Just Magnolia Challenge ~ Ribbons & Bows

Magnolias Christmas 2009 - Page 063

Hi Everyone! Boy, what a wet and windy weekend we are having here! You should have seen me on the soccer fields all bundled up in my layers of polar fleece and rain gear! Certainly not optimal weather for playing or watching soccer! Within about 30 seconds of being on the field all the kids were just covered in mud! We had exciting matches and won our games so tomorrow we are playing for the medals. My eldest scored the winning goal in his first match so basically, I have no voice because I was screaming so loud “WHOO HOO!”

Enough of my soccer ramblings! Here is a card I made a few weeks ago.  I had bought the trees and sled stamps a little while ago because I thought they would be great for a little Tilda Scene. I airbrushed the sky with my Copic system. Then I colored in and added Liquid Appliqué to the trees and I just love the effect it gave. The snow is covered in glitter and it just sparkles! Because the scene is quite big, the rest of the card is very simple and I just added some ribbon to it. I haven’t had the chance to post it until now and it fits in perfectly with this week’s Just Magnolia challenge which is to use ribbons and bows! This is one of my favorite challenges but I don’t always get the chance to play along! I am happy this fit the bill!

  • Stamps: Magnolia from last year’s Christmas and winter collection
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Bazzill Bling, SU Black & Blue Bayou
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: May Arts Ribbon

Have a great evening! Thanks for stopping by and for all you lovely comments. They brighten up my day!

Celebrate the Everyday ~ Friday Sketchers # 67

Friday Sketchers Week #67

Happy Friday Everyone! Here is my card for this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge. This week, it is the wonderful Claudia’s turn to host. She has created a really fun sketch for us all to play with and our sponsor this week is Verve Stamps! They have simply gorgeous sentiment stamps and I have a few although not as many as I want! LOL! So one of our lucky participants will receive a gift certificate from Verve!

I have had such a busy week getting everything organized for the boys’ return to school as well as DT commitments. So, for this card, I pulled out an image that I had already colored a few weeks ago. You know sometimes you are just in the mood to color and so it can be a life-saver when you don’t have too much time! I simply masked and airbrushed the background to match my DP. This is one of my all-time favorite WOJ images but it has some tough competition from the new Fall Release (which are now available to purchase individually at the WOJ online store).

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Guardian Angel Collection 2008, General Sayings Sentiment
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Sahara Sand, MME Laundry Line
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Copic Coloring
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon, Bling Craft Secrets

Have a fantastic week-end! As always, I encourage you to check out the amazing creations from the rest of the Friday Sketchers DT! Hope you can play along with us this week!

Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog Hop Day #2

Sweet N Sassy - Page 108

Happy Thursday! Today is the second day of the Sweet ‘n Sassy Blog hop. If you have come over from Lisa‘s blog then you are on track. If not, then start here at Sandy’s blog and make your way back. I don’t want you to miss any of the amazing creations from the DT!

Korin wanted this hop’s theme to be a “Scripture” one. So I have chosen this scripture from the “Light of the World” set and created a card with a recessed window. I used the tutorial from Beate’s blog. It was a lot of fun to create. Here are some more pictures:

  • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Light of the World
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versacolor Charcol, Yellow, SU Real Red
  • Paper: SU Grey, Basic Brey Ambrosia
  • Embellies: Hero Arts Gemstones, Ribbon from stash

Thanks for stopping by! The next stop on the hop is the sweet &  talented Korin herself!  Have  a great day and I will be back tomorrow with my card for Friday Sketchers!

All That Scraps ~ A few more cards

All That Scraps CC Designs - Page 011

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great week-end! This is our final week before my two older boys go back to school! Summer really flew by too fast.

Today I have a couple of cards that I made using one the All That Scraps new August releases: AmyR Stamps Sympathy Stamps. This is a must have set. The sentiments are lovely.

This first one I colored and cut out the beautiful flowers and then mounted them with foam dimensionals onto my card. The sentiment was stamped and then cut out using Spellbinders Labels die. I left the die on and then airbrushed it using a copic marker that matched my color scheme. I love the crisp white line that you get.

  • Stamps: All That Scraps Amy R Stamps Sympathy Stamps
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Vintage Sepia
  • Paper: SU Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey Sugared DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Satin Ribbon from Fabricville (local sewing supply store)

I made another card using just one of the sentiments from the same set. I used the same technique as explained above for the sentiment.

