Stamp and Create September Challenge

Happy Monday! If you have the day off for Labour Day, I hope you are enjoying this little bit of extra time :)

It is time for a new challenge over at Stamp and Create. This month the theme is:

Back to School

IMG_0925

As soon as I saw the challenge theme, I knew that I wanted to use stamps from Whiff of Joy’s Back to School collection: I Love School and School Accessories. Some of my favourite stamps and I love being able to use them again :)

I am just loving creating one layer cards but using different techniques to keep them interesting without being too fussy. I ended up embossing the book and apple stamp just so that the main image would really pop! The oval was sponged using inks from Hero Arts and Simon Says stamp. I will be creating a video sharing how I did it. Stay tuned :)

The August Challenge is:

One random participant will win a $20 Gift Certificate to Stamp and Create.

As a reminder, everything in the store is 25%-60% off!

Items will NOT be restocked so grab then at these great prices when you can!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your day!

Whiff of Joy ~ A Tribute

Happy Tuesday! So, many of you have already heard the news that Whiff of Joy is closing as of the middle of June. The news is sad and having been a fan from the very beginning  and then a designer from very early on, the news affects me in a deeply personal way.

I began blogging in June 2008 and almost immediately found Katharina’s blog. I was amazed by her talent and then her generosity of spirit as we became “blog” friends. When she opened Whiff of Joy, I was one of the very first customers. At the beginning of 2009 I earned a guest spot on the team and then was asked to stay on. I never left and in recent years went on to be the DT co-ordinator. Of this I am extremely proud.

I wanted to pay tribute to Whiff of Joy, but more importantly, to Katharina. A truer more generous friend cannot be found. As much as I cherish having been a part of Whiff of Joy for all this time, I cherish Katharina’s friendship even more. She is taking a difficult step and an exciting one and moving forward. I wanted to wish her well and let her know that Whiff of Joy has made my life more full. Full of laughter, fun and friendship. Thank you my dear friend. I am happy that this is not good-bye as we both will still meet in blog land and through social media. One day, we will meet in real life. The only question is whether it will be in Canada or Switzerland.

My fellow DT members are amazing. Past and present members, all of you made me laugh and were a delight to work with. Did I tell you often enough? I hope so. It was a privilege to work alongside you!

So, what better way to give a tribute than a compilation video of some (not all….there are too many) of my DT cards for Whiff of Joy! Grab a cuppa and sit for awhile. Share my memories with me. To see this in HD please follow this link –>HERE

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you can join with me and wish Katharina well and let her know what Whiff of Joy has meant to you.

The store in still open and will be until mid-June. You still have time to grab some lovely things. The amazing DT will be creating new makes until the end of May. You can see them on our blog.

Stamp and Create February Challenge

Happy Tuesday my friends! Sorry that it has been uber quiet here. I spent a lot of January compelled to organize and purge. Thanks to a new blog I discovered: Clean and Scentsible.  I have been spending more time doing this than crafting in my studio. I also have two quilts in the works and I have been spending my very minimal quiet time on those. I have been posting some pictures on Instagram if you want to see what I have been up to. On top of that, I have a poor kiddo at home who has a terrible cold and cough. I know that you all know what I mean.

I do have a card for this month’s February Stamp and Create Challenge:

Using Beep, beep, I love you from Whiff of Joy
(Whiff of Joy stamps are 60% off)

The February Challenge is:

All You Need is Love

Stamp and Create ~ Medieval Scene

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great week-end. It is mid-terms this week for my two eldest, so the family did not do very much as the boys were studying and finishing up essays. I took the opportunity to work on some sewing and quilting projects. I do love the whole process. From cutting to piecing to sewing and hoping that all those points come together perfectly :)

Here is my card for Stamp and Create this week. Can you tell that I have been binge watching “Reign”. The whole first season came available for us to watch on Crave TV (not sure if this is limited to Quebec or not). Anyway, I think that it influenced my stamp choice :)

DSC_8674 copy

I created this scene by masking together images from Whiff of Joy's Charlotte and Charlie Collection. I used Queen Charlotte, Knight Charlie, and Charlotte's throne. The coat of arms is also from the collection but is no longer in stock at Stamp and Create. The background was created using my Copic ABS system. Love, love the way it turned out.

