Side- Step Stair Card + Video

Happy Thursday! Today I have the final video and project that I created for the March Whimsy Card kit. Whenever I want to showcase a bunch of images at the same time, I think about stair-step cards. They are fun, easy and have a “wow” factor. They also fold flat for easy mailing!

Here is the side step card that I created. I love the bright and busy patterned paper combined with the sweet images from the rubber stamp set.

This type of card style can be used for all types of cards. I love to use this style when creating birthday cards! You will find all the measurements and instructions written out for you at the end of the post and you can follow along with the video!

Side-Step Stair Card:

1.      Cut a piece of white cardstock to measure 5.5” x 8.5”.

2.      Position in your paper cutter with the 5.5” side horizontal and the 8.5” side vertical.

3.      Using horizontal ruler on cutter, line the left side of paper up at the 2.5” mark.

4.      Using the vertical ruler on cutter, make a cut from the 2” mark at top down to the 7.5” mark on bottom.

5.      Place on score board with 8.5” side running along the top.

6.      On portion that measures 2.5” from the cut, score at 1”, 2”, 3.25”, 4.5” and 6.5”

7.      On portion that measures 3” from the cut, score at 4.25”

8.      Fold at the score lines, using mountain valley folding for the portion with multiple score lines.

9.      Create mats with contrasting cardstock: 2.75” x 4”, 1” x 2.25”, 1.75” x 2.25”, .75” x 5.25”.

10.    Create mats with patterned paper: 2.5” x 3.75”, .75” x 2”, 1.5” x 2”, 0.5” x 5.0”
