Elegant Blessings

Today is my eldest son's birthday! He is turning 11 and I just can't believe how quickly time has gone by. He is such a sweetheart and we are so proud of him. He is off at school but I will go and get him to take him out for lunch and I am planning to cook his favorite dinner - curry & rice and then a big chocolate mousse cake with smarties spelling his name and age. I had been doing this "smartie" thing since the first birthday and now it is a definite pre-requisite for a birthday cake.

After seeing the WOJ card I made for his brother (whose b-day is next week) he "hinted" that he'd like a sailboat and lighthouse card. EEEK....Thank goodness I did have a small light house stamp and I was able to find a nice sail-boat one and made a special card for him. I'll try to post it for you to see. Not my usual style but his face lit up when he saw it this morning.

Today I have a couple of cards that I made using Sweet 'n Sassy's fabulous new release stamps. They are perfect for many occasions and with Easter coming up, I am getting a lot of use out of these sets.

This first one is made using the Elegant Blessings set. I embossed the beautiful cross with clear embossing powder and two different inks. I really like the effect of the two inks that are just slightly different. Then I softly airbrushed with my copic system in a matching color. To add a little interest, I cut the bottom edge with my Martha Stewart border punch. The papers and ribbon are from Papertrey. Very simple yet elegant.

This second one uses a sentiment from the "Easter Scripture" set. The sentiment is embossed and all I really needed to add were some pearls and that gemstone butterfly. The designer paper is Ambrosia from Basic Grey. Everything I used to make this card (except ribbon and black & grey cardstock) is available here at SNSS web-store.

Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by.

What a coincidence Jeanette! My eldest son is 14 today! My son chose Pizza for dinner and I have made a chocolate cake this morning and will add some ferrero rocher and Lindt chocolates (his choice) to the top! Seems an odd decoration but I think it was any excuse to get some more choccies!
Hope you all have a fabulous day and Happy Birthday to your son!
Your cards are beautiful! hugs Debx
