Double Friday Challenges

Whiff of Joy 2010 - Page 129

Happy Friday! Hope it is sunny and warm (but not too hot) where you are! I am slowly getting back into the swing of things after our time away!

The Quebec strawberries are ripe and plentiful at the moment so that meant that it was time to make my strawberry jam! I spent the afternoon hulling the strawberries that I bought from the farmer’s market and turning them into sweet yummy jam. Jam making is something I never did growing up. My Mum never made jam but a few years ago I decided to try it out and became instantly hooked on the whole process!

My first card today is for the Friday Sketchers Challenge which I am hosting this week by our generous monthly sponsor Simon Says Stamp. My sketch is nice and simple and I hope you can find a little time to try it out!

I made my sketch a while ago but when it came time to create a card with it, I knew that I wanted to use this Sweet November mermaid and create an underwater scene. I used some vellum which I ran through my cuttlebug using this swirl embossing folder. I lightly sponged over top of it with some Bashful blue ink.

  • Stamps: Sweet November  Ocean Wavedancer  (I bought mine ~here~ at Stamp & Create)
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Bashful Blue, Black, Bazzill Shimmer cardstock, Basic Grey Wisteria DP
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: Gem adhesives and ribbon from stash

Be sure to check out all the samples that my fellow DT sisters have created for your inspiration.  We hope  you will be able to play along and post your own creation on the Friday Sketcher blog.

My second card is for the Wags ‘n Whiskers challenge which is to use stitching on your project. Mine is there…you just have to look hard for it! LOL! See the four little cross-stitches……that’s it ……although one is almost hidden by the elephant’s foot.

I LOVE, LOVE these new images by Emma Metcalf. They are sweet and lend themselves to some nice CAS cards. Here is mine:

  • Stamps: Wags ‘n Whiskers Ellie & Squeak available ~here~ in either digital or rubber format, Sentiment from Papertrey
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: SU! Bashful Blue, Whisper White, SU DP from scrap drawer
  • Coloring: Copic Markers
  • Embellies: DMC floss for stitches (can you believe no ribbon, flowers or bling?) Martha Stewart punch set, Papertrey die

Please visit our Wags ‘n Whiskers blog to see the gorgeous creations of my fellow divas As always there is a lovely prize up for grabs for one of our participants! That is it for me! Have a wonderful day and I hope you find the time to get a little inky!

Hi Jeanette! I will definitely give your sketch a try....it won't be as gorgeous as your card though!
What a perfect way to use those bling bubbles....I've had them for quite a while with no idea how to incorporate them in a card and it is just perfect with your mermaid.
    Beautiful work, as always!

Hello Jeanette, I was cooking supper, and wondered how come you were talking about strawberries from Quebec, as I assumed you lived in the states! Curiosity brought me back, I was just reading the "about me" section and found out you are from la belle province, as I am!!! So extraordinary to realize I got to know you, because I found your blog on the web, because of a passion for stamping. This is magic
    Hugs.
