an Italian Restaurant and ate a leisurely and very delicious meal together! We adore our children but it is pretty difficult to have “normal” conversation when they are around! So yesterday was just heaven!

My card today is for the “A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge” which is “buttons galore”. Well I am not sure this constitutes “galore” but this is my entry. I have used my favorite Whimsy Kids Stamps “Emma with Umbrella” and I went for a vintage feel. I colored her with distress inks. Would you believe that I only used four different inks? It is true. I used Tattered Rose, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Brushed Corduroy. I find it very relaxing to water color. It takes a lot longer than Copic coloring but that is part of the fun! I tried to keep the card simple. The white cardstock was run through the cuttlebug with my swiss dots folder.

  • Stamps: Whimsy Kids Collection, SU Best Yet Sentiment
  • Ink: Stazon Jet Black
  • Paper: SU: Sahara Sand, Whisper White
  • Coloring: Distress Inks
  • Embellies: SU Buttons, Twine, Ribbon from local sewing supply store
  • Tools: Nestabilities Scallop Circles, SU Ticket Corner Punch, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by. Tomorrow I will have my card for the Fridays Sketchers Challenge to show you!

This card is available to purchase. Please contact me if you are interested!

The Sweet Stop Challenge #3

Sweet N Sassy - Page 076

Good Morning Everyone! Are you a sunflower lover? I know that I am! They always remind me of my youngest son’s birth. A lovely friend came to visit with a huge bundle of sunflowers and she was so delighted to welcome my little one into the world. I always feel so joyful when I see a sunflower!

This is the card I made for The Sweet Stop’s third challenge. Isn’t this a fabulous sketch? I used the flower from the “Bee Happy” set and I stamped it and masked it so that instead of one flower, I have a bouquet of three. I colored them with my copic markers and I also airbrushed the background with a light yellow and used my Nesties to cut it out. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder and then lightly sponged so that the details are a little more prominent.

My fellow DT have some fantastic cards to show you as well. You can see them at The Sweet Stop Challenge blog and I hope you get the chance to play along with us!

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by.

Once Upon A Time

Whiff Of Joy - Page 077

Today I have a card to show you that I made last weekend and haven’t had the chance to post on my blog yet! It features two of WOJ’s Medevial stamps that I thought would look great paired up! I really think this Rogue Charlotte stamp is wonderful! I colored the images with Prismacolors and OMS and cut them each out. Charlotte actually has an arrow in her right hand, but I cut that out and instead attached a piece of twine to her hand and connected down to the horse’s bridle. I also used the same twine for the string on her bow. You can see this better in this picture:

This is actually not a card….it is quite large because I wanted to keep the gorgeous wording and border on the paper. Instead, I have this sitting on a little mini easel in my craft room.

  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU River Rock, Black, Sahara Sand, DP is from DCWV Once Upon a Time Collection

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day and I am hoping that the postie brings me my WOJ DT package so I can start playing with the new Summer Kit! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
