Friday Sketchers #63 ~ My Week to Host

Friday Sketchers Week #63

Happy Friday Everyone! This week it is my turn to host the Friday Sketchers Challenge. I prepared a really simple sketch, there is a fab prize from Simon Says Stamp and I hope you will get the chance to give it a go!

I have used another of the new Whiff of Joy Party Animal stamps. This one is called Fred Celebrating Elephant and I think he is just too cute! I really love elephants so this stamp was a joy to color. I used Copics to color the elephant in and then I took an old piece of terry-cloth with some blender solution on it and just dabbed at the image. You can see how it created that very fun textured look. I then added some Twinkling H20s to the elephant and the background. I just love the effect that it gives.

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Alison Acton Animal Stamps
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Soft Sky, Green Tea DP (both retired)
  • Coloring: Copic markers, Twinkling H20s
  • Embellies: SU Felt Flowers & Ribbon, Craft Secrets Adhesive Gems & Pearls

    Here is my sketch:

Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog Hop Day 1

It is the first day of the Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog Hop! If you didn’t arrive here from Belinda’s blog, then head on over to the SNSS blog and start the hop from the beginning!

Our theme for the hop is “Wild Things”. I have used the very sweet set “Baby Blessings” to create a new baby card. For a change of pace, I water-colored my images. It gives such a soft effect and I thought it would suit the card. I did use my air-brush system to color the sentiment.

Here is the front:Sweet N Sassy - Page 100 and here is the inside:

    Sweet N Sassy - Page 101

I also have my card for this week’s Sweet Stop to show you. The set I have used for this card is “Penguin Hugs”. Once again I water-colored the image.

    Sweet N Sassy - Page 102

Sweet ‘n Sassy is having a huge sale at the moment and there is still time to take advantage of the Christmas in July sale on stamps!

Now the next stop on the hop is Lisa! Have fun hopping!

    Whiff of Joy Blog Hop

Welcome to the Anniversary Blog Hop sponsored by Whiff of Joy Stamps! If you've just happened upon my blog, you can CLICK HERE to start from the beginning at Katharina's Blog.

Whiff Of Joy - Page 119Here is my card using the brand new Whiff of Joy stamps illustrated by the very talented Alison Acton. It has been hard to keep these under-wraps! I decided to create a step-fold card so that I could show-case more than one of these little cuties! The tutorial can be found here.

I actually made this card for my youngest son who turns 4 tomorrow. Talk about perfect timing. He loves animals and can imitate most of their sounds quite well! I know he will love this happy and colorful card. He is so funny. If you ask him how old he will be turning, he says 8 (that is how old my middle son is) and if you ask him what he wants for his birthday…….well it is CAKE! Not just any cake mind you, he wants an ice-cream cake!

Whiff Of Joy - Page 118

    Friday Sketchers Week #62

    Friday Sketchers - Page 017

Happy Friday Everyone! Hope you have all had a great week and I hope your weekend will be fun and relaxing! Here is my card for this week’s Friday Sketchers. This week it is the wonderful & sweet Jacque who is hosting the challenge and who has designed a wonderful sketch for us all to use. We have a fantastic prize being offered by Shimmerz! This stuff is fantastic, easy to use and adds a bit of glamour to any project!

For my card, I decided to pull out my Prisma pencils & OMS to color in my image. It takes more time than using my Copics but I like the delicate and soft look. I also was afraid that I’d lose my touch with them since I am using my Copics most of the time. I used my new Spellbinder’s Fleur de Lis pendant die. I air-brushed the bottom pendant to soften the look a little. I adhered my pendants with dimensional tape. It really changes the look quite dramatically than if you just adhere them flat to each other.

    • Stamps: Whiff of Joy: Guardian Angel Spring 2009 Collection
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: Papertrey Plum Pudding, SU Whisper White
    • Coloring: Prismacolors & OMS, Twinkling H20s
    • Embellies: Papertrey Plum ribbon, K&Co Adhesive Gems

For inspiration, check out my fellow DT’s creations at the Friday Sketchers Challenge and I hope that you get the chance to enter! We love seeing your gorgeous creations!

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the Whiff of Joy blog hop. You can find all the information in the link in my side-bar. Hope to see you at the chat forum!

