Sweet 'n Sassy Blog Hop Day #2

It is Day 2 of the SNSS blog hop and I'm the 4th stop of the day! You may have come here from Faith's blog but if not, make sure you hop on over there and follow the hop to see the creation's of rest of my amazing fellow DT members. They are showcasing so many of Sweet 'n Sassy's amazing stamp sets. I decided to make a card using my favorite Sassy Owl sets. The owls are actually from two different sets but with the magic of masking, here they are together!

If you haven't masked before, it really is easy - you just have to decide how you want your finished image to appear. Basically the image in the very front (open-eyed owl) is stamped first, then masked. The next image is stamped and will appear behind the first once the mask is taken off. The image you want in the very back is the last thing you stamp (in this case the tree branch).

I colored my images with Prismacolors and OMS, masked them (yet again) and airbrushed the background with my copic system. I used my SU! Top Notch and then adhered that to the inner square which is popped up onto the main card with dimensionals. I ran a length of sheer black ribbon behind it.

The sentiment was also airbrushed and is from yet another SNSS set. It is great how you are able to mix all the SNSS sets up and come up with different cards all the time.
Stamps Sets used: A True Friend, Owl Occasions, Sweet Dreams

Well, your next stop on this blog hop is Sarah. Hop on over and have a great day. Tomorrow I'll have a new card for Sketch Saturday. It is quite a sketch - you'll want to play along!

Thanks for stopping by!

  • Coloring: Distress Inks

Sweet 'n Sassy Blog Hop

Good morning! We had quite the snow storm yesterday...blowing snow the whole bit. I'm not quite sure what the accumulation ended up being but there were predicting 37 cm! Good for skiing!!! I want to go cross-country skiing with my older kids this week-end and I think Mother Nature has been very co-operative!

Today is the first day of the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog hop for February. There are no new releases this month so the DT has carte blanche to use whichever stamps they feel like! The Blog Hop schedule is on my side-bar. Since today is the first day, you start here at the SNSS blog and just follow the hop from there. Today isn't my day (it is tomorrow so don't forget to stop by) but I have a few cards ready so I want to show you this one today!

A bit of a change from all my "cute" cards, but the whimsical cards are not for everyone! This was fairly straightforward. It is the intricate circle that really highlights the sentiment. I found out how to do this here.

I am so behind with my comments....sorry.....never enough time for all I want to do! I hope to do so blog hopping today! Have a great day!

SNSS DT Monday Challenge & PCP Challenge

This week the Monday SNS challenge is to create a card and have a heart or hearts on it. They can be punched out, embossed, etc and it doesn't have to be a Valentine's Card although you probably need to make a few of theses anyhow!

I chose to use this older SNSS set "Penguin Hugs" although for me it is brand new! I created the little snow banks behind the penguins by drawing them with my versamark pen and then embossing with clear powder. Then I added more versamark (with the pad this time) and added glitter t to make the snow sparkle. It is always hard to get the effect captured on a photo but I think you can make it out! I also embossed the sentiment and the little heart above their heads with a pearl embossing powder and there is a tiny little heart in the middle of my snowflake. I think I have met the challenge! If you'd like to play along just use SNSMC11 to tag your card on SCS or PCP and leave a link to the challenge on the SNSS blog here.

I have another card to share with you as well. This one is for the Sweet 'n Sassy sketch challenge on PCP. You can find the sketch here. For this one, I used the newly released "Purr-fect Day" set. It is such a great set and comes with the cutest sentiments and little paw prints. Who can resist? I colored the kittie with copic markers: E51, E55, E57 and added the cheeks with prismacolor and OMS. The SNSS Copic Junkie club is still signing people up. I am so excited tath Korin is doing this. It is so costly to grow your collection and for me there is always the issue of high shipping costs. This deal is a dream come true for me! You can find out more here. Just scroll down to the relevant posts!

Well, hope you all have a great day. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get th chance to get a little "inky" today!

Chocolate ~ CCT Challenge

Good Sunday Morning to everyone. We're in a bit of a deep freeze here again! Well, that's winter in Canada! We had a lovely roaring fire last night and that warmed us all up!

Here is my card for this week's Cute Card Thursday. This week the challenge is to create a scene card. I hadn't used this gorgeous Alota chocolate box yet and I knew it would be perfect with one of my Magnolias. This one is from the Valentine collection. I received my Bittersweet paper that I had ordered from Sweet 'n Sassy and it was just perfect for the scene I had in mind! The card turned out just as I had imagined it and that doesn't always happen! I am really happy with it.

I airbrushed the background with two colors this time to make it look more like the box is sitting on something...see I learned from my "floating" Gingersnap card from last week! LOL!

Here are the Copic Makers that I used: EOOO, R20, RV02, RV32, RV34, E21,E25, E27, E34, Y21, YR24, B00

Hope you have a wonderful day and I will be back tomorrow to show you my card for this week's SNSS DT Challenge.

