December Daily Foundation Pages Day 1-5

This is my second year of making a December Daily album. Last year, I was profoundly impressed on how this task impacted not just my Christmas experience, but those of my husband and my children. And, I should stress that word “experience” because in essence, that is what the December Daily album does. It allows you to experience the time leading up to Christmas day. It encourages you to be present and live in the day to day moments that are the most simple but also the most precious.

This year, I was thrilled when my good friend Katharina announced that she would be creating a kit for pre-order from Whiff of Joy. I knew that she would put together some fabulous products and I was not disappointed. The Whiff of Joy December Daily kit is the core of my album and almost all the stamps and dies used are also from Whiff of Joy. It is no longer available but I have tried to find links to some of the items for you. I also used some templates from Ali Edwards, Die cuts from Kerri Bradford, Simple Stories Handmade Holiday collection, and Papertrey Ink dies and stamps to create my daily tags.

I worked in stages. All the date tags were created at once, stamped images were all colored at once, the insert pages were all covered with patterned paper at once. I kept things simple in that the overall set up of the pages is consistent. The Date tags are on the left, the journaling card is on the right with a stamped image. This year, I set aside time to do each of these tasks and simply enjoyed the process. Often, my kids would be seated across from me doing their homework.

I have broken down my foundation pages into 5 sets of 5 pages and will be sharing them over the course of this week and next. I will be adding in my personal photographs using photo templates and overlays from Ali Edwards and will be journaling each days’ story on the inserts that you will see included in my foundation pages.

The only thing that I do not have done is the actual cover of my album. I have something in mind but need to pick up a few supplies before I can get it done and I am crossing my fingers that what I will be able to create what I am envisioning. I will share the cover once it is completed. Promise.

Here is a side view of the album with all the foundation pages and the page protectors included. It already looks pretty thick!

Title Page
This is the title page that I created. I used a mixture of Ali Edwards digital products and  Whiff of Joy stamps to create this page. In this first picture you can see that I layered an over-lay that lies on top. It was cut to size from an older Hambly over-lay that I still had from last year.

Here, the overlay is turned and you can see the page fully. The Whiff of Joy kit came with thick cardboard pre-punched pages. I covered them with my patterned paper and in this case, my printed page. This created nice sturdy pages that will sandwich my photos in the page protectors.

Day 1
Love the SNAP pockets from Simple Stories. There are perfect for tucking in journaling cards.

Day 2
I did a little recycling for some of my page layouts. Last year I made a Christmas Folder (you can see it here). I decided to recycle it and use each panel in my album. It was interesting how well this older project meshed with this newer one. Some of the patterned paper is last year’s Simple Stories 25 days of Christmas.

Day 3
Once again, I have recycled a card I made a couple of years ago. Ever create something that you just couldn’t give away? I really loved this card and was happy to be able to showcase it here in my album. I simply cut the card-base away.

Day 4
Another panel from the folder. I did have to re-create the tag inserts. I will use them for journaling.

Day 5
Another folder panel. I love that the naughty list on the pattern paper relates to the Santa Claus paper opposite.

Your Daily December is amazing Jeanette. Love all the pages, you have created and that you have recycled "old" cards. That looks so gorgeous. Love the red and white (with other colors) all over. The beautiful Aceesoires and Details.
Most of all i love your colored images.

Can not wait to see your next pages.

Wow, this looks simply fabulous so far, Jeanette! Great idea to use an older project. And hey, I hadn't to take a look at the Christmas folder from last year. I can remember so well and have it in front of my eyes without looking at it, as I admired it then and even bought those beautiful Simple Story papers inspired by your creation :o)
Hugs, Karina