Keeping it Simple

IMG_8805

Hi There! What a week-end I have had so far. We had a family reunion for my hubbie’s side of the family. So lots of cousins and aunts & uncles & grand-parents, amazing food and wine and just a lot of fun. This morning, my eldest son who is 11, took us all sailing on a Hunter. Some of you might remember that we enrolled him in a Sailing School this Summer. Well, he is totally in love with sailing. He had to take practical and theoretical exams and after he wrote the Level 1, the trainers encouraged him to try the Level 2. Well, he passed both with flying colors. Am I ever proud of him. Today, it was a little strange to have him be the one in charge. He was telling us all what to do and had to keep shouting “MUM! Watch out for the boom!” I nearly got whacked a couple of times! LOL!

Now, I am just relaxing a little. I have a banana loaf in the oven and we’re going to have it for tea. I thought I would show you this really simple card that I made a little while back and never have shown on my blog. I challenged myself to create a card using no designer paper and one that I could complete in 15 minutes. This is what I came up with. I created the the embossing with my Swiss Dots folder and the lines were made with my Score-Pal. The leaf motif is from Sweet ‘n Sassy Beautiful Borders set and the sentiment is from the Light of the World Set. The ink is Papertrey fresh snow that is stamped on SU Kraft paper.

Not my usual style but I want to have cards on hand that will suit other tastes as well.

Just wanted to mention that Suzanne and my friend Jacque have amazing Hallowe’en Blog candies right now and that there is a fun Magnolia-licous challenge going on. Check it out!

I also want to thank Tanny for this lovely award. I appreciate it sweetie!

Can you tell how much I love the images in the new Whiff of Joy Fall Kit? They are wonderful. Don’t worry if you didn’t pre-order the kit, the images will be available to purchase individually on August 24th at the WOJ online store.

I used the wonderful sketch at Everybody Art Challenge for this card. I actually had the image all colored in and the papers chosen and once I saw this sketch, I knew that it would be perfect. I used the WOJ swirls stamps to create a little bit of interest behind the image.

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Papertrey cardstock, Basic Grey Wisteria
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: May Arts chiffon ribbon, SU Hodge podge for pin and flowers.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your input and support! Love you all!

  • Stamps: Digital Delights by Louby Loo, SU Sentiment
  • Ink: Printer Inkjet

Cherish ~ Friday Sketchers Week # 66

Friday Sketchers - Page 025

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I have my card for this week’s Friday Sketchers Challenge to show you. This week it is the wonderful Carole’s turn to host the challenge and she has created such a beautiful sketch for us all to follow. I have used another of the new stamps from the Whiff of Joy Fall release kit. They are all so fabulous and such a dream to color. I have used this sweet image of Harvest Willow (that is what I am calling her as she isn’t officially named yet) and the harvest corn stamp is also from the kit. It is actually a lovely corner stamp but I have used it more as background on the front and you can see the whole stamp on the inside of the card.

Sweet Stop # 17

Sweet N Sassy - Page 106

Hi everyone! Today is Wednesday so I have my card for this week’s Sweet Stop to show you. This week we have an extra little spin to the sketch which is to create an Autumn or Back to School card. I have wanted to use this very cute little digi image of Mr Crow since I saw it. He just cracks me up. I thought he would be cute to use on a back to school card. He has the same stunned expression as my kids did when I told them that Summer vacation was ending in less than 2 weeks! EEK! I don’t want them to go back either but I think it is worse for them!

  • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Digital Image Something to Crow About, Sentiment from School Girl Sally
  • Ink: Printer Ink Jet
  • Paper: SU Basic Black, K&Co Wild Saffron
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by. I had a rough day yesterday. I have been having a lot of trouble with my eyes these last few weeks. I thought at first it was just allergies but after a couple of weeks, I went to the pharmacist and he gave me drops. They didn’t work and by today, I couldn’t take it anymore. So, I had to leave the 3 kiddies with hubbie and I waited 4 hours at the clinic. I brought a book and read over 250 pages while I was waiting. Long story short, I have allergies but also an infection and need a specific antibiotic. My eyes are feeling better already. Thank goodness but I was just about to go crazy in the waiting room. All this to explain why I am behind in my commenting (AGAIN) Sorry!

Whiff of Joy Fall Kit ~ DT Card

Whiff Of Joy - Page 125

Hi Everyone! If it seems that I haven’t been around that much it is because we took a spur of the moment trip up to the cottage. The weather was very hot & muggy here but over at the cottage it was perfect. The kids were so happy to enjoy some more fishing and boating. Now we are back and I have a bit of catching up to do!