Love You ~ Sketch Saturday #35

The week just flew by and before I knew it, Saturday was here! For this week's card, I inked up this beautiful Sarah Kay stamp and used my prismacolors & OMS to color it in. I love the soft shading you get with your prismas. I kept it fairly simple and used very soft colors. I couldn't find a flower that matched perfectly so I made one using my SU! punch. I sponged the edges to add a little dimension.
  • Stamps: Sarah Kay, SU! Short & Sweet
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi
  • Paper: SU! Sage Shadow, Soft Sky, K&Co DP
  • Coloring: Prismacolors & OMS
  • Embellies: SU! Gemstone Brads, K&CO Adhesive ribbon, Martha Stewart Ribbon
This weeks sketch is sponsored by Emma Lockley, Emma is an independant Stampin Up demonstrator and she is offering an amazing prize as well as a special discount. Please visit the SS blog for all the details. You don't want to miss out on this one!
Here is Jo's lovely sketch. I hope you can play along with us this week. Jo has a wonderful blog candy on her blog celebrating her blogoversary and a whopping number of hits. Please visit her and the rest of the talented SS Design Team.

I also want to let you know about some exciting Copic news. If you are looking to start your collection or want to build up an existing one, then I have amazing news for you. Korin, the owner of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is starting a "Copic Junkie Club". It will be a monthly club and you'll be able to get these markers at an amazing price and the best part is that she will ship internationally as well. It is a fantastic deal wherever you may be. Please visit the SNSS blog for all the details! There is a Yahoo Group you can join and there will be tons of tips and tutorials for all. You can join this group whether or not you decide to jump on board with the club.
Claudia also has a yummy blog candy right now on her blog. It involves Alota stamps! Claudia's cards are masterpieces so you'll have to make a cuppa before visiting because you'll be there for a while!
Wow!!! Sorry about the long post! Have a great week-end and I'll have a new card posted tomorrow.

Still Waters

Here is another card using the SNSS set "Be Still". Such a soft and serene set. I colored my image with Copics and then masked it and airbrushed the background. I concentrated more at the bottom of the sky and left it softer towards the top. The sentiment is also from the same set and fit perfectly in my Spellbinder's Ribbon Trio.

Are you a Copic Junkie? Do you want to be? Korin is going to start a Copic Marker Club! What a great idea. To get more details, please visit the SNSS blog. She is starting a Yahoo group too and even if you're not sure about joining in the club, you can join the group. I imagine there will be amazing tips and sharing of ideas. The address to join the Yahoo group is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/snsscopicjunkies/ Hope to see you there!

I have again been spoiled with awards from some very talented crafters! What a great feeling! LOL!

Debbie (who gave me the above plus these!)

Celebrate the Everday - CCT Challenge

Hi Everyone! Here is my card for this week's Cute Card Thurday Challenge which is to "have a giggle".

This WOJ image from the newly released Party Animals collection just makes me smile every time I see it. That mouse is so cute and he reminds me of my little 3 year old who is always so adorable- especially when he is up to some mischief!

I used sketch # SC207 from Splitcoasters and used my favorite embellies: ribbons and pearls. The sentiment is also from WOJ. I used my Copic airbrusher to create the background behind the mouse. Now, I have been using the canned air and am going through it too fast. I am looking into getting an air compressor and would welcome any advice or comment from any of you that already own one!

  • Stamps: Whiff of Joy
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Basic Grey, SU! Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
  • Coloring: Prismacolors & OMS, Copic Airbrushing
  • Embellies: PaperTrey Ribbon, K&Co Adhesive Pearls

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sophisticated Owl

I had wanted to post this earlier today but the day just went by so quickly! The boys are off from school today so I spent the day with them. I usually read to them at night but it is never long enough for them, so this afternoon I read to them for about an hour! I started to get hoarse! We also went for a long walk in the woods near our home. It felt so good just to get out. It has been so cold lately and with the renovations still underway (don't ask me how fed up I am) being at home has felt a little constrictive!
That being said, I wanted to post this although it is quite late now! I made this card for Whimsy's PCP challenge which is to use black. I think my little Whimsy Owl is looking quite sophisticated! What do you think?

Denise is now looking for a Guest Designer for Whimsy Stamps for the month of February. Details can be found on her blog! Why not give it a try!

SNSS Monday DT Challenge # 10

This week it is Chis's turn to host the challenge. She wants you to derive inspiration from Cinderella. Now, Cinderella was always my favorite while growing up (and still is to this day). I loved her beautiful blue and white dress and so that is what I based my card on. Now my friends who are reading this are giggling because I have to confess that I find blue & white hard to resist and it has now become quite a joke! Here is my take:

I used blue and silver matte metallic paper that I picked up a while ago at a craft store. I didn't have a purpose for them but they were so beautiful. Very Cinderella- like colors! I embossed the image and sentiment and cut them out with my Nesties. There is a wide white satin ribbon running behind the image and because we can't forget her glass slipper - I have added clear gem adhesives to the corners!