Sparkle and Shine ~ Stamp and Create

Happy Monday! A brand new week and I think I am getting back to my routine :) I have a sweet card to share with you today that would work really well as a Valentine card but also just a general happy, positive card for any occasion!

I used a pretty old Whiff of Joy stamp but there are still a few available over at Stamp and Create if you want to snag it. This is really one of my favorite all-time images :) The stamp is called  Lizzie. There are few more older ones in the store and you can find them –>here.

.

DSC_8639 copy

This is a no-bulk shaker card. It seems that this is a pretty popular type of card to make lately. I sandwiched vellum between the patterned paper (old Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses) and the cardstock frame. In between I added some confetti that I made using my hole puncher and some colored card-stock. Easy and extremely thrifty :) Then, I stamped some red hearts right on top of the vellum for extra interest.

Here is the Stamp and Create news for this week:

The Magnolia Lovely Duo Collection is still available for pre-order
(and they are 10% off retail as usual)

Thanks for swinging by my little blog today. Have a good one:)

Stamp and Create Monthly Challenge

Happy Tuesday and Happy December! There is definitely an air of anticipation, joy and excitement in our home. We still have a true believer here in our home and his happiness and wonder spread to all of us. I really {heart} this season.

I will indeed be doing a December Daily this year. I ordered my kit through Ali Edwards and Studio Calico. There were a couple of glitches and I only received it yesterday. For sure, having to start decorating and planning my album in December is not my preference but it is what it is and I have to say that the A.E team really did their best in circumstances beyond their control.

That being said, I will let you in on a pretty embarrassing secret. Last year, I had all my foundation pages ready, all the embellies placed AND I never got my photos is! GASP! We went on vacation the week before Christmas and that just ended up being the reason I didn’t have time.

I am sharing this with you because it is the truth and also it might encourage you to finish off you own album if it fell by the wayside. I was surprisingly pleasant and did not take as much time as you may think. So, I spent the last few days getting caught up. I didn’t want to start 2014 before putting 2013 to rest. In a way, the delay in the 2014 kit proved to be a blessing. I actually enjoyed getting the photos printed out and doing my journaling. I was pretty good in documenting each day in a notebook so the journaling was easy. I also was very, very happy to find out that my local photo printer now offers 6x8 at a very reasonable price. So, I didn’t have to use my home printer. Definitely a time saver in my mind, as well as a more budget friendly approach.

I will share the album cover and pages at some point this month as well as share this years. I’ll also share how I got it down in a minimum of time. Stay tuned.

Today I am sharing my card for the December Stamp and Create Challenge.

I used an older stamp: Sammy with Licorice from Whiff of Joy and a fairly simple card layout. Quick and easy is the name of the game at the moment :)

The December Challenge is:

Anything Christmas

Whiff of Joy ~ A Christmas Tag

Happy Wednesday my dears! I am here to share another Christmas tag with you :) Probably my favorite way to use stamps and embellies is to create fun tags. They can go onto a card base, decorate a Project Life or December Daily album, or be used to decorate gifts :)

DSC_7968 copy

The image was colored with Copics and then masked so that I could airbrush the background on. I used creams, greens and reds to create this look. Afterwards, to mute the colors a wee bit, I spritzed on some Studio Calico Mr Huey mist in white. I added stickles, Wink of Stella in clear and even added some Liquid  Applique to the marshmallows!

The stamp, tag shape and snowflake die are all from Whiff of Joy. They are having a huge sale right now. Just click on the logo below to go to the store:

Winter’s Coming Home….

Happy Thursday! There is a definite iciness to the wind these days and I know that Winter is coming home. It isn’t a bad thing. Living in Canada, I welcome the changing of the seasons and the different rituals associated with beginning and ending of each one. Most of all, with the kids growing up so quickly, I cherish the memories of the passing seasons. So, all this to say that I have an autumn themed card that needs to be shared today (before it is too late).

DSC_8072 copy

A wee bit different from my usual style, but I am very happy with the way this one turned out. I stamped the leaves with Versamark onto water-color paper and heat embossed them using white powder. Then, I pulled out m Twinkling H20s and played with various colors until I was happy with coloring. I added a very simple sentiment and cut it to fit on an A2 card. Done.