I was delighted to find my Whiff of Joy Fall Kit in my mail-box this morning. I know that Katharina has mailed off all the pre-orders so you won’t have long to wait. I didn’t know which beauty to ink up first. The images are all so gorgeous! Finally I decided to use this one! I don’t know what it is called but it reminds me of playing with the kids in the Autumn. We take walks in the forest and try to catch the falling leaves! We have so much fun and I cherish moments like these with my sons and my hubby.

Whiff Of Joy - Page 126

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Fall Kit 2009
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Pre-made card base, SU Chocolate Chip, SU Retired DP

Katharina is offering up more blog candy (I know, she is the MOST generous person I know) and you can have the chance to win two new stamps:

They are not part of the Fall Kit but they will go on sale August 24th which is the same day that the individual stamps from the Fall kit will be available. To enter please click here.

That is it for me today. I will be showing more cards with the new stamps all week so don’t forget to go back on over!

Sketch Saturday Week #64

Sketch Saturdays - Page 118 Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by! Here is my DT card for Sketch Saturday. I didn’t have this Magnolia stamp for very long before I had it inked up! If the colors and coloring look much brighter and bolder than what I usually use….well you’re right. I don’t know what came over me! LOL

In this picture below you can see the Shimmerz that I painted over the water. If is so pretty IRL.

Sketch Saturdays - Page 117

Friday Sketchers Week #65

Friday Sketchers - Page 023

Happy Friday! Today I have my DT card for Friday Sketchers Challenge to show you! This week it was Bea’s turn to created the sketch and host the challenge. Her sketch is amazing and I had such a great time working all her elements into my card. Thanks Bea!

Friday Sketchers - Page 021

I thought it would be fun to have the sentiment on a tag with just a little bit peeking out from the side. When I adhered my image panel down, I just made sure that I didn’t place any adhesive in the top left corner and that left me a little pocket to tuck the sentiment into! I used the two sizes of tag punches from Stampin’ Up to create the tag.

I added Shimmerz to Willow’s veil and you can see that much better in the photograph below.

Friday Sketchers - Page 022

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Women’s Delight , Wedding Sentiments 2009
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Certainly Celery for sponging
  • Paper: Bazzill Bling Cardstock, Basic Grey Porcelain
  • Coloring: Copic Markers, Shimmerz
  • Embellies: SU Pearl from Hodge Podge set, Flourish from EK Success punch, Flowers from Spellbinders Die, May Arts and Papertrey Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today and for all of you who take the time to comment, I just want to say “Thanks”. Your kind words motivate me and keep me wanting to create!

Please visit the FS blog to see Bea’s beautiful sketch and see the AMAZING prize up for grabs. As usual, the rest of the DT have created mini-masterpieces to inspire you. Hope you’ll get a chance to play along and share your creations with us!

You Leave Me Smiling

Sweet N Sassy - Page 105

Hi Everyone! Today my card features one of Sweet ‘n Sassy’s digital images that was drawn by our very own Deedee. It is part of a digital set called “You Leave me Smiling”. This is such a sweet little bear and although it is still Summer, I couldn’t resist coloring him up!

It is a pretty simply layout. I used a pre-made ivory card base and the paper is all from my scrap drawer. I colored the image with copics and traced around the image with my C1 marker to make it “pop” a little bit more. I cut it out with my SU Bigz die and then just sponged around the edges. The sentiment is also part of the digi package and I thought it was sweet.

Thanks for stopping by! I will be back tomorrow with my DT card for Friday Sketchers!

The Sweet Stop # 16

Sweet N Sassy - Page 104_0001

Hi Everyone! I have my card for this week’s Sweet Stop to show you! This is a different shaped card than I usually use, but I really like the way it looks.

I used this very sweet and whimsical bird from the Doodle Birds set. I also tried a little something out that I have seen the very talented Ila do. She bases the image with light copic markers and then uses her prismacolors & OMS over that. I gave it a try and I like the effect very much! Now, for some reason, the pink on the bird and the DP look to be very different so you will just have to believe me when I say that IRL they are a good match!

  • Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Doodle Birds ( it is on sale at the moment!)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Purely Pomegranite, Whisper White, Candy Lane
  • Coloring: Copics and Prismacolors & OMS
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon

Here is the sketch if you want to give it a try! You can link your entries at The Sweet Stop!

Have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!