    The Sweet Stop #13

    Sweet N Sassy - Page 099_0001

Hi Everyone! Had a bit of a late start to my day. I actually slept past 8:00 am this morning! Felt great but then it was a mad rush to get my son’s lunch ready and get him over to Sailing Camp!

Today I have my card for this week’s Sweet Stop to show you. This week there is a spin (Christmas) and a prize! I also wanted to let you know that Sweet ‘n Sassy is having a Christmas in July Sale. You can save 15% on Christmas stamps plus get some free digital ones. All the details can be found here.

For my card today, I paired up the Owl Occasions set with the Christmas Owl Add-ons set. I colored the images with my Copic Markers and added a little fun flock to the hat brim. The papers are from my scrap drawer and I believe they are Basic Grey.

That’s it for me. I have a lot to get done today and I am running way behind! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

    Water Baby Edwin

Magnolias - Page 061Hi Everyone! This is a card that I made for my oldest son. This Summer he asked if he could be enrolled in the Summer Nautical Camp so that he could learn to sail. He loves the water. I always call him my “water-baby”. He is just loving it. We drop him off at 9:30 am and he finishes at 4:30 pm. I miss him (so do his brothers) the days that he is gone but he is so excited and happy that it is worth it. So when I saw this Edwin with the wetsuit and little board, I thought I could create a little “scene” card for my son. In all, I have used 4 stamps. The fence and Edwin are from this years Summer Kit and the reeds and cloud are from last year’s collections. The cloud stamp also has a bench and flowers but I just didn’t ink that portion of the stamp. So I did a lot of masking and coloring but I am really happy with the way that it turned out. I am entering this card in the Magnolia-licious challenge which is to create a card using Edwin.

Here is a better shot to see the shimmer from the Atyou Spica pens that I used:

    Magnolias - Page 060
    • Stamps: Magnolia Summer 2008 & 2009 Collections
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi
    • Coloring: Copic Markers & Airbrushing, Atyou Spica Glitter Pens
    • Embellies: SU Hemp Twine

I can’t wait to give this to him! It was so much fun creating it for him.

Hope you have a great day and thank you for stopping by!

    Showers of Blessings

    swSweet N Sassy - Page 098

Good-morning Everyone! I wanted to show you this card that I made using the new digi image from Sweet ‘n Sassy. I feel in love with it this image when I saw it and I thought it would be perfect for paper piecing. I printed the image out 4 times and colored them, cut the various parts out and layered them. The bottom layer I cut with an oval nestie die and airbrushed it with B00 & BG000. You can see the layers a little better in these shots:

I received my new Spellbinders pendant dies on Friday and of course, they didn’t stay in the packaging very long! They are gorgeous and I am going to be playing with them a lot. I layered theses as well, using foam dimensionals to create different heights. I am entering this card for the Stamp with Fun challenge which is to use shapes or punches.

    • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy: Digi-Image Showers of Blessings
    • Ink: Printer Inkjet
    • Paper: SU Baja Breeze, Retired DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers, Twinkling H20s
    • Embellies: SU Ribbon

Have a wonderful day. We are going out again for another BBQ – this time at my sister’s house. It looks like the weather will be perfect and my kids are already bugging me to know when they are going to see their cousins!

    Friday Sketchers #60

    Friday Sketchers Week #60

Happy Friday! This week Friday Sketchers is being hosted by my sweet friend Heidi. She has created a really wonderful sketch for us all to follow.  We are being sponsored by Motivet Stamps. They have the most adorable little animal characters! I really hope you can join us this week.

When I first say this sweet new Tilda and birdcage from the new Pet Collection, I immediately thought of this paper from the Basic Grey Porcelain pad. What a perfect match! I went all pink today and I love the girly-girly look of this card. The frame is from a collection last year. My friend Claudia used it a while back on a card and I just loved it and “had” to buy it! I think I will use it often as it is such a nice little frame for Tilda! I colored the edges of the frame as well as the wires of the bird-cage with my Sakura star dust pen. I took a picture from a different angle so you can see the shimmer better.

    Friday Sketchers Week #60close

    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: Papertrey & Basic Grey Porcelain

I have been having issues with it not working so if it doesn’t post I will manually post it when we get back. Have a great week-end!