  • Stamps: Sweet n Sassy Winter at Home
  • Ink: Encore Metallic in Blue with Stampendous Embossing Powder
  • Paper: Sorry I have no brand name
  • Embellies: White Satin Ribbon - Fabricville, Martha Stewart Gems

If you would like to participate in this challenge, please visit the Sweet n Sassy blog for all the details! And don't forget to stop by the SNSS store, Korin is still having an amazing sale! I just spent the last of my Chrismas stash over there!

New Winner for Whimsy Candy & More Awards!

My original Whimsy Candy winner never contacted me. I did leave a comment on her blog but since she had no email address listed, I couldn't contact her directly. I think I have waited a fair amount of time, so Denise and I agreed that I should pick a new winner.

Here are your random numbers:76
Timestamp: 2009-01-18 13:55:42 UTC

Which means that my new winner is Beate!

"I wish you a happy new year. What a nice blog-candy!I linked you on my blog.Greetings from GermanyBeate"

Congratulations Beate! Please send me your address so I can send out your Whimsy candy.

I have been given more awards this week! WOW! What a great feeling to know others are enjoying what you are making! Keeps my MOJO alive even when it is freezing outside.
This one is from my sweet and super talented friend Anki:

This one is from Rachel whose ATS projects make me drool and also from my wonderful friend Heike who encourages me with her kind words and wonderful creations:

This award is given to a blog that invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!"

The lovely and amazingly talented Michele gave me these 2:

Thank you my friends. They are all so pretty and I am honored that you chose me. I am again going to pass these along to all of you who visit and encourage me. I can't pick just a few of you...that is torture! I want you all to have them! Please visit their blogs to be inspired at their gorgeous creations!

I will hopefully be able to post a card later today! Enjoy your day wherever you are!

Gingersnaps Hugs & Kisses -Sketch Saturday #34

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by. Here is my card for this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge. I promised you another Gingersnaps image and here it is. These are so fun to color. I used Prismacolors & OMS for the image and then masked it and airbrushed it. Looking at it now I realize that she is sitting on ...well..nothing! Oops! I probably should have put some ribbon there! Funny how you sometimes don't notice these things right away!

  • Stamps: All That Scraps - Gingersnaps
  • Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Blue Bayou
  • Paper: SU! Bashful Blue, Pebbles DP
  • Coloring: Prismacolors and OMS
  • Embellies: SU! Buttons and Twine, K&CO Adhesive Gems

Here is Jo's fab sketch. Hope you get a chance to play along. My fellow DT's have made wonderful cards. Don't forget to give them a visit. Sadly, Emma has had to step down from SS due to work & family commitments. We are really going to miss her but understand why she has to leave.

Have a great day. Tomorrow, I am going to announce a new winner for my Whimsy Blog Candy. I never heard back from the original winner. So maybe you will be the lucky one!

Gingersnaps ~ A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge

The challenge at A Spoonful of Sugar this week is "paper piecing". I thought this sweet ATS Gingersnap girl would be perfect for this. These images are a little bigger than usual for ATS and I really like the size. I used sketch # SC204 from Splitcoasters for the card. I paper pieced the top of her hat, her coat and the pom-poms. The tops of her boots are covered in fun flock, the hearts have stickles and the boots have glossy accents.

  • Stamps: All That Scraps Gingersnaps, Sentment SU!
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Chocolate Chip
  • Paper: Daisy Bucket Meadow DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers (E00,R20,E25,E27,BG10,Bg11,Bg13,Blender)
  • Embellies: Prima Flowers, SU! Hemp Twine
Have a great day and stay warm! Tomorrow stop by to see my card for Sketch Saturday...I used another Gingersnap image..but that's all I'm telling! LOL!

Moose You Much - Papertake Challenge

Whimsy Stamps is sponsoring this week's Papertake Challenge! The winner win receive the very cute Polar bear stamp and a card. All you have to do for a chance to win is make a card with Dawn's amazing sketch! I know that a lot of you have fallen in love with these stamps. I can't believe how lucky I am to have been asked to me on the Design Team! Denise had added another DT member and it is none other than my fellow Sketch Saturday buddy - Debbie. I am so happy that she has joined the team. She is fantastically talented and a really sweet person too!
Whimsy also has a special offer just for Papertake Weekly readers and participants. From now through January 18th, enter the code PTW during check in the coupon code box and receive 15% off your entire order! WOW! What are you waiting for? Beat the Winter blues with a little Whimsy!
For my card, I chose this goofy moose. He is too funny. I colored him with Prismacolors and OMS. I colored a soft border all around him and then along the edges of my label cut out. Then I masked the moose and added a soft airbrushing with my Copic system. (Then I ran out of air, but that is another story!) The sentiment is also from Whimsy.
  • Stamps: Whimsy
  • Ink: Memento, SU! Wild Wasabi
  • Paper: SU! Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou, Misc Scraps
  • Coloring: Prismacolors & OMS, Copic Airbrushing
  • Embellies: Papertrey Ribbon - Aqua Mist
Thanks for stopping by for my second post today! We are experiencing a pretty frigid spell here in Quebec. With the windchill factored in, it is -35 C. I stayed in all today except for dropping my kids off and picking them up from school. The snow sounds really cool when you walk on it - it actually CRUNCHES!
