WOJ Diagonal Fold Pocket Card

A bit of a late post today. I was volunteering at the school this morning and I didn't have a chance to schedule my post last night. Today I wanted to show you a diagonal fold pocket card with my Whiff of Joy stamps. I absolutley adore the new WOJ Guardian Angel collection. They are all so sweet and angelic.

This is one of my favorite little projects to make and really showcases stamps that are from the same collection. I often tuck little gift cards inside one of the pockets. It only uses on sheet of DP and is made very easily and quickly. You can find the tutorial here on Splitcoasters.

Here you can see what It looks like once you remove both tags:

And here are a few more close-ups of the tags:

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Spring 2009 Guardian Angel Collection
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU Parisien Breeze DP
  • Coloring : Copic Markers
  • Embellies: MS Ribbon , SU Brads

  • That's it for today. Hope you liked this little project!

Blessings ~ Sweet 'n Sassy DT Monday Challenge

Happy Monday to you all! It is a little dull and dreary over here this morning and has literally been raining for 3 days now! The up-side of this is that the snow has almost disappeared! Today I have this card to show you that I created for the SNSS Senior DT Monday Challenge. Now, I am not one of the Senior DTs but I like to play along - especially when the challenge is a great sketch like this one!

As soon as I saw the sketch, I thought that it would be perfect to use with the new SNSS Digital images. I knew right away that I wanted to use this gorgeous Luna Moth and I was just about to print it out 3 times, when I thought that I'd make two of them smaller. It took...oh...maybe 3 seconds to change it up....press print and while I'm waiting, I picked out my DP and copic markers to match!

    • Images: Digital Upload from Sweet 'n Sassy- Luna Moth, Sentiment SNSS Elegant Blessings
    • Ink: Printer
    • Paper: SU Whisper White, Baja Breeze, My Mind's Eye DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers
    • Embellies: K&Co Adhesive Gems, Ribbon from Stash

Hope you can join in with the fun. All you have to do is link your creation to this post here. Korin will be giving out a free digital image to the winner! AND you get to choose which one you want!

When uploading to SCS & PCP galleries use keyword SNSMC18.

Be sure to check out the following DT blogs for more inspiration:

Have a great day and if you have sunshine where you are...can you send some over here to Québec?

You Make Me Happy - Sugar Nellie

Today I have a card that I made for the Sugar Bowl Challenge which is to create a card to celebrate Spring or Easter. I tried not to make this card too busy. The only embellie is that wide grosgrain ribbon and I have used some SU rub-ons for the sentiment and some swirls and flowers but they are pretty low key.

I love this new Sugar Nellie image which is named "Windswept". I pulled the colors I used from the papers and after coloring the image, I masked it and airbrushed it with my copic airbrush system. I have started to use 2 colors when I airbrush and I really like the effect it makes. These Suge Nellies are so wonderful to color. I love the windswept look..it creates folds and hair blowing in the wind that is perfect to color!

    • Stamps: Windswept by Sugar Nellies available at Funky Kits
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: SU Kraft, Whisper White, Crate DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers
    • Embellies: SU rub-ons, PaperTrey Aqua Mist ribbon

That's it for today. I am astonished to see that my hits are almost at 50, 000! I think it is time for some blog candy to celebrate! Stay tuned........

    Party Time ~ Sketch Saturday

Happy Week-end everyone! I love to start my Saturday off with a cup of coffee and grab a few minutes to see the Sketch Saturday posting....and take a look at the entries so far. You have to remember that I am in Canada, so 8:00 am for me is actually 1:00 pm for you. By the time I am up...a lot of you amazing stampers have already completed your cards!

It is the end of the month, so our fabulous regular sponsor, The Craft Barn is generously offering this week's prize of two Whiff of Joy stamps from the new Medieval Collection. These are adorable and if you notice, I have used the Jester from the same collection for my card this week!

Now, I will be honest, I was intimidated by all those CIRCLES! Yikes! Then I remembered I had some circle makers from Creative Memories and they got the job done quickly. I used my Crop-o-dile to create the very small ones. As you can see, I got somewhat carried away but, they are supposed to be the rest of the Jester's balls. Don't worry if you don't have any tools to make circles. You could use patterned paper of even little gemstones or dewdrops!

    • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Medieval Collection, Sentiment from SU - Lots of Thoughts
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versacolor Green Tea
    • Paper: SU Cardstock, Daisy Bucket DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers & Copic Airbrushing
    • Embellies: SU Ribbon, Glossy Accents for the Jester's Balls

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your week-end is wonderful and that wherever you are, the weather is lovely. Here is the sketch for you to follow and please stop by the blogs of the rest of the Sketch Saturday DT. Their work is fabulous and so inspirational!

    With Love ~ Mojo Monday

Hi there! I am totally behind today! My son is doing a school project with a friend and we get a call this morning from the friend's Mum. He can't make it over this week-end so can he come today after school? So, there I am running off to the store to buy all the things I thought I could shop for at my leisure tomorrow. Of course, my husband also had a few errands for me so my little 3 year old and I have been running about town!

I was super excited after making this card last night and I just had to share! I used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday and the beautiful tafetta ribbon and this DP were the inspiration for the colors. I don't generally use green that much but I love this shade paired with simple white. This lovely WOJ image was colored very quickly with a very light touch on the dress and a touch of Shimmerz on the wings and dress. Let me know what you think!

    • Stamps: Whiff of Joy Guardian Angel Collection Spring 2009, Swirls & Sentiments Collection
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versa Color Green Tea
    • Paper: Bazzil Cardstock, Basic Grey Porcelein Series DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers, Shimmerz in Angels Wing

Today I can show you another card with the newly released Whiff of Joy Guardian Angels. This one is called "Melinda with Muffin Basket". I had so much fun coloring this one. I love the hair on all these angels. There are so many waves and so much movement and I just love adding high-lights and shadows!
I haven't added a sentiment yet but this card would be perfect as a birthday card since Melinda has a candle in the muffin she is holding!

    Springtime ~ Stamp Something

Goodmorning Everyone! Well, it doesn't feel like spring outside for us today. After a few days of warm weather that had all the snow melting away, we are back to pretty cold temperatures again. I am not worried though. This week-end while the kids and I were outside, we spotted the v-formations of Canada Geese returning home. To be exact, we heard them first and then searched the skies to see where they were! It was so sweet to hear my 2 older children explain to the little one that the geese had come home because they know it is spring-time in Canada! For us, it is the true harbinger of Spring-time and it never fails to thrill me to see them flying in the skies.

The card I have for you today is for the Stamp Something challenge which is to create something that reminds you of spring. Well, I don't have any Canada geese stamps so I used this darling one from Whimsy Stamps. Spring-time is always umbrella time and Emma looks so sweet with her brolly and in her little boots. I colored her to match my DP and although the colors are not your typical spring ones, I just love them. Before I forget, if you love Basic Grey DP (and who doesn't?) Whimsy is also selling Basic Grey on their web-site! Yippee!

    • Stamp: Whimsy Kids Collection: Emma with Umbrella
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: SU Chocolate Chip & Parisien Breeze
    • Coloring: Copic Markers
    • Embellies: Making Memories Brads, SU Taffeta Ribbon
    Hope you enjoy your day!

    Sweet 'n Sassy Challenges

I have two cards to show you today that I made for some SNSS challenges. The first was for the Sweet 'n Sassy Monday challenge which was a color challenge to use Pink & Orange or Pink & Brown on your card. Now, I am trying to leave my comfort zone, so I picked......Pink & Orange, a color combo I have NEVER used! I used one of the many new Digi Images that SNSS has come out with. Isn't this dragonfly the cutest? The sentiment also comes with the image and I just think it makes the greatest little card to send to someone who is home sick with a cold or the flu.

    • Stamps: Gone Buggy Digital Image available through Sweet 'n Sassy
    • Ink: Printer Ink
    • Paper: SU Tangerine Tango, Pink Pirouette
    • Coloring: Coic Markers
    • Embellies: Hero Arts Adhesive Gems, SU White Taffeta Ribbon, Stickles

My second card I made for the SNSS PCP sketch challenge. What a gorgeous sketch and for once, I followed the sketch quite faithfully! The butterfly was made with the new SU Bigz die and vellum glitter paper.

