Stamp & Create Monthly Challenge ~ Paper Piecing

Happy Tuesday my dear friends! Whew! It was sooo cold here yesterday but today it is starting to warm up. I am more than ready for Spring!

My card today was made for this month’s Stamp & Create Challenge which is Paper-Piecing. I decided that since I was already doing some paper-piecing, I would also 3-D my image like my talented friend Mariska does. She has a really in-depth video tutorial ~here~ to show you how she does it.

Let me just say that I am really delighted at how amazing this image looks 3-D. Let me also say that this technique is NOT for you if you like to do things quickly! OMGosh! This took a really long time to do. Let me know what you think of the results :)

CC Fairy 2012

I used one of the new CC Designs images: Swiss Nymph Lucy for my card. I simply fell in love with their release this month.I paper-pieced her dress using paper from the scrumptious new MME paper pad Miss Caroline Howdy Doody. This entire image was paper pieced. Here is what it looked like before I started to assemble it. 013

After taking this photo, I realized that I had forgotten something major. I needed to color in the image that you see in the oval with my W9 copic marker so that the white wouldn’t show. I also ended up stamping the image again because I needed a few more levels so that the dress and head would be on top of the neck. Hope that makes sense. It does take a little bit of planning to do. At this point I decided that I wasn’t going to 3-d the flowers. No way. I cheated by gluing some tiny prima ones on instead.

This side-view gives you an idea of the true 3-D look that you get. Just because I know that you will ask….I used Glossy Accents as my “glue”. I think it worked pretty well but I have nothing to compare it with. That glue that Mariska uses in her video looks pretty neat.

I also used May Arts White silk ribbon and the bow easy to tie a beautiful bow.I then added Ranger Stickles in Crystal to the wings and embellished the corner of the card with Basic Grey Curlique rub-ons. The lacey border was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

And now it's time for you to try this month’s Challenge. Remember all you have to do is the Paper Piecing!! You don’t have to do all this crazy 3-D stuff as well but if you do, you will love it!

One lucky participant will win a $25 gift certificate to Stamp and Create.

You are welcome to use any stamp to enter. You are also welcome to create tags, boxes, or scrapbook pages as long as it follows the challenge theme. You can enter your card or project ~here~ and you have until April 1st 7pm EST to do so.

However, if you are in need of stamps or supplies, check out Stamp & Create - they just might have what you are looking for!! I love the variety of crafting goods that Lacey carries in her store and her prices are pretty sweet!

That is it for me. Gotta run! Have a good one!
