Whimsy Stamps Video ~ Heat Embossing

Happy Monday! Today I am sharing another Whimsy Stamps video :) This time I am using heat embossing and ink sponging to create a beautiful ombre background. I am also using some wonderful metal dies to create some vellum accents and the image is a beautiful one illustrated by Elisabeth Bell.  I LOVE how this one turned out!

I absolutely love the look of white embossing and ink together. I love the moment when I start sponging and the image is revealed. Makes me happy!  By using 3 different inks, I created some interest. I kept the lower right darker and then lightened it up moving up and over to the right. The result is that the top right is the lightest.

I wanted to “ground” the image but didn’t want to cover up any of the beautiful background. By using vellum and the stitched border dies, I can create a landscape AND still see the background. It was the same idea with the speech bubble. The top left was too bare, but by adding the vellum speech bubble and the white lettering, I balanced the card out without detracting from the look.

The sweet image was colored with copics. In the video I have sped up the coloration portion so that it isn’t too long to watch and all the marker numbers are listed as I go :) The last touch on the card was to add some sequins. These are from the $store and work perfectly!