Whiff of Joy is having a Pre-Christmas sale:

Stamp and Create ~ Two Card Post!

Happy Monday morning my friends! I have two cards, a video and new release news to share with you, so I will get right to it!

DSC_8132 copy

I created this tag for the Stamp and Create with Magnolia challenge. This time around, we are challenged to use two different patterned papers. I used Santa Lucia Tilda as well as the Spruce tree ide and tons of frantage!

Here is a quick video I filmed while I was coloring!

To play along, please click the logo below. It will take you to the correct posting :)

Magnolia Update:

The new Magnolia Waiting for Christmas Collection and the Pink and Blue Ribbon Collection are in stock…but hurry before they are gone!

Here is my second card to share:

I used Ice-Beary Greetings from Whiff of Joy. You can snag it at a great price and it is super ADORABLE!

That is it for me! I still have to edit two more videos for my Mini Halloween Card series. I will have them up soon, I promise!

Copic Airbrushing with Masks

Happy Tuesday everyone! As promised, I am back today with another airbrushed background card and a video showing you how it was done.

I have relocated my Copic ABS to a small trolley that I can wheel right over to my work station and then wheel away when I don’t need it. I find that this small change has made a world of difference in how often I use it. It is all amount easy access!

I picked up a Memory Box stencil/mask over at Scrapbook Centrale on my last visit. I had been looking at the MFT Spider web die but I had to weight the price vs. how much use I was going to get out of it. TBH, it can really only be used for Halloween/Fall themed cards, so I decided not to get it. When I saw the Distressed Web masking stencil and the pretty nice price attached, it was a no-brainer.

I was really, really happy in how the airbrushing turned out. It was thrilling to pull away the mask and see the result!

DSC_8058 copy

As you can see, there is an almost velvet look to the background. I love, love it! I had used a white card-base measuring 4.25” x 5.00”. This sweet image from Whiff of Joy’s Fall kit was the absolute perfect image to add to it!  If you neglected to pick up the kit while it was on pre-order, I am sure this will be coming out in digital form very soon!

I created another smaller card using the same technique and Copic colors. I posted that card yesterday and here is the video that I made:

Hope that this has inspired you to try using a mask/stencil to create a fun background. You could also use distress inks and foam applicators if you don’t have an airbrush system :) Here is the stencil that I used:

Whiff of Joy Challenge #187

Happy Sunday my lovelies! It has been a long week for me. We all have been taking turns with a cough and cold……and Mama is tired. It looks like we are all on the mend and next week will be productive and healthy :)

The latest Whiff of Joy Challenge has the theme of “Winter is Coming” Am I the only one who immediately thought of the Stark motto from Games of Thrones? One of my absolute favorite set of books is from the  A Song of Ice and Fire series and the HBO series is pretty amazing too….but I digress!

Here is my creation for the theme:

DSC_7971 copy

I created a small tag with a sweet ice-skating theme. I adore this sweet stamp of Henry Skating. The tag needed a little extra embellishment and this vellum cut snowflake was the perfect addition! Here is a close-up taken at a different angle:

Supplies: (Ice Skating Henry is currently 50% off and once it is gone, it is gone people)

The landscape trees are from the Lawn Fawn Snowy day stamp set.

Feel like joining in with the challenge? To enter, please go to this blog posting. You will also see the gorgeous creations of the team. I am itching to pull out my winter Whiff of Joy stamps now!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous evening!

Whiff of Joy Halloween Tags

Happy Friday! I am pretty relieved that the week-end is upon us. It has been a busy week and I need to rest! LOL! I do have another Mix ‘n Match video for you. I hope you saw and liked the one from yesterday!

If you have been following my blog for awhile, you probably have guessed that I love, love my Whiff of Joy products and I also love to create fun tags. These make great little items to tuck onto gifts or to just give to your kids as a little pick me up or to let them know that you love and appreciate them. You can never discount the enormity of these tiny gestures. The other day, I was absolutely floored to discover that my eldest actually has hung in his locker a little tag that I recently gave him. Tucked right at the back but where he sees it every time he opens his locker. That just warmed my heart :)

Here are my Halloween tags using a mish mash of products to create something unique and whimsical.