    • Stamps: Sweet 'n Sassy A True Friend
    • Ink: Encore Metallic Ink & Stampendous White Pearl Embossing Powder
    • Paper: SU Sahara Sand & Parisien Breeze DP
    • Embellies: K&Co Adhesive Pearls, Ribbon from Fabricville (fabric& notions store)

Hope the start of your week is wonderful and thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you can join in with these challenges. The links are right there in my post if you need the details! ALmost forgot....Sweet 'n Sassy is now carrying Neenah Solar Crest paper. That's my preferred paper for Copic Markers and what I now use all the time. The blendability quality you get with this paper is just wonderful! Here's the link!

    WOJ ~ Confirmation Melinda

I have had a busy week-end as we had a family Celebration ~ Birthday party for my two eldest sons who both had their birthdays in the last two weeks! Everyone had a great time and the kids had a blast playing with their cousins! I have enought left-overs that I don't have to cook supper tonight! Yippee!
So, this morning, I spent a little time in my craft room and made this card using some of the new WOJ releases. The image is "Confirmation Melinda" and the sentiment is from the "must-have" set "Spring Swirls & Sentiments Collection". I know that this set is one that I will use a lot to add that little something "extra-special" to my cards.

    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Encore Metallic Gold
    • Paper: Bazzill cardstock, Sheer Glitter DP by The Paper Company
    • Coloring Copic Markers
    • Embellies: K&Co Adhesive Pearls, SU Taffeta Ribbon, Wide Ribbon from Fabricville

The stamps became available today at the WOJ online store - the wait is over! Have a great Sunday and I will be getting caught up on my commenting this week. I was so busy preparing for my sons' party and also creating cards that I am a little behind (again) on my blog-hopping!

    Whiff of Joy Sneak Peek

    My
WOJ stamps finally arrived and let me just say that they certainly were well worth the wait. I hope you have been saving up because you are going to want them all! They go on sale at the Whiff of Joy online store on Sunday 22nd, o:oo GMT +1. I think dear Katharina is going to be one busy girl! She has a special one day only blog candy going on right now and you don't want to miss that either!

I hope to have more cards made this week-end but I had to at least make one up to show you before they are released! I love this image. Once again, Elisabeth Bell has captured such a tender and sweet expression for this little Guardian Angel! I also decorated the inside using WOJ's own DT Sonja's lovely swirls and a sentiment inspired by another DT, Bev. WhooHoo they are a talented bunch!

    • Stamps: Whiff of Joy - Guardian Angel Spring 2009 & Swirls & Sentiments (available March 22nd)
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: SU Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, Parisien Breeze DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers

The pictures are not as I would wish but it is late and I have lent my day-light lamp away so....this is how they came out! I will re-take them later on but for now I am too impatient to share the card with you! LOL! Edit: I have retaken them - ehat a difference daylight makes!

    Have a great day!

    Sugar Nellie Party Parade

A couple of days ago, I received an over-sized envelope from Funky Kits. I had now idea what it could be and when I opened it, imagine how happy I was to see a Gorjuss Girl print signed on the back by Suzanne Woolcott. It was such a surprise and I cannot believe how lucky I was to win it. I had pre-ordered the Gorjuss girls and had forgotten that there were to be prizes! Thank you dear Sugar Nellie! You really are sweet and I am so lucky lately that some of your sugar has been falling my way! This print is going to be framed and put in my craft room to inspire me!

Today I can show you a card I made with one of the DT stamps I recieved from Sugar Nellie. It is illustrated by Mary Hall and is called Party Parade. What a fun stamp to color! I used my copic markers and went to town with the colors!

    • Stamps: Sugar Nellie Party Parade available from Funky Kits
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
    • Paper: SU Cardstock and DP
    • Coloring: Copic Markers & Atyou Spica Markers

I am really hoping that today will be the day that my WOJ stamps arrive. I have my card ready - minus the image - hopefully I'll be able to give you a sneak peek of my own! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

    While the cat's away.....

