Season’s Greetings

Happy Tuesday and Happy Christmas Eve! I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas! I will be taking some days off to fully be present during this festive time.  I do have one last holiday card to share with you.

I used the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp set for this card.I stamped each component with different colors of ink and colored n the pinecones with copic markers and polychromos pencils.  I tried to create the feel of a vintage postcard! I sponged the edges with some ink to create even more of a vintage feel.

I created a 6x6’ cardbase and added some old patterned paper from my stash that had the same color palette as my postcard.  I slipped a doily underneath and then tied some twine onto one side.  I wanted to create the feel of some old, much loved postcards held together with some string!

Thanks for stopping by! I truly appreciated your support. I will be back in the New Year!

Happy Owlidays

Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a great week so far! I have another Christmas card to share with you today and it features another sweet owl from Whimsy Stamps.  This clear set is called Happy Owlidays and features three very cute owls and various “punny” senitments!

I have been loving the look of stamping my images with Memento London Fog ink.  It is quite a bit lighter than the Tuxedo Black ink but it is dark enough that it doesn’t make it more difficut to color! I colored up both the owl and the background using Copic Markers.  I drew in that tree brahc so that he had a little something to be perched on!  I did go over some areas with Polychromos pencils, particularily the eyes.

I cut out the image and two other mats using the Zig Zagged Stitched Rectangle die set.  I love the detail on this one! To create the sentiment, I heat embossed onto some black cardstock with white embossing powder and then cut it out using one of the dies in the Quick Strip die set. I find I reach for this set quite often!

I hope that this card made you smile! Have a great rest of the day and thank you so much for stopping by!

Celebrate the Season

Happy Friday! It snowed yesterday and although there is not a lot of accumulation, what did fall is still there and the roads are icy.  I had gotten out the mittens, tuques, boots and scarves as well as the sturdy winter coats.  All was in readiness.....and still we were all shocked by the sudden blast of cold and snow!

These sweet mice are helping me forget how cold it is outside.  The Very Mice Clear Stamp set is such a fun and versatile stamp set.  So far, this is my second card using the set but I already have some ideas on how to style these mice in some outdoor scenes! Stay tuned for that!

I stamped the images using Memento London Fog ink so that I get a softer look. The lines tend to fade out a little bit once you start to add color.  I usedCopic Markers and then went over some of the areas with colored pencils to deepen some of the shadows.  Always use your pencils after your copics, otherwise you will ruin your copic markers.  I used some non-traditonal Christmas colors but I really do love how these shades look together.

After coloring the mice, I masked them and added the background by blending on various distress inks.  I have been using new blending brushes and they honestly are such a game changer!  I love the soft and even blend that is so easily achieved!

I cut out the scene using one of the dies in the Rounded Rectangle die set.  I then adhered it to my cardbase with this sweet patterned paper mat.  I had some tiny button brads in my stash (they must be at least 10 years old) and I thought they were a nice tie in to the buttons in the image.

Thanks so much for swinging by!

Christmas Mice–Whimsy November Release

Happy Friday and Happy November!  It is once again time for a new release from Whimsy Stamps and I am super excited with all the new Christmas themed products! I could not resist these sweet mice from the Very Mice Clear Stamp set.

The expressions on their faces are so sweet! I stamped the image using Memento London Fog ink so that I get a softer look. It isn’t  “no-line” coloring but it almost is!  I colored with Copic Markers and then went over some of the areas with colored pencils to deepen some of the shadows.  Always use your pencils after your copics, otherwise you will ruin your copic markers.

Originally, I had chosen another piece of patterned paper for this card, but after having completed the coloration, I realized that it was too “busy” and was actually competing with the image.  I found this paper instead and I think it ties in with the wee mouse’s scarf and compliments the image without overpowereing it!

The paper was cut using one of the dies in the Wavy Edgers Die Set.  I absolutely love the pretty scalloped curve and how it looks at the top of my card.  I then used my favorite Christmas Large Word Die to create my sentiment.  I cut it out twice and adhered them together before adding to my card.  I love the extra dimension.

Here’s a close-up of these adorable mice!