Hi Everyone! It is my middle son's birthday today! He turns 8 and is soooo excited! He is off to school with some home-made cookies to share with his classmates and I will be taking him out for lunch! He woke up to a little present on his bed with a note to go on downstairs to see a "bigger" one. He is crazy about all things Medieval, so we found a wonderful wooden castle that he can build and then play with all his little knights, kings and horses! I placed the WOJ interactive card I had made him on the top of the castle and he was so pleased with it. The knight and dragon are now battling on the front of my fridge....and I have had a request for a princess, castle, horse, and a wizard. Katharina...... I need a Medieval horse stamp and wizard stamp! Yikes...what have I started! Now, if you are here to see a sneak peek of the new WOJ stamps.......I can't help you....mine haven't arrived yet.......you'll have to do what I've been doing and going to visit the WOJ DT and drool over their gorgeous creations!

However, I can show you this card I made with Sweet 'n Sassy's set called Purr-Fect Day. I love this set...it is so cute and funny! The little paw prints are so much fun to use and there are a bunch of other sentiments. I colored the images with OMS & prisma and the paper is Basic Grey Ambrosia. You can get that at SNSS too!

I have received my package of some of April's new releases and let me just say.....WOW! I am loving them! On top of all this, SNSS is releasing digital images weekly now....they are so sweet and I wish there were more hours in the day to play with everything. Go on over and check them out here! They are really fun and very affordable and you don't have to wait for them to be shipped! You just download and print!

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Magnolia Springtime ~ A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge

Today I have a card that I made for this week's A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge. The challenge this week is to use Gems on your creation. This was pretty easy for me as they are one of my favorite embellies! I used this very sweet Tilda and blossoming tree that is from one of Magnolia's new collections....they are releasing so many that I am having a hard time keeping up with all the collection names!

I think this is such a sweet image and so I kept the coloring very soft and used my prismacolors with OMS as my coloring medium. I added a little sparkle to the blossoms with my atyou spica glitter pens. I sponged around the edges with some chocolate chip ink and then sponged the sky with soft sky ink.

    • Stamps: Magnolia
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky
    • Paper: SU Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, DP from Memory Box
    • Coloring: OMS & Prismacolors, Spica pens
    • Embellies: Dollar Store Gemstones, Flowers cut with Cuttlebug die, Flourish with Quickutz die

That is it for me. My WOJ DT package still hasn't arrived....sob...and there is something wonky going on with my email......so if you have been sending me messages and I am not replying.....I apologize. I hope to figure out what is wrong soon! Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

    Whimsical Day!

Goodmorning Everyone! You will notice ... no WOJ sneak peek. My postie did not bring my much anticipated WOJ DT package....pure torture...my fingers are itching to get a hold of them now that I am seeing the DT's fabulous creations!
But I couldn't stay disappointed because he did bring my Whimsy New Release stamps! Happy Dance! They again are featuring Emma & Connor and they are just adorable. They are available now on the Whimsy web-site!

Now, I didn't get the chance to play with them yet but I have a new card to show you featuring Whimsy's Emma with Pajamas. I only used a portion of the stamp and I tried to give the card a more old-fashioned look by sponging the edges and adding swirls!

Usually I color my backgrounds by using the Copic Airbrush system but I know that if you are just starting out...you may not have this system yet. For this card, I did the background just by coloring with a very light marker (V000). I held my marker more at a tilt and that way I had a larger surface area of the marker touching my paper rather than just the tip. I worked fairly fast to make sure it would look even. So there you are......how to get the look without spending the $$$!

I made this card for Whimsical Wednesdays which is being held at SNR's Card Universe. The challenge is to make a card following this sketch (actually one of mine) and you have until Wednesday 25th to enter. All details can be found here. You can win a new Whimsy stamp!

I have another Whimsy card to show you. This one is a sample invitation I have made for a little girls' birthday party. When I saw this carriage in the Whimsy Wedding line, I thought it was so versatile. I embossed the image and then airbrushed with my copic system. Then I added stickles to the inside of the carriage and along the perimeter of the card. I little white taffeta bow and some gemstones in the corners and it was done!

Wow...this ended up being a long post! Thanks for staying till the end! I was so excited about my new whimsy cards that I had to show you both of them at once!
    Enjoy your day!
